Irrational Games Announces BioShock® Infinite Season Pass

Get three all-new add-on packs for the price of two, plus the Early Bird Special Pack full of exclusive gameplay-enhancing bonuses

Windsor, UK – February 21, 2013 – 2K Games and Irrational Games today announced that production of downloadable content has recently begun for their forthcoming BioShock® Infinite and revealed details of the BioShock Infinite Season Pass*. Three all-new add-on packs are in development that will provide hours of additional gameplay and continue the player’s journey in the sky-city of Columbia with new stories, characters, abilities and weapons.

The BioShock Infinite Season Pass will be available on March 26, 2013 when the game is planned to launch, and provide nearly €30.00 of add-on content for €19.99 (PlayStation®Network, Windows® PC) or 1,600 Microsoft Points (Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network) - a savings of more than 30%. The Season Pass will include all three add-on packs, and can be pre-ordered today through www.preordernow.com or at a participating retailer**.

Those who purchase the BioShock Infinite Season Pass will also receive the Early Bird Special Pack at no extra cost. This bonus pack contains four pieces of exclusive gear, a Machine Gun Damage Upgrade, a Pistol Damage Upgrade, a gold skin for both weapons and five Infusion bottles that allow players to increase their health, their shield durability or their ability to use Vigors by increasing the quantity of Salts they can carry.

In addition, those who pre-order BioShock Infinite will receive the Industrial Revolution Pack for free. This pack grants exclusive access to three in-game gear items that boost combat abilities, $500 bonus to in-game currency, five lock picks and the Industrial Revolution puzzle game, which unlocks stories of Columbia and allows players to pledge their allegiance to the Vox Populi or Founders through Facebook.

BioShock Infinite is rated PEGI 18. For the latest news and information on BioShock Infinite, become a fan on Facebook and follow Irrational Games on Twitter.

*Xbox LIVE, PlayStation®Network or Steam account and Internet connection required. Copy of BioShock Infinite required for play.

**For Xbox 360 this is a purchase of Microsoft Points, redeemable via the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for Xbox 360.

I like that Ubi rolled the AC3 Season Pass into the DDE of the game, but I suppose it's a bit late for 2K to offer a BioInf DDE considering the game has been pre-purchaseable for months now.

Pre order bonus for a season pass ?

Strange to be sure, but at least it isn't exclusive.

Season Passes are bullshit.

But Minerva's Den was pretty awesome....

But that wasn't Irrational and Bioshock tat seems to be on sale every other day on XBL....

:/ I don't like these Season Passes. Anyone else?
I think for people who were going to buy it all anyway, it's a great deal. But usually the quality is never consistent enough to justify the full cost. And due to Steam sales much of the individual packs go on discount by the time it has all released anyway.

Cash grab from stupid people with more money than sense.

I hope there's another 2K snafu and the Season Pass is initially up on Steam for $16. ;)

If you have a 360, don't buy it. Bioshock DLC is on sale nearly every month, so this will be on sale for sure a little while after release at like 50% off.

The only season pass I've bought was for Borderlands 2 and I felt pretty burned by the fact that it didn't even include all of the dlc. Bioshock Infinite is one of my most anticipated games right now, but I guess I'm waiting a year or so for the goty edition. Plus I'm tired of this nonsense where we are supposed to buy DLC sight unseen and then they have like 3 interns crap out some garbage that is of a way lower quality than the original game.

I have a feeling Ken will be departing from Irrational after this game launches

.

also this is fucking stupid... will i be playing the full game on release or not.

screw this decision.... it was going so well until this.

i will not be getting the season pass, obviously, and likely will consider the vanilla game the true game.

but... i might eventually play the dlc if it blends nicely into the true game.

I bought my first season pass for BL2 and honestly, not worth it. By the time most of the DLC comes out, I am done with the game and moved onto something else.

Plus I am tired of Facebook integration since it adds no value to the game ever

What bothers me about a Season Pass for this game in particular is the fact that DLC that is produced for such offers tends to be trivial, such as challenge maps, rather than quality story-focused expansions on the level of Minerva's Den.

Also, regarding the preorder bonuses, does anyone else see the cognitive dissonance between an incentive that makes the player more powerful at the start of the game, and the inclusion of the supposedly hardcore 1999 Mode?

I'm still not wavering from a Day 1 purchase, but this is a big disappointment from Irrational.

Has there ever been an article on the nature of publisher-driven DLC? Do most publishers force the DLC mandate on developers, or is it a symbiotic thing?

More cheat items to make the game easier.... I'll pass...

actually, the season pass is for 3 new main story content things.. the cheat stuff is just a bonus.

i overreacted a bit earlier in this thread...

so i'm kinda coming around to some extra main story content. it's not so bad i don't think.

This almost makes a GOTY or Special edition in the future a certainty, so I will wait for that instead of waiting for the price drops, provided the game is really good.

I'm not bothered by the season pass thing (though it does dissuade me from buying the game at launch) as much as I am with all this nonsense:

Those who purchase the BioShock Infinite Season Pass will also receive the Early Bird Special Pack at no extra cost. Fuck. That. Shit.

I've regretted the few Season Passes I have purchased (Saints Row 3, Borderlands 2 because no more interest to play Borderlands 2)

I think I'd rather wait it put and she'll out the extra cash if I find the content worth it.

So these are three single player DLC that have more story that expand the lore of Columbia?

I'm ready

I don't know if I should. I hate these kinds of business practices. But I love Bioshock and want to support Ken Levine and his team.

Oh, what to do...

It would be easier to accept/understand if they went out and gave us some insight into what those add-ons will be whether they will be expansion like and do story stuff like Minervas Den or if it will be a stupid arena based sruvival thing.
