Reddit Rumor: Fallout 4 Details [Update: Nope]

Won't they have to update their engine a lot more than they did for Skyrim considering this is a next gen game
(it better be)
, thereby causing an increase in production time?

hell just update textures, and lighting effects, AND MORE THAN ~12 PEOPLE IN A CELL AT ONCE, and id take that as a first next gen game...

what I really want more than anything tho, is something near the radiant A.I. they wanted for oblivion, I dont care if its a "this could totally fuck up your game" type opt in setting, it just looked so cool back in the demo for oblivion.

It depends how forward looking they felt their last update was.

The final climactic battle is 10 androids fighting 10 humans, and then everything in the world goes back to normal.

And just as you are about to enter the epic battle they all clip through the floor and the quest ends. Then you can go into the android homebase and no one will care you killed their leaders.

If they release this at the same time as their new console (like oblivion) i will fucking day 1 that shit. Everything sounds awesome from these rumors, i just wish they had started earlier.

To be fair even though this is modded to hell it is still the Skyrim engine and I think we would all be happy if FO4 looked anything like this

Factions in a Bethesda game?

I'm sure Bethesda can do factions, I just don't think they can do them any justice.

Yeah, or that the 10 humans or 10 androids spawn in the sky and fall to their doom glitching the quest in the process :p

-From what it sounds like, "The Institute" is pretty much the downtown DC or New Vegas of this game. Boston is going to be unlike anything we've seen in a Fallout game before, with buildings more on par with cyberpunk and retro-futurism.

This sounds like the worst idea ever.

This time I'm getting it on PC. Done with console ports with Bethesda games

I'm getting it on PC because it'll be better all around. Seeing Skyrim and FO:3/NV (shit, even Oblivion) in action on all platforms really sent the message home.

Edit: It'll be Liam Neeson. Bet on it.

Deep One Guard with Techno Mohawk: The one who saved us from the evil doctors! We thank you forever.

Deep One Guard with Techno Mohawk: Don't go chewing on anyone in this town, or we'll have problems, freak.

Deep One Guard with Techno Mohawk: Tech wiz, huh? Could you speed up my computer? [Player has Science skill ≥ 10]

Deep One Guard with Techno Mohawk: Keep your head down when in the lands of the All-Powerful Father Bagon, foolish acolyte! [Player is High Priest of Bagon and also Grand Poobah of Anti-Bagon]

eh I dunno, it could work, more....normal (well for fallout anyway) life in the town, and harsh wastes/settlements surrounding it. Thats how I thought new vegas would be, but I just felt that whole strip was under utilized and kind of a let down.

Screenshots still don't tell the whole truth. If that was a video it would show that the low res textures, low poly environment+characters, very noticeably slow shadowmap updating, incredibly strange shadowing system, terrible detail for anything more than a couple dozen meters ahead and bad pathfinding not to mention the many other limitations of the engine are still there. They can add as many fancy shaders as they want but it won't come close to covering up the severe limitations that would be easily overcome if they move to a new engine for next gen.

Well if this is coming out next year, I wouldn't expect an overhaul. That will probably come with ES6

Well I'm going to bail out on playing in my backyard in the past with AC3 but I'll be able to play in future Boston at least with this.

Well they did refer to Skyrim as a "whole new engine" (even post launch), so maybe they really do think highly of it: http://www.computerandvideogames.co...let-content/?cid=OTC-RSS&attr=CVG-General-RSS

y'all should be ashamed
Man, downtown New Vegas was so disappointing. It was so bad, oh so bad. That game engine can burn in hell.

I don't really trust Bethesda can do anything right at this point.

My understanding of that was rather the fault of the consoles than the engine. Obsidian originally had the whole downtown open without gates, but the consoles simply could not run that all at once due to such low memory and so they had to cut them up into sections with the walls and gates.

The massive amount of memory in the new consoles is the main reason I care about next gen.

Hopefully for next gen consoles.

Choices and consequences in quests this time please. Don't be stubborn, learn from Obsidan.

both of these please. Also a more action oriented leveling system based on using weapons and various skills (if you use laser pistols more you get better at laser pistols etc. etc.) sounds much better to me.

not real sure if I'm cool with them still using the SPECIAL and traits in lieu of Skyrims skill perks. If I'm using laser pistols I would still want a perk/trait relavent to that.

they also need to shitcan the VATS system as well and make the FPS mechanics infinitely better. They can keep the RPG centric stuff with the gun mechanics(stats and weapon type proficiency effects damage dealt) but I'd like it more similar to Skyrim's perk system (lvl 20 laser pistol proficiency = laser pistol damage is 20% greater so on and so forth.
