Says the one who is practically obsessed with women's chests.

Speaking of which, are there any shows airing this season with colored eyelashes? I forgot to ask.

Does this count?

Nice!! I just absolutely LOVE Bridget Hoffman's voice!! Definitely a perfect fit for Irisviel.

The animation seemed that way to me too. To me, this episode was a bit lacking compared to others in both framing and animation. Production quality in general just didn't seem as tight. Lol, Dera was pretty animated though.

Yes, Dera was good and some bits like the part with Anko and gramps were pretty nice to look at, but the overall feel of the episode's animation wasn't on par with the first episodes.

What about Ota's storyboarding reminds you of Yamada? I'm not very good at catching things like that, so I'm interested in knowing why you think so. Only thing I know about Ota is that I learned who she was after she directed the episode of Hyouka where they get trapped in a shed.

It was kind of a throwaway joke, but I was referencing the fact that she focused on Mochizou's legs in that cut. Yamada is known for tending to do that on her storyboards (Clannad AS's final episode, that part near the end in the K-On! movie, etc).

Now I wanna look up the budget for the show. That's basically film score music given a decent recording budget. It sounds really pretty and super clean.

I see it's all on Crunchyroll, so i'll start that soon.

Check out the soundtracks to Sora no Woto and Allison and Lillia while youre at it.

Windy Tales 5

What seemingly started off as a poignant take on what it means to be an Adult managed to turn into some utterly surrealist and engrossing fever dream about the ethereal nature of travel (complete with geography lessons!) before completely pulling me back out again with the incredibly whimsical Ending. I'm pretty much stunned by just how effective this episode was at pulling me in and out to the point where it felt like it wasn't even trying. Incredible.

Strike Witches 2 END

I finally finished this. This second season did everything I wanted it to. It mostly focused on the characters who didn't get an episode to themselves in season 1, which is exactly what I hoped it would do. I liked the finale a bit more in this season then in the first but a few of the other episodes were a bit weak. The treasure hunting episode was the worst episode from the entire series, it only had one good scene with drunk Sakamoto. I also thought the episode where they were in Rome was a little bit boring. Episode 7 is a true masterpiece. Overall I think I liked season 2 a little better then season 1 and I'll watch the movie soon.

After you watch the movie I hope there'll be someone else waiting desperately for a third season. Perhaps based on a different JFW.

Mamoru Oshii had a Nico talk titled Mamoru Oshii Pisses Off Half The World (no seriously that's the title) and he was asked, yet again, his thoughts on Hayao Miyazaki.

The following is a rough translation of the transcription of his talk. Oshii talks really weird and since this is an unedited transcript, there are alot of non sequiturs and jumping around. I'm using the yaraon summary of the talk versus the actual transcript because this one makes more sense and is on topic.
It's always nice to see Oshii dump a much needed bucket of shit on Miyazaki. He's always so honest about it too.

This is getting really pathetic.

The Roman holiday (ep 5) being on the dull side was a real shame, especially since Lucchini's my most beloved witch. At least she got screentime in other episodes too.

It is kinda fascinating to see his criticism of Miyazaki especially with the backdrop of the cult of personality that's formed around him. Miyazaki movies sell for no other reason nowadays other than the fact that its Miyazaki making them.

Overman King Gainer 18-

Fucking Tomino with this passive bullshit.
He doesn't even confront the guy who killed his parents
. There's also some bad directing with emotional moments not handled well at all on a directing standpoint. There's a really dramatic moment and they have music playing over it. This is just a sloppy episode all around. There's no payoff for any of this. Story is also stuck in a monster-of-the-week format that is starting to grate on me.

Yeah, it's pretty refreshing when you consider the coverage Miyazaki gets everywhere else nowadays.

And now they've managed to spin it into an actual, honest-to-goodness fanart contest.
(Well, maybe this was planned from the start, but there's no way to know for sure.)
Now if only they'd put this much effort into their encodes (see Medaka Box: Abnormal).

As much as I love the 501st, I'd definitely enjoy seeing another set of witches.

Fumikane has shit tons to work with if AIC or whoever decides to pick up SW again. The 502nd are probably my favorite of the non-501st, but there's the Misfits light novel series that would probably be adapted assuming the author isn't still dying.

Millennium Actress
This was some great stuff. After seeing it, (and being this is the last Kon film I hadn't seen) I can safely conclude this is Kon's finest film. The script, direction and overal vision behind this film were all superb. Everything was connected somehow and the visuals were pretty cool too, not paprika levels of visual flair but that helped it more than anything as I don't think that would fit this particular film. This film is about the story of an old actress seen through her life roles and filmed by a long time fan and unknown to her
co-worker
the way in which scenes transition so organically and are thought out in a way where not a single element of this film feels wasted is most impressive. Definitely a film one should at least watch, more so if he is a fan of Kon's work.

Stream only future.

Where is this even from?
Ouran High School Host Club if you mean the pic.
Edit: or I think. Am probably wrong.

I see that Aniplex decided they didn't want to play along. Probably figured their minimum prize would be rather expensive.

Tamako Market 5

Easily the best episode so far, like virtually over 15 minutes of screentime dedicated to the best character and his various dilemna. I can only hope he manages to get high enough courage in the end and be successful in his endeavour. Worst scene:
the girl trying to get in the way of him confessing, as if she was trying to hog tamako for herself, what even?!
.
