Aye, DMR's just dull to fight with, even if it's really effective. You said it last night, 'pew, pew, pew'. No thanks.

And again, jetpacks don't work, like our game on Solace when the opposing team just flew and boxed us in on the tall spires. Not fun at all.

Exactly.

Currently there is no trade off from using DMR compared to the BR, it has a substantial difference in kill times if you land all your shots.

At least with the light rifle it's (slightly) harder to get the final head shot from long range. In a perfect world i'd have BR only but that's never going to happen.

I don't mind the railgun as it takes a certain degree of skill to be effective.

Still havent run into a situation with jetpacks that felt cheap.

Is the enemy team all jetpacking up into weird nooks and crannies and camping? Because if they're on the move they are extremely vulnerable.

I'm just starting to really experiment with jetpack in more of my loadouts, but I'm only using them to bypass ramps or make assaults on roofs or high ground, and sometimes to jetpack in from the flank and get the drop on people.

Who makes them? Please don't say McFarlane.
Square Enix, it's from their Play Arts Kai series. They're also making a Master Chief and a Spartan IV Warrior figure. About 9" tall, very posable, much better than McFarlane junk, but pricier.

They would all hate you for leaving them in their boxes.
No way, I let my toys breathe.

I'm more like these guys.

I thought Palmer had white coloured armour not silver, woops.
It's definitely not quite white, but not quite steel so I guess it falls under silver. However, none of the Spartan armor in Halo 4 is very metallic looking so that's why this figure looks a bit different.

teehee!
I put a lot of work into that post :(
Which is why its as sane a place as it is.

I mean, this is HaloGAF and all, but its still sane, mostly, kindof.
Haha have you seen this thread the last few days? It's like Tyrone Biggums in a crackhouse wonderland. It's called crack! Also, while everyone else is talking about how bad 343 or MS is for not owning up to their mistake, I think it's brilliant move lol. Yeah, sure they are lying through the teeth, but outside of obsessed halo fans like posters on gaf and mlg nutters, who is really gonna notice or care? I think it's a brilliant move. People will forget about this stuff in a week even though halogaf will still be unable to move on or let go.

I totally think Jetpacks in CTF are awful. But that's just me.

There's no way to defend 343 anymore, I'll say they have nice people working there but they running the game post launch in the absoulute worse fashion possible. If someone would have told me this 3 months ago I would have laughed and told them they are lying.

Bear in mind all of this is completely new to them, I'm not mega pleased with how Halo 4's multiplayer turned out, but there is still a lot of good to it. Also, I think the fact that they're actually willing to give us a ranking system post launch is good of them.

The next Xbox should give them far much more creative freedom with Halo 5, but god damn let's hope Microsoft loosens up as well.

I can't believe I've lasted this long :p

Tell me about it.

Tashi DOES have a point.. The game has been out for less than a month and already has had an update... and a sandbox update is inevitable.

They have the good feature and Halo does not.

But Halo still has the better gameplay which always matters more to me. Sure I would love all that shit, and I'll voice my opinion on the issue but constantly comparing it to CoD is almost pointless.

Calm down man. It's okay that COD is more popular than Halo. Take deep breaths and try to relax.

Who the fuck are you again?

Really Cyren? The absolute worst possible fashion? You're blowing this out of proportion. They've said they have other patches coming soon. The game is pretty damn buggy and there's no doubt that was top priority, which makes sense. Let's wait and see some before we say it couldn't be worse.

I agree pretty much 100% but they want the CoD demographic.

Yes really:
  • No real communication from 343
  • Limited Edition Fiasco
  • Specialization Fiasco
  • Broken Theater
  • File Share on HaloWaypoint Down
  • Forge Features Nerfed
  • DLC Download Issues
  • Map/Button Glitch Exploits (Fixed somewhat)
  • API Numbeers (Kinda Fixed)
  • Europe Exclusion

I should sat they did do:
  • New Playlist
  • Minor hint towards small maps, double team and forge in MM
  • Minor Patches
  • Hired Bravo
  • Halo 4 Tournament that may or may not happen by Virgin.
Granted they may be patching some, but I don't know what's going on at 343 right now. I don't know who is doing the patches anymore. Will it be outsourced? Trust me I want the series to strive, but after this week with the MS cover up I don't know what to think anymore.

Of course no game ships perfect and they all get patches but I just don't like how it's, "well CoD did this, what did Halo do?" CoD has more patches than Halo!!! Is this not the first CoD game to have ranks that actually matter and tries to match people of like skill together? Yea, where were they 6 titles ago. They really listen to their fans! Not saying Bungie/343 have been perfect and they have definitely done some mind boggling shit but let's not act like CoD is the fucking poster child for anything.

But COD built features over the course of the franchise, and Halo has taken them away. A COD fan can't be dissatisfied when features are added, especially when they foster a competitive community like skill based ranks. Halo fans can, and are, disappointed with features being cut, especially when they've been synonymous with the franchise in the past. That's the logical view of all this.

