One thing it did, was not give it all to you at once. Guns, ammo, upgrades, roundhouse kick, then out of no where your suplexing monks. The build up to the boss fights. Reload animation was amazing. Backtracking wasn't a chore, it didn't make you "sigh" when you had to. You can shoot a thrown axe down, shoot it out they're hand and watch him or her pick it up. No boss had to be killed in one way. For me the only game to come close when comes to atmosphere is ZombiU, technically not impressive, but use of filters and post processing effects to really create an atmosphere of doom and gloom.
