AFAIK Europeans didn't get access to DXP promotions, or the Nov. 30th specialization codes, and I'm assuming the map pack glitch. I'm pretty sure they got shafted on some pre-order bonuses, though I could very well be wrong about that.

Thinking about it,

We didnt get Double XP,
No specialisation code (I got one from Gamestop)
No map glitch.
Gamestop decided to not give out the pre order armour last minute.

How do Specializations fit into canon? Because only allowing certain demgraphics to rise in rank is going to cause turmoil within the Spartan IV program. Is the UNSC a bunch racists? Is ONI a bunch of racists? Is 343i a bunch of racists?!

How the fuck did the DMR get off of Reach?

Hey guys I wanted to know your opinions on which headset for Xbox 360 is the best quality.
I'm trying to get a new one since my Triton warhead halo 4 edition isn't working anymore and I'm disappointed with the sound quality with the headset as well since it has static coming through the speakers...

Any suggestions? I was looking at the astro a50s.

I want to get wireless btw and money is no issue.

Preface: I agree some playlists should have classic settings with no AA's, no instant respawn and weapons on maps without personal ordnance drops.

I personally think there is enough trade off and balancing with the AA's now, I really don't find I get killed over and over because one or two players match up their AA's or exclusively use one AA. I also don't find I can completely wipe out a team by simply using a particular AA. AA's are not an automatic win or loss. Players have to learn to use AA's to their advantage, just like using cover, strafe and DMR skills to out DMR an enemy. We really shouldn't get so mad about losing to an AA, they're viable game mechanics just like decision making, teamwork and use of cover while moving.

JETPACK

Benefits
1. Overcome obstacles or map movement or out of reach map movement.
2. Unexpected movements during gunplay or map traversal.
3. Avoid grenades or explosive ordnance by jumping and jetpacking together.
4. Move to map position or weapon spawn faster than standard map foot routes.
5. Dodge vehicles or board banshees.

Trade Offs
1. Gives off huge positional audio indicators.
2. Open enemy lines of sight from essentially all vectors and combined enemy team fire.
3. Completely loses any ability to strafe or jump or for the most part take cover.
4. Any decent aiming player/team fire will easily interrupt a jetpackers plan or course of action if not kill them outright very quickly due to predictable movements.

THRUSTER PACK
Benefits
1. Quick escape from direct fire or grenades
2. Dodge vehicles.
3. Map movements enhanced e.g. sprint + thruster + grav list = fast or vertical map movement over standard foot map routes.
4. Dodge melee.
5. Fast attack for assassination.

Trade Offs
1. Short range.
2. Not as effective against multiple enemies
3. Loud positional audio when used.
4. Predictable vector.
5. Catch up to an enemy when chasing

PROMETHEAN VISION

Benefits
1. Look through close-mid walls/floors and easily identify enemy positions and movements.
2. Anti-camper AA.
3. Great for teamwork & communication.

Trade Offs
1. Huge audio indicator when used.
2. Radar pulse when used.
3. Long recharge time.
4. Can be fooled by other AA's/specialisations.

HOLOGRAM

Benefits
1. More believable than Reach, fools enemies more.
2. Reveals enemy weapons in use when shot at.
3. Fake out attack vector.
4. Misdirection/distraction during ducking behind cover or when attacking vehicles.
5. Fake number of allies attacking.
6. Teabags dead bodies, come on this is fucking cool.
7. Finding camo snipers out.

Trade Offs
1. Linear path movement making this AA easy to spot.
2. Does not fire weapon, again making it easy to spot.
3. Flickers or disappears when shot.

HARD LIGHT SHIELD

Benefits
1. Block head on enemy gun fire.
2. Reduces or blocks head on grenade damage.
3. Can deflect vehicle fire.
4. Distraction to force wasted enemy fire or grenades.
5. Useful for teamwork traps.

Trade Offs
1. Slow movement.
2. Usually end up dead against a competent player/team.
3. Essentially highlights you as a big fat target for enemy focus.
4. No jumping.
5. No return fire or grenades.

ACTIVE CAMOUFLAGE

Benefits
1. Almost completely disappear when not moving or crouch moving.
2. Hidden map movements or chasing down less aware players.
3. Excellent for boarding vehicles or taking out key enemies camping or controlling map positions.
4. Viable flanking when whole team out of position.
5. Disappear into invisible when about to be overrun by enemy team.

Trade Offs
1. Audio is muffled and positional audio is hindered as well.
2. Easily spotted when moving quickly or firing or grenade throwing.
3. Slow recharge rate.
4. Easily spotted when shields not full.

AUTO-SENTRY

Benefits
1. Enemy path blocking.
2. Gain added fire support for 1 v 1 becoming 1.5 vs 1.
3. Trap setting.

Trade Offs
1. Fixed position AA.
2. More a support team fire than outright killer.
3. Poor against sprinting enemies or lots of cover areas.

REGENERATION FIELD

Benefits
1. When used in advance of an engagement very useful.
2. Great support AA for whole team or map control.

Trade Offs
1. Blurred vision so no long range combat or enemy weapon identification etc.
2. If shields down already most likely not going to save you.

Note: I've got more work to put into these sorts of posts but I'm compiling a "why I like Halo 4" from previous and future posts of mine. I suppose I'll have to create a web page as the content is huge and I'd like to add videos/images too. Coming some time in the next 1-2 months...

