Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
You know, stuff that are shockingly still held by people as fact despite schools teaching otherwise.

For instance, I'm surprised that up to this point there are people still thinking Colombus discovered that the Earth is round. I thought it was only from the 90's but apparently there are still people believing that he did the journey for circumnavigation. Maybe it's just those 90's kids and their nostalgia.

With that said I always consider Magellan the first one who circumnavigated vs. Colombus.

Fan death.

I have met three different people who argued with me that mice do not have bones.
What the fuck?

Magellan died on the way.

But tbf the media, schools ect try to make you believe that shit every year. Why they do that shit I will never understand.

Yeah let's keep discussion of religion of this to keep this argument free.

And yeah generally the world is accepted as round even in Greek periods. It's "earth is the center" that's being a hot issue in the middle ages.

My mom sent me email about everything under the Snopes, if you know what I mean. Plastic food container, brain eating sushi, etc...

My parents think not covering your food in the microwave will give you cancer. Storing food in metal(after its been opened) will also give you cancer. My mom puts coins on every window, and she hangs grapes over the door.

I think I can one up that. I'm surprised that people still believe the earth is flat.

Welcome to the Flat Earth Society.
What evidence do you have?

The evidence for a flat earth is derived from many different facets of science and philosophy. The simplest is by relying on ones own senses to discern the true nature of the world around us. The world looks flat, the bottoms of clouds are flat, the movement of the sun; these are all examples of your senses telling you that we do not live on a spherical heliocentric world.

People have been into space. How have they not discovered that the earth is flat?

The most commonly accepted explanation of this is that the space agencies of the world are involved in a conspiracy faking space travel and exploration, the motive of which is to cover up the fact that space travel is not possible, along with making a profit for themselves by embezzling most of their funding. The conspiracy likely began during the Cold War's 'Space Race', in which the U.S.S.R and USA were obsessed with beating each other into space to the point that each faked their accomplishments in an attempt to keep pace with the others supposed achievements.

I could go on but that'd ruin the fun I think.

Why would you say that? I thought you were Muslim.

He said "pre-empt" as in sticking it to all those trying-to-be-funny atheist and ruin the fun for all of us by beating them to the punch.

While I don't think believing in God would be "myths you're surprised people still believe", as in it's a powerful concept one that isn't dismissible at face value and will remain as long as our knowledge of the universe we live in is less than 100%. There will always be someone pointing to the gap and say 'God' as long as we all live.

I'm not surprised at anything because most people who believe false myths just haven't been taught otherwise, despite what you say.

I used to believe that non-oxygenated blood was blue because I was taught that in school. I used to believe that we only used 10 percent of out brains because I was told that by a teacher. I used to believe in God because my parents told me He existed.

Sure, if people refuse to accept facts, they deserve ridicule, but a lot of people have been presented falsehoods as facts, and they simply haven't been corrected yet.

That's more of a superstition - we also do that during New Years just for fun.

Oh god my brain

Well, if belief in god is off the table how about myths about atheists?

The myth that there is no meaning to life without god.
The myth that atheists are necessarily nihilists.
The myth that there can be no morality without god.
Etc.

That kind of thinking usually blows my mind.

Seriously?

You really really wanted to make that point eh?

It's so funny the Flat Earthers. The best is their explanation for space travel

Other nations who claim to have operational space programs similarly are faking theirs so to appear to be on par with other developed countries technologically. It is unknown whether or not the space agencies of the world work together to uphold the illusion of space travel.

hehehe
