I don't see any problem here, it's a win-win situation
you are horny? well the government gives you two options:
1) you can fornicate
2) you can spend money on items wich are kinda related to sex but not directly (sexy/aggressive advertisements, forms of packaging, idolization of the body, if you're sexy->you're succesfull) , giving you a panacean effect of satisfaction.
...when it comes to child pornography, which is banned virtually everywhere, the country's laws have been relatively soft. Possessing child porn brings a maximum one-year prison sentence, and until recently had been punishable by just a fine.
Females can go topless in New York City, I believe.
SEOUL, South Korea Moon Tae-Hwa stares at his computer, dizzy and nauseous from the hours of porn hes viewed online while his wife and children slept. He feels no shame only a righteous sense of mission.

I feel like Im cleaning up dirty things, the devout Christian and family counselor said.

What heroes they are to be sitting through endless amounts of pornographic material while their families sleep...A story from the AP on the volunteers who report the pornographic web sites:
South Korea volunteers battle against online porn, say fight is 'like shoveling in a blizzard'
That's not snow they're shoveling...

Aren't Evangelical Christian groups extremely powerful in South Korea?
These are Christian religious group at their heart, so blame traveling American evangelicals who are trying to heal the world from sin.

or they can take personal responsibility
Except America has essentially occupied Korea for 60 years. History has shown that people tend to accept the religion of the one who is pinching them under their thumb and inundating them with their messaging.
The only 2 Korean movies I've ever seen (Oldboy and Madeao) had school kids having sex. But I guess it's different if they're acting?
So then why is pornography still legal in America?
It's also still illegal in Iceland.
That's not really an argument I've made...? It's not that Korea is being made into America. It's that Korea is culturally dominated by America and highly susceptible to its influences. And some of those influences, they've taken and run with (ie Pop and Evangelism)
edit - And what "messaging" are you talking about? What cultural impact has America had on Japan by comparison?
America produces more pornography than any other nation on the planet. WE have a culture of porn. We watch it. We distribute it. We talk about it on TV. Yet somehow America is responsible for porn being illegal in South Korea because we've had troops stationed there? The logic is sorely lacking here.

Every country that allows pornography has a religious majority. Its culture that's important here and America doesn't have a culture of being anti pornography soo... yea, I don't see how the US even comes into the picture unless pornography was legal before the occupation, which I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it wasn't.
Don't they have like the best internet connects in the universe right now?
For shame!
Money would only be relevant if porn companies could influence politics, which they can't. Especially in the digital age.
edit - fuck I need to learn to stop arguing so much
I appreciate the responses BocoDragon. I know I can be a bit standoffish at times so thanks for keeping it civilized.
But their stuff is expensive and censored!I only have seen about 3 Korean gay porn movies so that explains it. Cannot wait to move to Japan.
And some are notBut their stuff is expensive and censored!
And some are not
i'm kinda curious here, between all my Masaki Koh special (both dvd and blurays) there are some censored and some are not...there's a specific reason for it? :/
So I guess it's settled now:
Japan > South Korea
Prostitutes must run a great business there.
