This series has given me so many memories. The zany characters, awesome patterns, and record runs really pushed hours and hours of gameplay for such simple titles. Challenge seekers were granted a treat in the recent Wii version with Title Defense mode. Seriously, you know things are getting rough when Glass Joe nearly beats you. Top dollar would be paid for an HD release on my part.

This bastard here always messed with my head.

Those delayed hits man. I thought it was cheating back in the day lol.

Here is the awesome commercial for Punch-Out!! (Wii)

What's your favorite in the series? Who is your favorite opponent?

Side note: I still can't properly beat Don Flamingo(nes)

Don Flaminco can easily be beaten by anyone!

Give him a punch and dodge his counter then left, right, left, right, left, right, left, right, left, right, until he dies!

:D

That's what I always did! I thought there was another way outside of tiring out a few times lol

Edit: That OP is really ugly lol

The guy in super punch out always weirded me out coming from little mac. I did enjoy all the random antics tho especially the guy with the flying kicks lol.

Never played the arcade. Just sat in the arcade looking at it wishing I had a quarter.

That said from what I have played I love SNES punchout. Played the hell out of that game and still do consistently. Although now I can get perfect almost in my sleep.

I've been meaning to play more Wii punchout. It was a lot better than I thought it would be.

I just played Super Punch Out for the first time a few months ago. It's damn fun. The boxers all have their own personality, fighting style and tricks. It's hard as hell trying to figure out their tells and strategy, but so satisfying when you can take them out in record time afterward.

When I reached Narcis Prince, that's when I realized I loved the game.

oh, and this guy can go to hell

You also forgot ARM WRESTLING! It totally counts!

Did those Kickstarter dorks ever finish their 85903859043859034-page Punch-Out!! book?

Soda Popinski and Super Macho Man for life! If you ain't boxing in a speedo, you ain't doing it right.

The Wii version of Punch-Out!! is one of the best re-debuts of a series ever IMO. It is really amazing. I desperately want the team that made it to do a new Pro Wrestling game in a similar style.

(Random: I also wish they'd bring Texas Mac from the Arm Wrestling spin-off into the Punch-Out!! series.)

Super Punch Out!! is one of my personal favourite games ever. One of the only games where I was determined to beat my times. Incredible cast of memorable fighters.

The Wii Punch Out was also a very, very underrated game. Amazing visuals and animations. I still haven't finished the Title Defence mode.

Punch Out! Feat. Mike Tyson Is my fav NES game. I always was more afraid of Mr. Sandman than Macho Man, I loved they fixed that on the Wii version... I just wish that game was harder, the lack of 1hit-KD made me careless.

And Mr.sandman while defending your title is totally MT, with the blinkpunch and everything... I fucking squeed when he lost a tooth during the fight!! Amazing nod

still kinda bummed that awesome kickstarter book didn't work out, i know we all saw it coming a mile away but a digit version leaking would be cool

also what ya'll know bout these punch-out!! garbage cans

Arcade, the others suck

man this is just a bad opinion right here

You forgot Fight Night Round 2 fufufufu
mgfmhcR.jpg

jesus what the fuck happened there, it's like ready 2 rumble bled over into it

Forgot about the guest appearance in Brawl!!

that's how i know i didn't play enough Brawl, i don't even remember seeing him sadly

i never got that far on the non-MT version, that's pretty cool though!

The best arcade-rhythm-puzzle-boxing game of all time!

It deserves at least one iteration a console. I hope to see a new Punch Out!! in glorious HDee on the Wii You. Seriously, this franchise is amazing, not one bad game in the series.

My friend's been playing a lot of the original lately. He's stuck on Mike Tyson now, naturally.

I got him to try out Super Punch Out on SNES and he hated it. Meh.

I love the Wii version but some the redesigns irked me a little bit. Mr. Sandman's face isn't squarey enough and Super Macho Man's face is too squishy squished. Soda Popinski and King Hippo's redesigns are top-notch though...

Also, Mr. Sandman needs the crazy sleep deprived looking eyes from the Super Nintendo game as well. You could say he has punching eye bag's...yep.

I always thought the way the Wii game ended was a little sad. Unique, though--keep on holding on to your title til you WANT to retire.

I didn't care for the extraneous Punch-Out Wii additions (MP, Wiimote, balance board controls), but man, that game's singleplayer is amazing fun.

