Microsoft teases for E3 with countdown: "And it's on..."

And the leaks begin. Right on queue.

Shouldn't the countdown points to June 10th instead of 11th? Following last couple of years' trends the conference are on day 0 and morning of day 1.

Who cares about the actual E3, it's all about the conference before.

Now if the big companies could actually confirm the schedule so I can organize my days off from work.

They normally don't announce the schedule until a few weeks before E3. I suppose Microsoft could be early considering Larry's countdown and following hype train though. In any case I don't think you have to worry about missing the show, unless your boss is really pedantic about working hours.

Well I actually work in the game industry so I could pass it as work related haha.

I could actually watch it at work but I have people coming into my office every couple of minutes so it's really annoying. Might as well stay at home and watch on my couch.

Nope.

Contract just gives bungee the ability to delay it on the ps3 if they dont have enough resources, there's nothing in there saying there is a timed exclusive requirement.

You really should read that contract over again.

Not that I think it won't be on the Ps3 day one. It's just your memory of the contract is WAY off.

you should read the contract again.

Bungie wrote that statement to ensure that they wouldn't be penalized for not producing a ps3 version due to the recent departure from xbox only development. Not to mention the contract had already been through revisions before it was ever brought out in court (ie the court document was old).

Does a website update mean some sort of announcement?

considering the last updates to the website were at releases of major titles, yes, yes it does. Though this is probably just backend work for the update.

Lucid is a small team, though. They've done nothing but iOS so far. It does't make sense for them to be making a full-blown AAAA title for next-gen.

Really hoping this turns out to be a new Gotham game at launch. I played the shit out of 3 and 4. Great games.

Its entirely possible. Yes, they have only done iOS and Vita stuff so far but that what you do while waiting for the bigger contract work.

And isn't Forza 5 supposed to be out this November? I can't imagine two racing games coming out at the same time.

A XBLA PGR sounds sorta plausible though.

The timeline of past forza games suggest this november but one of the T10 guys in a previous thread said not to expect it then.

despite 2013 fitting the 2-year dev cycle for forza games, there have been hints that forza motorsports 5 is not coming out this year

Is that picture from Lucid Games or what?

I just don't see them doing it. And even have a harder time wrapping my head around why they would pass up on buying Bizarre from Activision before but hire a smaller, incomplete and fragmented team later to do an AAA PGR.

From Lucid Games website.

I will love a co-develop between Lucid Games and Playgraound Games...

Man I am so out of the loop with PGR rumours. What else are they saying?

Well, Rare hiring people from codemaster and blitz games:

And some concept arts from a Rare designer:

And Turn 10 was rumored working on PGR5 too.

EDIT: The image at Lucid Games website is so PGR:

That sorta looks like a PGR track environment. I really hope it's the ex-bizarre guys making the next game in the series.

Their city renders and lighting engine is top notch. I much prefer it over Forza/Horizon's lighting.

That RARE racer stuff is news to me, and that art looks awesome! Bring on a larger scale, more serious and better online functional version of Joyride Turbo made by RARE with racing dev pedigree from Codemasters and you might have yourself a winner of a kart racer-like game.

I honestly really enjoyed Joyride Turbo (non Kinect version), but it suffered from a second hand release, minimal marketing and biggest, being an XBLA title. If MS wants to build a racer that can take on the likes of Mario Kart sales wise, throw talent at it, retail release it and back it with marketing for once.

edit. One thing that WILL be different with this launch of next gen is XBLA games from the get go. Remember with the 360, it was Hexic and Geometry Wars. Total lower budgeted arcade games, the service took years to really mature. With the new Xbox launch, in tandem with retail launch games MS will certainly have launch XBLA titles as well.. let us not forget this tidbit. IGN was hoping for Shadow Complex 2 launch title?

I know that would push units alone.

Hmmm, it looks like something this gen should be capable of to me. I don't play racing games though. Plus the whole blur effect really is awful at showing anything off.

You don't normally see that attention to detail in a racer. You would see something like that in a open world game like Grand Theft Auto.

Think about it, what is the purpose of modeling benches and a telephone booth when you're whizzing by at 50mph?

Not even Gran Turismo, Forza, or Forza Horizon features that kind of detail.