Money is no issue? Definitely get the A50s. They sound awesome. You have to use 1 cord from headset to controller, but its not a big deal.

I use Sennheiser wireless and I'm more than happy with them. They work well with games, movies and music. I would prefer the Astros so I can control the volume of chat over game sounds though.

Wait, so the free map pack is temporary? Wow, what a fiasco. I'm not buying it or any other map packs unless 343 makes some significant changes to the game.

lol just saw a post on reddit with some guy constantly suicided in a game (34 times). i thought this only happened with skill-ranks?
It was really fun to do that in Headhunter on Uncaged in Reach. You don't lose points for killing yourself, so you could do it most of the match, stop, and come back to win the game.

Shatter is so one-sided for the Red Team in CTF. I mean.. why is there a mancannon so close to the Blue Flag that takes you pretty much close to your own base.

I don't get it. Blue Team has nothing basically.

How many Microsoft Space Bucks do I have to pay to get a map that spawns me in my base in a CTF game instead of out in the middle of nowhere with 3 DMR guys staring at me? Thanks, Harvest.

Dear 343: When your map designer says that a huge swath of the map is called the "ring of death," maybe don't spawn people there. I realize that sounds obvious, but apparently not.

Weird, I got the Clay Pigeon and ODST achievement at the same time, using a lift on Shatter. Waypoint doesn't show it, though. Figures.

Shatter is pretty decent, and Harvest is great for CTF. Wreckage continues to be a pool of smelly, runny dogshit, however.

I spawned in front of the enemy base in Shatter too.
Also, the Flag is near impossible to take in Shatter because of how the bases are set up. Jetpack and Boltshot are practically required.

Which is nice, but not nearly on the same level of communication that was standard with Bungie. We should be hearing about how they recognize x, y, z exploits and relevant information (like specifics behind playlist update, such as why x playlist got put in ahead of y, etc.,) not about caption contests and Halo Forza designs.
And you can choose to feel that way, but that doesn't negate that the vast majority feel wronged by not just what happened with the map pack, but by Microsoft handing out specialization codes that were suppose to be exclusive to LE holders.
This is a good example of lack of communication from 343i. Taking away the exclusivity of something that was a bullet point for the Limited Edition, even if temporary, deserves an explanation behind why that decision was made.
It's not broken but something as standard as hearing the announcer in film clips shouldn't be broken in the first place, and is yet another thing that points to Halo 4 having been in development hell.
The initial support response on this is what should have sticked imo. It's bad business practice to screw over map pass and LE holders alike and admit that it was a mistake, it's another to turn around and say it was intentional and lie to your userbase about a promotion in an attempt to save face. You could argue that they didn't care so much about righting the wrong as they did about assuring they seem under control and getting money they potentially lost back, which isn't surprising considering it's Microsoft.
This is oppinion base and I have to say I heavily disagree. With how terrible Waypoint's interface, I'd argue that the stats API is more important now then it ever was for any previous Halo game, since it's through the API that we're going to get useful stats and data presented in a non-clusterfuck manner.
AFAIK Europeans didn't get access to DXP promotions, or the Nov. 30th specialization codes, and I'm assuming the map pack glitch. I'm pretty sure they got shafted on some pre-order bonuses, though I could very well be wrong about that.
Sorry for the wall of text.

All fair points. Again, I'm not saying 343 has done the best they could do. There's obviously room for improvement and some things were definitely mishandled. I was just arguing that it could have been much worse.

So do the astro A50s make any hissing noises or anything cause of the wireless signal?
My warhead ones did and it annoyed me...

Bulletin is up

Proud to be Australian...

One of the funniest moments happened when I was at the EB Games event in Sydney, Australia. When I was coming over, they told me that there would be a dramatic moment at the beginning of my appearance, with the Master Chief coming out of the cryotube to welcome me onto the stage. It sounded awesome. In reality, Chief turned out to be the tallest member of the PR team wearing a $30 Halloween costume from Halo 3 and climbing out of a cardboard box that someone had decorated with felt markers, all while music from Halo: CE played in the background. Oh, and he got stuck in the cardboard box and needed to be helped out. Not the proudest moment in the Chief's illustrious career.

At least we got the information we all really wanted:

Already packed with premium features, such as front and rear-view cameras, remote keyless entry, and a 10-speaker 700W Sony audio system, our 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor has been further reimagined to live in the fiction of Halo. It was given a custom paint job that matches the style of the UNSC, and we are adding custom exhaust with electric cutouts, twin rear entertainment screens and an Xbox.

Here is a handy-dandy list of all the features:

• Exterior matte olive paint with flat black trim
• Ride leveling kit
• 18" custom Halo wheels
• 35" tires
• Exhaust with electric exhaust cut outs
• Raised hood vents
• UNSC grille
• UNSC front push bar with LEDs
• Bed roll cage with spare tire holder
• Gas can and mounts in bed
• Color-match spray-in bed liner
• Interior two-tone seats with rugged military look
• Painted trim and chrome to look like bare metal

So was it the Seattle Seahawks or Mariners that visited 343? The picture shows a dude with all Mariners clothes on, but the text refers to him as a Seahawk.

Yeah I love how the actual Matchmaking Playlist stuff in the Matchmaking Playlist section of the update is like 15% of it.

They must've thrown that in there to get people to care about it, and make up for the lack of actual updates.
