I don't think Nintendo keeps the stock that low, even worse than Wii 6 years ago. So, Wii U just does better than Vita (at launch) but failed to set on fire.

08./05. [WIU] New Super Mario Bros. U <ACT> (Nintendo) {2012.12.08} (¥5.985) - 77.749 / 312.288 (+9%)
13./10. [WIU] Nintendo Land <ETC> (Nintendo) {2012.12.08} (¥4.935) - 51.373 / 164.991 (+24%)

People going back for dat 2nd game.

Actually Nintendo Land is a good fit game for party or family gathering. More people will buy it preparing the new year holiday.

Does the Wii U have stock problems?

It's relatively easy to find, but stores do sell out. I was just at Tsutaya today, and the basic set was sold out, with the premium in stock.

I was at Ito Yokado the other day, and it was completely sold out.

Everyone else I've been had them in stock.

03./00. [PSP] AKB1/149: Love Election # <ADV> (Bandai Namco Games) {2012.12.20} (¥7.329) - 143.774 / NEW
16./00. [PSV] AKB1/149: Love Election # <ADV> (Bandai Namco Games) {2012.12.20} (¥7.329) - 35.372 / NEW

The Vita version sold 24.6% of what the PSP version did or 19.7% overall.

Why is this a suprise? It's its third week on the market. Down from the launch spike vs up on the holiday ride, cancelling each other out. I actually thought it might drop more. Much more.

Well, that's what I'd have thought, though that's just on a first glance. If this was a normal third week, I'd have expected it to be sub-100k by now, rather than holding flat.

Is it possible that 3DS dominating eats some of the U sales? I mean, most Japanese would prefer to buy 3DS first before buying Wii U.

I doubt it. I think its more likely that WiiU just doesn't have a lot of appealing software, and its coming down off of a launch high mildly offset by a holiday. Seems I was the only person expecting it to just about hold right where it was this week. I definitely didn't expect it to spike upwards or anything, but it was obvious it wouldn't fall below 100k either.

24./16. [3DS] Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Best Price!) # <ACT> (Capcom) {2012.11.15} (¥3.800) - 24.846 / 109.997 (+30%)

Yes, King, I see you!

Nice to see them do another 100k on the best version. Whats the total at for it now?

The basic set? No. Pretty easy to get at most stores. The premium is sold out in a lot of places. But not all places.

If you want a premium you may have to go to a few stores to find one. Basic just about everywhere. At least where I live,

Meh at Wii U. I assume this is doomed so :lol ... Seriously nevertheless, like the NeoGAF concensus stated since th last two weeks, the pace it will go in early 2013 will be more telling than this meh-week.
I think the system may be around 100k less than Nintendo's expectations for 2012.

3DS is where we expected it, but without the double Marios like last year, it's less impressive.
Animal Crossing is still a dman strong IP, the Wii game was just the black sheep of the series it seems.

And BOOM. WiiU drop isn't a great sign but I suppose it is competing with the 3DS to some degree but certainly WiiU isn't off the 'watch list'.

Fucking hell at AC boost! Also remember when NSMB2 had no legs and was going to crash and burn...yeah... :p

Damn, AC is doing blinding numbers. I'm surprised since the 3DS isn't quite the DS. Still doing really great numbers though.

The Wii U number is...lower than expected, but not low enough to cause drastic concern ala Vitas third week.

Edit:
Is it possible that 3DS dominating eats some of the U sales? I mean, most Japanese would prefer to buy 3DS first before buying Wii U.
I don't think so.
Same week in 2006:
DSL 485,584
Wii 279,277

Anyone know MH3 full price AND best price?
How does this compare with MK7 and SM3L LTD?

Edit: And NSMB2!

Thanks!

Who cares?
It was a guess. No ill intent behind it.

Does it mean anything though? Spurred by disinterest in the platform? Or just lack of games? Or lack of a good "hook"?

That nebulous something that sets platforms apart. Who knows? Not a good sign though for Nintendo.

Vita Saved! Cancel all "normal" games and make more of these glorious titles and all will be well.

Layton vs Ace Attorney is such a flop... just like KH:DDD was. And MK7 is not having the legs of its predecessors.

Was this week the launch of BLOPS2 and Ken's Rage 2 on Wii U too? And when will Nintendo release some download numbers? (seeing that AC has a 300.000 difference between the two trackers)

Haha, NSMB2 for 3DS is going to out leg Mario 3DLand. I was skeptical for a while, but it looks like 2D Mario will once again climb past 3D Mario.

