Project X Zone is coming to both Europe, Australia, US in the summer of 2013 for 3DS

well what they've said specifically is that it was not developed with localization in mind, and they had no plans to bring it over.

I don't know at this point. I think they ought to release a really low budget localization (like one that retains the hard-coded Japanese text, but subtitles a different part of the screen in English) and put it on the eShop or something. That game bombed so hard, they should at least attempt to salvage the pieces and turn SOME profit instead of writing it off.

Unfortunately, that might backfire on them. Capcom has probably crunched the numbers and figured that licensing costs + cost of translation + programming will earn them little to no money...meaning that a localization would be a complete and utter waste of resources.

If it bombed that hard in Japan then there's no way Capcom would consider it profitably to bring over here, not even as an low budget eShop release.

My bad. I was in the back and it was kind of hard to hear people's questions. I just heard "Project X Zone" mentioned and Reggie being a little confused. :)
It's cool. =D Sorry you were in the back, come around the side and force your way through next time. I got to say hi to the dorito pope, too.

I'm so excited! =D I still can't believe Namco is localizing it.

It seems like lately NB is picking up a lot of titles everybody thought'd ever leave Japan.
Also, all the breast-jiggling really bothers me, it's so... unnecessary.

You're probably right. Still, it's easier to rationalize hope :p

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

The strange thing about Ex Troopers is that it bombed way, way, WAAAAAAAAAAY harder on PS3.

This is great news! Way to go Nintendo, Namco, Sega and Capcom. You are finally realizing what great games are in Japan and how much the rest of the world wants them!

Lost Planet EX Troopers, Time Travelers and Kokuga(SHMUP from new company designed by creator of Ikaruga and can be played 4-player with one cart. looks tons of fun for SHMUP fans) please!

Very exciting news, the gameplay seemed a bit simple for my tastes but the absurdity is strong enough to make me want to give it a chance. Does anyone know if the game ever got any dlc? From what I heard the game only had RE5 era Chris and Jill representing Resie, would be nice to have Sherry or any number of other characters throughout the series to give a more substantive selection.

I roll my eyes every time it's used that way. I guess "fanservice" means "creepy pandering" now?

No it just one of the many forms of fanservice. Still this is a "fanservice" game heaven. Characters from 3 different companies, soundtrack, characteristic attacks from these characters and the different worlds colliding together.

Of course tits is part of the equation...

Would be true to the source if floating white man was up against the wall.

Namco has been kind of cool lately(?!)

Can't wait to play as those Valkyria 3 characters who I don't know who they are.

I think it's only Chris and Jill. I'm only like 20 hours in though but haven't seen any other RE characters.

I totally get that aspect of fanservice. Part of why I love franchises like Super Smash Bros. and Marvel vs. Capcom is that they're full of winks and nods and classic characters. It's this part

where you lose me.

But whatever, it's cool to see more 3DS games getting localized like this.

What's with all the creepy tit shots? :/
It's the key to the exclusive club for M-rated 3/DS games. It'll just be Pegi 12 meanwhile.

... Yeah, this blindsided me. I'll see what people are actually thinking of it first once it's out and be sure it's not just appealing because it's a Japanese exclusive that's also a crazy crossover dream.

I can buy that meaning if you're on about some schoolgirl anime or some bollocks, because, well, you know. Expectations.

But this game has fucking Mega Man in it. Mega Man!

Well you have characters from Xenosaga and Resident Evil where that kind of fanservice is already on the original games....I mean of course is there....

You have to take this from the perspective of the average consumer of these kinds of games in Japan.
And yeah, it's not like Xenosaga wasn't already like this or something.

There's a lot of it in SRT OG Endless Frontier and that's been localized, but I guess the average consumer would never have picked it up. :(

This would be like having Snake break Ganondorf's neck and realistically shoot Pikachu in the head in Brawl. It's alright, guys, Metal Gear was already like this!

I'm aware of what the perspective is of the "average consumer" of this kind of wankery is too, but that's a whole other rant.

Project X Zone has the same rating as games like Xenosaga though, while Super Smash Bros Brawl didn't.

NAMCO is bringing over games with megaman in them before Capcom released anything for his anniversary (that wasn't fanmade). Ouch.

Oh, it did? Ah. Fair point. I figured there was a flaw with that analogy somewhere. >_>

Still... I don't like it. I think it's immature and sits incredibly weirdly with the other characters. Plus these are some beloved characters! I don't want close-ups of Hsien-Ko's tits, I like that character.

Exactly, I really hope you can disable that.
Like, I certainly don't get much out of it. If we turned it around, and men were being sexualized, I would still think it's unnecessary by virtue of being an animation that takes up time and I don't really need it nor do I get much out of it.

A game encompassing fanservice doesn't need that sort of stuff to sell itself. The mere inclusion of the characters, the game's spritework, and the gameplay systems themselves should be the primary source from which marketing should draw to sell the game. Going for the easiest and quickest way of making the game appeal to people is just kind of immature at this point.

For what it's worth, the game is relatively tame compared to the other games like this. I think the Xenosaga gif above is one of the more blatant scenes in the game.

The mere thought that you would need to include that kind of pandering at all, when you're making a game with a roster of characters built up from 2 of the greatest game companies of all time (and Namco), is just... baffling, more than anything, really. It makes the developers, well, it makes them look like fucking morons, quite frankly.

Have you never played a game with Morrigan in it?

I freaking HATE Morrigan. Shit like that is a big part of it.

That's not exactly a fair comparisson.

Nintendo can't allow to become Smash Bros a +18 rated game, it would clash with a great part of their market, not only of the games also it would clash with the other characters demographics.

Bouncing tits on this game dosn't clash with the great part of the demographic of the game...

I'm not defending it, but that type of pandering is in most of the franchises that are in the game in first place.

Sure. I'm not really a fan of Morrigan, and Trish's win pose is dumb, but UMvC3 has nothing like some of the gifs being posted here.

My goodness, this game is far too ribald!

I doubt that any of the people posting in this thread would refuse to purchase the game based on those cutaways alone. We're just pointing out how unnecessary and stupid they look.

... Woh, this was unexpected.

Can't say I enjoyed the game much (it's better than NxC at least), but hey, any localization news is good news. Also lol that VC3 characters are heading west. ='(
