After all the talk regarding the launch games we have new images to show the strength of the system.

What are your thoughts on the results? How much of an improvement do this titles show? How technically impressive are they?

I need longer footage of X to judge. Something that isn't a bunch of cutaways.

Wonderful 101 looks great though.

wind waker hd is clearly super early in development. the island is empty, looks like they just finished making the bare island and put out pics. i don't think that should be something to judge by just yet.

Really nice looking. And judging by the Monolith Soft game, more capable than PS3/360. Finally a game on Wii U that looks better than anything on PS3 and Xbox 360.

This is still the first wave.

Lets not get technical. My reference to a second wave relates to titles not rushed for launch. It would be logical for theses titles to be more fleshed out since they can and have adjusted their release to give them more polish. These games are a better representation on what to expect moving forward.

Yep. I expect things to only improve from here. Stuff like Galaxy and WW clearly still look incredible with only a bump in resolution. Their proper follow ups will be sights to behold. Also, X already looks better than XIII and surpasses it in scale and scope and this is Mono's first crack at an HD title

We're barely into the first wave. The titles out now started development before dev kits were even available - they're practically the zero'th wave.

Pikmin 3, TW101 and arguably The Wind Waker remake are still the first wave. Monolith's game can potentially become the third wave. Let's wait for the new Mario 3D game to really see what the second wave is about.

I am personally amazed at how much more appealing Pikmin 3 looks overall. Some textures are a bit bland here and there but as a package i think it looks stunning, especially in how vivid and vibrant the colors look and the overall visual aspect of the world has a very, umm, SOLID feel to it. I see this hard to describe aspect prevalent in all of Wii U titles shown.

This is still the first wave....Wii U isn't even half a year old yet.

Yoshi: looks good, not amazing but good. Reminds me of LBP.
X: ASFHADHGADH!
Wind Waker HD: I like it but I want to see it in motion, It'll be my first time playing Wind Waker.
Pikmin 3: Looks great aside from the flat ground textures
W101: I made that first gif for a reason. It looks amazing. So much going on all at silky smooth 60fps

I also think these games are all first wave. But regardless, they all look 7th gen quality but none of them look outdated per se. At least not yet.

The artstyle is something else in all of the games though.

Without nitpicking "X", all of the games look aesthetically very pleasing. And I will perhaps never buy the console. However, those who do will not be disappointed with these visuals.

101 looks great.

The rpg looks pretty bad to me, look at the water, the poor image quality, the ugly beach , it all looks primitive to me.

Ask me again when Sony and Microsoft reveal their new tech. Perfect Dark Zero looked amazing back in 2005.

These look like current generation console games with well executed art direction.

Yarn Yoshi looks great, although not like something 360 and PS3 couldn't do. Pikmin bullshots look nice in some ways, but they're bullshots. The rest are technically underwhelming, but alright. It still looks current/last gen, but that's not necessarily bad.

The look good, like really great current gen games. I'm not getting that Next Gen feel yet but is great to know the device is capable.

X looks really good.
Wonderful 101 also.
Yoshi does nothing for me, seems a bit like LBP.
Windwaker looks sub-par.

Monolith's game looks outstanding due to the scale and art design. Windwaker HD looks like if Rare made an HD game for the 360 in 2013, a really sterile and clean look doesn't really seem to fit Windwaker's mood. Had a paint brush/oil painting look to it before, it was cel shaded but things blended together well.

Wonderful 101 looks very unique and crisp, the other unmentioned games look very blurry.

From a technical perspective none of them look particularly impressive or surprising(hell Wind Waker HD has the virtually same textures and scenery mesh as the original).

Wonderful 101 looks really, really nice though.

These are screencaps from their art test. Not Windwaker HD.

What's the typical resolution of WiiU games? Is it mostly 720p like the 360 and ps3?

Rayman/MH3U are the only 1080p so far I think.

To answer the OP. Compare these to last gen and it seems clear the WiiU will allow a level of cleanness to be applied that isn't seen a lot in more recent console games.
Still. We'll see what the final games are like.