Edit: Animal Crossing broke 2m in Famitsu (they count the download cards).

I think I'll be more concerned if Wii U is sub-100K next week, and very concerned if it's sub-80. I don't think that they can afford to be crashing 4 weeks in.

Fake edit:: is AC the first 3DS game to cross 2M domestically (Famitsu)?

Nintendo have created a monster beyond their own control. It will soon gain its own consciousness, systematically devour the rest of the market, and eventually spell the death of both the company and the world.

Of course it is. After the market transitioned from consoles to handhelds last generation, it's going to affect all consoles in the future.

I was informed in the last thread that this tracking period is traditionally the biggest shopping week of the Japanese calendar; and the Wii U should consequently be expected to hold or rise, rather than drop.

Although this drop seems minor, and could probably be classed as a hold essentially.

01./01. [3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf # <ETC> (Nintendo) {2012.11.08} (¥4.800) - 400.320 / 2.123.029 (+88%)

That's one of the most incredible success of the last year, if you ask me. Nintendo couldn't replicate NSMB and Brain Age craziness, but it could manage to replicate Animal Crossing phenomenon on 3DS. It will get close to the sales of Wild World, which is something no one expected.

05./04. [3DS] Paper Mario: Sticker Star <ADV> (Nintendo) {2012.12.06} (¥4.800) - 122.457 / 331.529 (+55%)
10./08. [3DS] Pokèmon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity <RPG> (Pokèmon Co.) {2012.11.23} (¥4.800) - 65.801 / 310.943 (+56%)

lol at those people screaming flop after the first week. Both might go close to 500k.

07./00. [3DS] Inazuma Eleven Go 2: Chrono Stone - Raimei / Neppuu <RPG> (Level 5) {2012.12.13} (¥5.500) - 96.013 / 266.993

Level-5 redeemed: Go 2 is selling way better than the first one.

08./05. [WIU] New Super Mario Bros. U <ACT> (Nintendo) {2012.12.08} (¥5.985) - 78.681 / 324.994 (+4%)
12./09. [WIU] Nintendo Land <ETC> (Nintendo) {2012.12.08} (¥4.935) - 53.456 / 173.804 (+28%)

Hardware dropping, and software increasing... Interesting.

13./00. [3DS] Magician's Quest: Magical Town <ETC> (Konami) {2012.12.20} (¥4.980) - 40.145 / NEW
15./13. [3DS] Tousouchuu: Shijou Saikyou no Hunter-Tachi Kara Nigekire! <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) {2012.07.05} (¥5.040) - 38.586 / 330.977 (+56%)
16./19. [3DS] Kobito Zukan: Kobito Kansatsu Set <ETC> (Nippon Columbia) {2012.07.26} (¥5.040) - 31.406 / 196.860 (+116%)
20./10. [3DS] Toriko: Gourmet Monsters! <RPG> (Bandai Namco Games) {2012.12.13} (¥5.800) - 28.318 / 62.748 (-18%)
21./18. [3DS] Taiko no Tatsujin: Chibi Dragon to Fushigi na Orb <ACT> (Bandai Namco Games) {2012.07.12} (¥5.040) - 27.718 / 334.482 (+72%)
24./16. [3DS] Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Best Price!) # <ACT> (Capcom) {2012.11.15} (¥3.800) - 24.846 / 109.997 (+30%)
25./22. [3DS] Aikatsu! Cinderella Lesson <ETC> (Bandai Namco Games) {2012.11.15} (¥5.040) - 23.404 / 65.262 (+72%)

Third parties on 3DS are really selling well. The behaviour of MH3G best price really set a stone in the debate MH on Vita, etc.

Oh its definitely gonna drop. Like a rock, I would put money on that. Look at the chart, wheres the software? That things going down to 70k or lower next week, and itll Vita slowly over the next few months unless they get some games out. Outlook is bad for that thing right now.

at last, for christ's sake
Sad to see that shitty one piece game sell that much I also wanted to is animal crossing actually good this time? Is it actually a new game this time around?

there's a leg long list of changes and additions and Japan Gaf are raving about it. I suppose it's the definitive AC

I'd have said so - it's 4k, not 30-40k.

Still too early to take this stance.

One of the biggest flops of the year (sell-through below 50%).

PS3 had a lot more competition, though. It had the Wii itself, the DS which was ascending to heaven (was it its second holiday?) and the last tail-end of the PS2.

Wii U only has the 3DS. Sure, PS3 and PSP, but those aren't serious competitors at this point.

I don't think the numbers are that bad, though.
