PS4 Controller - Dualshock 4 Unveilved

I've held a few iterations of the new controller.

The last prototype, which leaked a few days ago, feels great. The triggers, the analog sticks... they're SO much better than the DS3. Heavier, too. Don't worry guys.

Haven't held the one they showed today though... but it doesn't look very different.

I'll report back when they've sent us the latest version.

You won't get in trouble for that?

Wasn't 100% sold on it when they first unveiled it.

I actually said out loud, "They didn't fix the fucking triggers!"

But, I dunno.. now that I look at it more, it's growing on me. Looks comfy. Glad they kept the superior symmetrical stick configuration.

We'll see how the triggers feel, I guess.

Don't know if old, high res

Did they confirm that the touch pad clicks down? It looks like it would but I don't remember them saying it. And why does it curve over at the back? The prototype had a similar feature but more angular.

Looks great (and awesome compared to the prototype). So the light is not really integrated Move but optional depth sensing function with an added peripheral? Seems tacked on at this point but whatever.

Edit:

Oh shit. Looks even more amazing in press photos.

Like how it's laid out and the ideas behind it but I hope they're not completely done with the design yet. Doesn't look as nice as the PS3/360 controller imo, it still seems kind of rough.

sharing and options is the new select start? whyyy??? "press options to pause the game"? "press options for maps"? "press options for further options, since wie dont have select for a map and start for start/pause a game" not port number indicators.

The share button pauses the game.

Why is the freaking D-Pad so predominant in 2013? It's used to change weapons and whatnot. Move that shit out of the way and put the analog stick in a more ergonomic spot already damnit.

i hope ps3 controllers are compatible with PS4

i think the design should stay the same no matter how far in the future playstation is, because it's already perfection

Looks much sleeker than the prototype. Speaking of which, I wonder if I'd still be impressed by it had they not leaked that ugliness.

Those triggers seem really nice, wish they actually went through and had a second revision of the DS3's as going throughout the entire generation using R1 as a fire button instead should have clued Sony in on how useless their "triggers" were.

Like what I'm seeing with the controller, looks like a comfier DualShock all in all. Though I wish they kept the prototype's d-pad.

I'm probably doing it wrong, but my damn thumbs always hit each other on the current DualShock. More than anything I'm so happy about the extra width moving the thumb sticks apart. The grippy ridge on the thumb sticks in a welcome addition as well.
