For those that want to beat Halo 4 on legendary, especially solo..WP kids are saying all you need are the last rally points of each mission..
Yep, I accidentally started from a rally point for last week's campaign challenge and ended up getting credit for completing the level on Legendary. woo

How is ODST solo legendary difficulty? I've always been kind of afraid of it because you don't play as a Spartan.
It's difficult, mainly because ammo is really scarce. It's not as unfair as Reach was with the psychic Wraith blasts. However, your faced with the horrible health beeping and red tinge to the screen when you take damage, so prepare for that.

Not much more difficult than Halo 3 was on legendary. The whole ''being weaker than a spartan'' thing is really overblown. You still have shields, only now, it's called stamina. I think you're maybe 10 or 20% weaker than the chief. The only thing you have to watch out for are the brute shots.
Only thing? Jackal Snipers.

But why? All that's different is the lore.

If you're commenting on the rocks part though, yeah there could be more variety in 343's maps but I don't think that has anything to do with the lore behind War Games.

No, we're saying that because of the lore of War Games, it being a simulation, it should give 343 free reign to make any kind of environment we want, and instead we get some really dull ones.

With rocks. Everywhere.

Sure, you could make some crazy VR environments... but then you couldn't use them in Spartan Ops.

Yeah. The maps could literally have nothing to do with past or even realistic locations. It could have 100% been random pure geometric shapes, floating platforms, etc., like you were training for an upcoming confrontation with an unknown enemy...

Le sigh.
But true.

I hope at least one of the six upcoming maps takes place on a Halo ring. The fucking series is called Halo and we don't have any maps on Halos in this game.

It's a travesty.

In Reach we had maps that were campaign set pieces shoehorned into multiplayer.

In 4 we have Sparty Ops environments that are shoehorned into multiplayer.

Shared assets are like a multi-tool; it works in crunch time, but it's never as good as a standalone set of proper pieces.

Halo 4's maps are way better than Reach. It's just missing some smaller maps for slayer.

Do you guys think they will change CTF back to how it was in previous halos? I really don't like what they did to it. That among other things of course.

They can't even kill you in one shot. I even think they do more damage to the Chief in Halo 3 than too the Rookie.
Honestly? Wow...
Every time I roam within New Mombasa (On Legendary) they Snipe the living hell out of me. They (most of the time) spawn on top of buildings near the ledges and in bridges (luckily the Superintendent's City Schematics shows the architecture and covenant patrols within the city. I literally have to be sneaky and snipe them in a good angle before engaging a Brute Patrol or Scavenging for Mongooses/Ghosts/Ammunition.

I like most of the changes they made to objective, but the CTF ones are odd. I really don't like auto pickup and the inability to drop the flag. Also the flagnum is flat out broken, half the time it doesn't fire all of the first clip.

I actually like the waypoint since it actually helps to focus randoms.

It's missing maps for CTF. Haven is the grand Slayer map, but there's still a lot of mixed stuff going on for what's good and what's not. Reach had their share of good ones too at launch; some maps that should be better but aren't, like Solace. It is hurt by its asymmetric base setup and having an Incineration Cannon on the map. It doesn't need two Snipers, Sword, and that. A Railgun would be a better option, I think.

I love Solace because it's similar to one of my favorite Halo 3 maps, Narrows.

But yeah, I agree that it doesn't need snipers when the DMR has such crazy range.

This is one of my favorite things about ODST. Scouting areas out, avoiding firefights if I could, being sneaky, finding ammo caches, etc. That to me made the nighttime sequences my absolute favorite experience in the game. If you chose to immerse yourself in the experience, New Mombasa at night becomes something wonderful. The ambiance created while simply wondering around with the sounds of light rain, thunder, and Marty's wonderful score really hit a sweet spot for me.

