Wow awesome boombox. That is it. I'm not even gonna vote for myself now...to many amazing items being made.

My entry! Started off thinking of the wheels as eyes, and the mudguards as eyebrows/lips.

You all are killing any motivation I had to join the contest. Anything I'd create would look like junk compared to what I've seen thus far.

My entry! Started off thinking of the wheels as eyes, and the mudguards as eyebrows/lips.

Looks awesome. I had a similar idea with the mudguards as eyelids as well, but never worked as well as I hoped. I had made a mask and a set of glasses for some builds. Will post them once things are done. Those did not come out half as awesome as your monster.

Do not be discouraged by the awesome entries. Be inspired. Look at the unique ideas others used and let it spark your own.

I think others probably feel this way, but all entries show me something new I never thought of trying and that excites me. It gives me ideas to use later. That is one of the things I love most about these contests.

I got some really great ideas, like a huge mech with that head...I just need more parts :)

Introducing The Powerhouse Mech!

SHINY HD BONUS EDIT: Forgot to show that the piledrivers can be stored on the back of the shoulder engine.
You also get a cleaner look at the standalone Powerhouse Mech in case you feel that Rex makes the model look better than it is.

=============================================

Main Set

B9vTf04.jpg

Piloting this titanium brawler is the famous Rex from Power Miners, one of THE coolest minifigures ever. (There's a lot of power in this build.)

Details and Articulation

tvScPJ7.jpg

The Powerhouse Mech has ball-jointed arms, ratchet-jointed legs (the clicky ones), articulation in each finger, AND has a flat 2x2 brick surface in each palm to properly grab minifigures. This isn't some wimpy Rescue Robot (5764)!

xcun3rh.jpg

The main piloting area is actually a portion of The Powerhouse Mech's bulky armor that lifts up to accompany any willing and eager pilot.

KSGaG3j.jpg

ipLbBg3.jpg

The Powerhouse Mech's articulation is a beautiful sight to behold. A properly articulated toy should ALWAYS be able to pull off the fabled high kick move, and the ability to knock its knuckles together makes this one tough mech!

The arms also have clips to store extra weaponry if so desired.

t2eIHug.jpg

Lookin' good, champ! (The engine pieces can move backward to accommodate cool action poses!)

Accessories

o9ELywK.jpg

The Powerhouse Mech contains three accessories:
1) The piloting stand can detach (when not in service) to reveal Beacon the Research Droid, the cutest earthen explorer you ever did see!
2) Two piledriver devices can attach the the 2x2s in each arm, creating a very dangerous brawling advantage over any unsuspecting foes. (Inspired by Frenzy and Rumble, Soundwave's piledriving minicons from the Transformers series)
Turning the piledrivers around in the mech's hands creates a cool hidden blaster effect. Thanks unused peg!
3) The Propeller Shield allows The Powerhouse Mech to instantaneously defend itself and knock back foes with strong gusts of wind. Plus it looks really neat.

Poor Firax receives a hearty slam into the ground from his rival Rex.

Propeller Shield
IqjhNKE.jpg

The Propeller Shield can also attach to the back of the mech, creating an instantaneous jetpack to launch high into the air for an earthshaking piledriver attack!

Transformations

Oh, did I forget to mention that The Powerhouse Mech transforms? A few clicks and swivels later and you have the beastly Powerhouse Tank (or the Anti-Aircraft Powerhouse with a little more ratcheting)!

tmbYJDQ.jpg

You can also attach the Propeller Shield to the Tank and send Beacon out on some secret reconnaissance missions.

Anti-Aircraft Powerhouse

Ohhhhhh yeeeeeeah.

Unused Parts
NONE. Every part on The Powerhouse Mech is utilized to its fullest extent. You never want to cheapen out on a quality mech!

The only downside about The Powerhouse Mech is that I'll never take it apart to build the Power Mech. (Good incentive to buy another, I guess! :))

A LEGO mech that can actually GRAB MINIFIGURES? What is this wizardry?

Let me know if I should quote my post if the images are too big.

Great stuff so far! Can't find the set anywhere, though; it seems 2013 sets are slow to reach my neck of the woods.

Great looking Mech there!

I DO have to subtract one point though on my personal coolness factor scale for the semi illegal use of an awesome minifig like that which makes a lot of sets look better instantly ;P

Some great stuff here.

Can't find this set. I guess it hasn't been released here yet.

Someone on a local auction site is selling it for $78 though. :/

To console myself I bought a series 9 mini fig and got the one I wanted - chicken suit! How much do mini figs cost in US? They cost NZ$5 (~US$4).

Might go play with my moc#1 set

I finally found the set today. Minifigs are $3.49 in Canada, and I believe $2.99 in the US.

Thanks! I understand that using such an awesome minifigure may oversell the Powehouse Mech to some people, so I included a SHINY HD BONUS EDIT in my original post.

Thanks for the support! This was the most entertaining and intricate model I've ever created! :)

Dang these are impressive. My kids think you guys are Lego gods now. Boys are 6 and 4 and live for Lego.

I'm gonna start looking for this set and see if I can come up with something.

Tried to build some entries today, did not go that well...
* my first idea went down the tube as I could not get one of the key features to work
* my second idea ended up being 10 ideas on the same time leading to nothing.

Well it was fun to build around, did not give me that much to show :/

However as I tried to build I really started to think that I really got some great parts when I bought this package.

That's sad to hear. Maybe try again? We all do this for fun and not to laugh at each other, every MOC is great.

But to prevent this, do you think it would be a good idea to make the entries secretly and reveal them only for the voting?

Of course I will try again, not trying again was not an option :)

No keep the entries public, that was not the problem, I just tried to build something that in the end was outside the possibilities for the parts I had. After that my brain went crazy with more ideas but as I tried to build everything at once it did not work out that well :)

ok guys and gals, I'm back will update the OP in time.

judging by the entries the set was a good choice on our part, to bad that some members cannot find it anywhere :(

speaking of which, I have to get building soon!

[edit]
ok, OP all up to date, please let me know if I missed anything or miss-linked something. :)

Not been in this thread yet so as not to see anyone's MOC's but I must say the standard is very high.

I finished mine tonight and will snap some pics over the weekend. This is the first time I've tried to moc from one set and I'm now looking at my Umbarran Heavy Tank thinking it would make a good challenge.

Well suck, 2013 lego is trickling in but no sign of the power mech.

Looks like another set that hasn't made it to NZ. The 2013 catalogue is out and it's not in there either.

Here's my entry: Green Upright Vacuum Cleaner

I came up with the idea when I noticed the Power Mech's foot looked like a Swifter Sweeper. I tried to make a vacuum that is slim and sleek.

Leftover pieces

First MOC I've done since getting back into LEGO. Pretty satisfied with it. Sorry in advanced for the huge camera phone images.

Mean Green Dragster

View of the inside and a little of the parachute pack on the back.

Better shot of the back.

Closer shot of the sides. Wish I had a little bigger wheels to work with in the back, Instead I had to raise the back up.

Top down view of the interior. A little hard to make out, but there's a seat there as well.

Left over pieces.

Here, we have located a frog in his natural habitat relaxing on some rocks in the river.
UKwJbkB.jpg

What's this? I think he might have found some food! Notice the tongue starting to extend and the hind legs ready to leap at any time.

It appears a spider has made a web in a nearby bush. Little does it know it's about to become dinner...

Looks like our frog won't go hungry tonight!

Some great models!

I like the tow truck best so far. I like originality and creativity, but I value execution more highly I guess.

Also, I have to unsubscribe to this thread. It makes me kinda sad that I can't play :( (and I want the set anyway - it looks like a fun set!).
