Still giving this a try. Was going to get this on the DS, well, till about a minute ago

Kinda hard playing this game on the DS.
It looks like 3DS is the superior version anyway.

From what I've seen, there's nothing in this that hasn't been done by another rhythm game, and usually to an even higher degree.

For iPad, this game'll be great. I just worry for the smaller screens is all, like the 4G Touch users. The BMS levels have a lot going on.

Time will tell, and of course people will make do either way. =)

I feel bad that my only reason for having a 3DS is just for Ace Attorney 5 and Bravely Default. Initially it was for RE:R, KH3D, and Theatrhythm (and eventually AA5 and BD).

RE:R is most likely going to PS3/360, Theatrhythm is now for iOS, KH3D is most likely going to be in KH2.5 HD.

Yes, but it's not unrealistic to expect that many of certain types of games by capcom, square and others for 3ds will go sooner or later on ios for free or for very little price and with better graphics nonetheless.

You do realize the base price is $0 right? If you simply go in matching what you pay to buy the game on 3DS, I'm sure you can get a comparable amount of things. The end pricing is supposed to be pretty much the same on either platform i believe.

Keep in mind those are New Zealand prices, not US $s... but if someone wants to do a proper comparison, that'd be nice.

That's what it looks like at a glance. I was going to double dip for this to play on my iPad Mini but I think I might pass if it's going to be slow death for my wallet.

It was 40 when it came out, but I only paid 25, luckily, on top of that I sold the jank stylus to someone on eBay for 11 bucks.

I swear, eBay people will buy anything, you can pay off 50%+ of a game by selling it's bundled codes or content so often.

Definitely. If you have the 3DS version, you could get the songs that aren't available on the 3DS version (like Something to Protect and Melodies of Life) and purchase the characters you want that aren't also available (I'll go for Auron, Celes, and Rinoa).

Hah, if character selection was what indicated songs in Theatrhythm, we wouldnt have had a XIII-2, Versus and a Type-0 track in the 3DS version. I do hope for more tracks from the non-mainline games though.

If you buy everything on the 3DS game, I think it ends up being about a hundred bucks. There's a TON of 3DS DLC.

Dunno about the iOS version, we'll see.

I think there are no new songs, the songs in each bundle are the songs that were in TRFF, and the single song purchases are what was DLC in that version, IIRC.

And unlike the 3DS version where you had to play through Basic to unlock Expert and so forth, here all difficulty levels for each song are unlocked right away, and I think there's some sort of thing you unlock from playing in each difficulty? Since each one has a greyed out area that reads "ilusive score" with numbers one to four greyed out in them.

I wouldn't rule out future updates with more/additional songs just yet. It wouldn't be a first for SE to update an iOS game with more features.

Yeah, not being able to unlock stuff via progress in game would hurt my enjoyment a little, but I don't think anyone's said for sure how it works. It's possible it could be IAP that still needs to be unlocked, but it could also just be IAP that instantly unlocks. Again, since it costs ~$30 to play on 3DS, you could simply just buy all the characters from the start, and if they unlocked in a similar way when purchased (not immediately usable) it would be basically the same.

We only have New Zealand pricing right now, so I'm not sure we'll know accurately until it releases in the rest of the world.