I don't think halo 4's maps are better than Reach's. Halo Reach had more bad maps, but it also had more good maps than 4. In Reach, we have Zealot, Powerhouse, Asylum and Countdown. In Halo 4, what do we have? Haven, Excile (While I hate this map, a lot of people seem to love it here)? I'd call Adrift decent. The rest is either unplayable because of Infinity Slayer or just because they're plain bad.

I honestly don't know whether I like most of the BTB maps or not because the playlists they're in are such clusterfucks.

Let's reminisce some more today.

I'm late, but here are my comparisons anyway.

multiplayer
CE >>>> ZBNS Reach > Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo: Reach > Halo 4

campaign
H2 > CE > H3 > HR > H4 > ODST

Best part about Haven is the jumps. So good. It's like Lockout tier in terms of jumps you can do.

ugh I need to play this game again... the lag really helped in making the experience much more frustrating than it needed to be. I also miss playing with you guys. Hadn't had that much fun playing Halo since like 2009.

Uh, I think you have that backwards, but I'd argue that the multiplayer set pieces brought over into Spartan Ops are the best missions in terms of variety and combat (which is, of course, relative to the mode. SpOps needs lots of work).

I don't mind shared assets as long as they offer different experiences across the different modes. ODST and Reach did this with Firefight and it wasn't a problem for me at all.

I don't mind the flagnum that much, but being unable to drop the flag and having a big ass waypoint over your head for people to ping you across the map isn't fun at all.

I think we have a few CTF maps already.Ragnorak, Exile, Harvest , Solace adrift are quite good. I agree with with solace layout and weapons which are kinda odd choices. Especially differences between the two bases.

BTB maps are good in this game. We need more arena maps just to balance them out.

ODST was superb. End of story.

I found most of the game on Legendary about average in difficulty, but Data Hive and Coastal Highway are just ridiculous.

The Drones on Data Hive and the Ghosts on Coastal Highway simply rip you a new one. There's no way to take cover from them, they're blindingly fast, and you die in a flood of plasma. Again and again. Doesn't help when Buck and Dare go on strike and refuse to shoot at them.

Since everyone is/was doing it, I'll post my list thingy:

Multiplayer:
Halo3>Halo Reach=Halo 4 (I haven't played Halo CE or Halo 2 online so I can't take those into the equation)

Campaign:
Halo 3>Halo Reach>Halo CE=Halo 3: ODST>Halo 4>Halo 2

If the bases on Solace were larger, I wouldn't have as much of a problem as I do with their asymmetric layout. The bases are too confining and once again court camo abuse in objective games.

I just got the special delivery achievement, and this is probably the easiest way to do it as well. Should work everytime.

Next time you play on Harvest, go to the top middle of the map where those two lifts are on each side of you (above the room with the plants in it). Just sit at the top and wait til someone goes in the lift, and when they do, walk into the lift as well and when they get near you melee them.

I did it just now in my first match without even paying attention like a minute in.

I don't really care for Solace.. more maps like Haven and Adrift in the next map pack and I'll pick it up for sure.

I don't know how I'd rate all the campaigns, but favorite is still CE (CEA now) followed by Halo 4.

ODST4LYFE

ODST is awesome. I don't know where I'd put it though. The thing is, it doesn't really matter for me. Even the last place one I still love so being last isn't bad on my list.

I need to replay ODST.

I don't think this avatar is fitting for you, it just looks too good.

Yeah, needs more fat people.

It's ok slut, we miss you too. Are you officially done with school crap now? For the rest of the year at least?

So there's a daily challenge for winning king of the hill matchmaking games, yet they just removed king of the hill from matchmaking four days ago. Amazing work, 343.

Multiplayer takes place in a computer simulation. This gives them carte blanche to do anything.

Hope you like rocks.

Would have been cheap and easy for them to give us a Forge space in a Tron or MGS Training room style.

Visually it'd be totally different to anything else and offer clutter-free playspaces. Characters would always be high contrast too.

What could have been..

Flat surfaces + clean corner = good halo mm map