Really great. I think I like it even better than the SNES version, which was one of my favourite games as a kid.

When they announced I though "what a perfect use fo the balance board" ... I think I tried it only once. NES controls are too perfect.

I'M STUCK ON PISTON HONDA

Seriously I don't remember beating King Hippo as a kid but now I have it on 3DS vc and I cant get past him the second time you have to fight him, he's just too damn quick.

I never saw the arcade version and am yet to play the Wii outing but the other two were highlights on both systems for me.

My god is the Wii game fun. I wish I didn't have a broken Wii so I could play it all the way through again.

I LOVE this series, that being said, I've never completed a single game. I play up until I lose once then shut it off. I have yet to even make it to the last titles in the Snes/Wii games, maybe one day.

One of the few games that can get away with so many stereotypes.
What is everyone's opinion on the Wii version making the boxers speak in their actual tongue rather than putting on stereotypical accents?

EDIT: ^ Did you have to quote all of it!?

Nice touch. I also loved the nationalized theme remixes.

Is one of my favourite series ever. My favourites are Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! and Wii Punch-Out!!
Wii Punch-Out!! would probably come first as the best though. Next level games just too the original and hit the ball out of the park. AND DAT ANIMATION! Best cartoony animation in any game without a doubt, so much charisma in the characters. The characters talking on their own language was a genius stroke. And giving them stroylines that expand with Defend the Title. WOW.
So fucking gooooood. Next Level Games are the masters of remaster if they accomplish the same with Luigi's Mansion... BUY THEM NINTENDO!

The only thing i dont like much is taking away that special thing Tyson gave to the game, and putting fucking Donkey Kong.
I dont know, the idea is not good. Tyson is impossible to do now, yeah, would have been better something like...
Its a dream fight in the original, so they could have made a little cutscene of Mac watching a Rocky movie on the TV, his hero, and sleep in his couch. So he starts dreaming and turns out that Rocky wants to see in a friendly match why Mac is so good and won the title.
That would bring:
-A cartoony stallone that would be amazing, even if its only someone imitating his voice.
-An amazing remix of the punch-out!! theme with Going the Distance
-This ending would have blow everyones socks off. Just imagine Rocky losing in round 3 and saying "This kid is good Mike, it reminds me when I was younger!" Holy fuck, chills down my spine.

Super Punch-Out!!, well I dont know, some charisma is lost. Not having a stroyline with a trainer for the Little Mac wannabe is a little bit shitty. And too many fucking clones. Apart from people like Dragon Chan or Hoy Quarlow have to go with their legs and stick out of the ring. I want punch-out!! to be as wacky as it can be, even with guys cheatting like Aran Ryan or Masked Muscle (because they do it while the "referee" is suposedly not looking, and you know they are cheating, so they make good villians), but things like slow special attacks with sticks or kick anyone can see a mile away. Fucking come on!
I also like more the heart gameplay, than the charge your super thing.
Also Nick and Rick bruiser suck as final bosses, no charisma, shitty design, fucking clones.

One thing I do like is the trainers for each boxer, that was good and something I would love to see in a future Punch-Out!! by Next level, but make that you can see the trainer, like for example, Gabby Jay being the first boxer for the next game and having Glass Joe as his trainer, the animation gags and jokes would be sublime.

Beating Mike for the 1st time...STILL MY GREATEST VIDEO GAMING ACCOMPLISHMENT!! It is just something magical about MTPO that I just can't explain. On my list with Streets of Rage 2 as a 1/2 on my GOAT list.

I don't know why Nintendo hasn't released the Arcade versions of Punch-Out on the 3DS. Seems like that would make perfect sense.

The Wii reboot was a great harkening to the way the games felt while the game did its own thing. I was surprised a sequel come out ASAP but we'll get something on WiiU though.

And his appearance in Captain Rainbow was awesome. You find a fat version of Mac on the island and to help him get his dream you work with him to lose weight and get him back into shape. The mini-game that accompanies it is a rhythm game of Punch-Out. Might be time to go play that again.

The NES, SNES, and Wii versions were all classics in their own rights IMO. I love how each character, in every version, has a unique personality and style.

The Wii version has to be the best old-school reimagining ever.

I was honestly shocked that Microsoft didn't flat out copy it for Kinect.

Gabby Jay, Yey!
I spent days trying to finish him in under 10 seconds; think I got it down to about 7 secs in the end.