And in regards to the MLG playlist I agree with the sentiment that MLG should find a weapon and stick with it, be that BR, DMR, Lightrifle, or whatever. If 343 aren't going to prioritise balance (and that's not a dig, they made their design decision and we have to accept it), then MLG should step in and balance the game to fit their competitive playlist. That includes a standardised weapon set from spawn, as well as standardised player attributes. No AA on spawn, same weapon, no armour mods (is that even possible?).

More than ever, and this is ironically something the MLG playlist has been criticised for in the past, MLG has to distill the game down to its core elements. 343 built a load of stuff and employed it clumsily, and without clear intent. There's so much random stuff knocking about that the game feels really arbitrary and fiestaesque.

BR or DMR, pick, but don't include both. Strip out the AA's that have a negative impact, and if you're going to include jetpack have it as a pickup like in Reach that offers a risk/reward nature to the match, and can never be used by an entire team.

I totally think Jetpacks in CTF are awful. But that's just me.
What is it that jetpackers are doing in particular though? Besides flying through the air that is, because that's dangerous as hell for the jetpacker to do.

I've heard the complaint about breaking the maps, but I don't entertain that one because the maps certainly seem made with jetpacks in mind. That's more of a complaint against Halo 4 on the whole than jetpacks in particular. So toss that in with intrinsic sprint and larger levels too.

Not liking jetpacks is something else though.

I hate camo.

Don't forget the host of bugged custom game options, no one sided gametypes, and unusable specializations in custom games.

-Each bulletin we know which playlists are coming and which are going. When there's news on the patch, we've received it and got the full notes for it

-I've had no fiasco with my limited edition. Wish I could have downloaded my maps a little earlier but that's no big deal.

-I don't know what they were doing with the specialization. I feel like they wanted to release them over time and then last second decided to give them to early adopters. Weird.

-Theater is not broken, it's got some bugs (I'm assuming you're talking about the announcers voice). I'm sure they're aware and want to fix it but it's low priority. Don't act like it's not.

-Let's not get started on Waypoint lol

-Ya DLC didn't go smooth but they at least tried to make it right by making it free for a few days. I do think though that those who paid for it day 1 should get reimbursed in some way(800 points back or next map pack for free)

-API is also not a big deal and I was actually impressed by quickly the reacted to the situation. I kind of expected the situation to be fixed if at all, much later.

-Don't know what's up with the Euro situation.

What is the argument for DMR being removed from MLG? It was great in Reach, and it is essentially the same here. The BR has a three round burst versus the DMR's longer range. They seem well balanced to me.

-Each bulletin we know which playlists are coming and which are going. When there's news on the patch, we've received it and got the full notes for it Just because we know which playlists are coming, doesn't mean the playlists have been managed well. They patched the super throw glitch before custom game options were fixed.

-I've had no fiasco with my limited edition. Wish I could have downloaded my maps a little earlier but that's no big deal. Just because you haven't had an issue doesn't mean it hasn't been an issue for thousands of others.

-I don't know what they were doing with the specialization. I feel like they wanted to release them over time and then last second decided to give them to early adopters. Weird. Yeah... "weird."

-Theater is not broken, it's got some bugs (I'm assuming you're talking about the announcers voice). I'm sure they're aware and want to fix it but it's low priority. Don't act like it's not. It's been downgraded since Halo 3, clips don't work, and there's no file browser.

-Let's not get started on Waypoint lol Exactly.

-Ya DLC didn't go smooth but they at least tried to make it right by making it free for a few days. I do think though that those who paid for it day 1 should get reimbursed in some way(800 points back or next map pack for free) It was a PR nightmare and they tried covering it up with more bullshit. Just like "everything will be unlocked on LAN" meant that it'd be available in custom game options, which was STILL a lie because specializations aren't available.

-API is also not a big deal and I was actually impressed by quickly the reacted to the situation. I kind of expected the situation to be fixed if at all, much later. It's a huge deal for tons of sites that use that information.

-Don't know what's up with the Euro situation. It's a mess.

Addressed in bold.

I don't think there's a need for both. I agree that it was great in Reach, once they removed bloom, and wouldn't be too against it in Halo 4 if it were the default starting weapon. As it is I personally think the BR is a more enjoyable weapon to use, and requires no less ability, if anything more because of the reduced range and the added factor of three bullets, meaning you need to track opponents efficiently.

One or the other, there's no need for both. Winning a duel in MLG, and a competitive playlist in general shouldn't revolve around rock/paper/scissors range factors and base player choices.

I feel more cheated for having paid $60 for Halo 4: Beta than I felt buying ODST.
I enjoyed ODST's condensed five hour campaign to Halo 4's bewildering, space trotting plot. And I had more enjoyment with ODST firefight than I've had in War Games and Spartan Ops combined. I wish that wasn't true, but it is.
