Diablo III fans angry at PS4 announcement

I think this is just an easy scapegoat to transfer the anger from the stupid decisions that were made for Diablo 3. I don't think that Blizzard actually compromized their gameplay to dumb the game down for console optimisation personally, I just think they're not as good as they used to be which resulted in mediocrity.

I dont think blizzard as a whole is worse compared to the old days. Starcraft 2 is still amazing
There were happy days on D2, happy people on Path of Exile and Torchlight from what I've seen so I don't believe it's a genre thing or series specific. I think it's just Diablo 3 that I've seen most of the angst and vitriol

Honestly, I thought Blizzard pulled the lamest announcement they could. I was silently chanting "Ghost! Ghost! Ghost! Ghost!" when they entered the scene and all I got was a boring port announcement.
Also, Torchlight 2 is a better game than Diablo 3.

No, you aren't! I'd totally love Diablo if its combat were any good. Click-spam on monsters just makes the whole thing boring, even if the dungeons, loot and atmosphere are cool. Imagine a mix of Dark Souls-style combat with the dark fantasy atmosphere of Diablo 1 and with a Borderlands or Diablo loot system... *drools*

The core mechanics of Diablo seems obvious for a controller. Some "area point" skills are surely designed purely for mouse, so I don't buy that Blizzard was really designing the franchise for consoles.
I'm sure Titan being a FPS (pretty easy to adapt for consoles) is the real conspiracy.

I would love to see peoples reaction when console version of D3 won't have always online DRM. Joy for years to come.
I digitally preordered D3 day 1 and played it till completion. It's inferior do D2+LoD in almost every way imaginable, but I'm going to want this on a console anyway. By the time it comes out, I hope they will have patched out/changed some of the things that bugged the shit out of me.

Diablo has much more fun moment-to-moment gameplay. There's a lot more feedback and twitch reaction required to play it. Ignore the pursuit for loot for a moment, and you have an obviously superior game off the bat.
Though this was always an obvious deficiency of D2's. D1 was far superior in comparison in this regard, too.
Though ages ago, it did take Blizzard a long time after release to shape and balance Diablo 2 into what it ended up becoming (true for all their franchises of the last decade). I'm sure we'll see massive improvements with the first expansion. This game will last more than 10 years easily, and take many forms on the way.
Still also kinda funny people initially being totally hooked and pouring some 200+ hours into the game to just end up calling it crap on message boards.

The bolded is the most interesting thing to not find out. Because if it doesn't and it remains the same as the PC by requiring to be always online, then that potentially tells us something larger about the PS4... Or it may just be MAG 2.0.
Roll on cross platform play and happy days. Me on the PC and my bro or partner on the PSwhatevernumber. It'll be great!

Not really. What if you can just download the client free and log in with your existing Battle.net account and play your PC characters? And what if registering your PS3/PS4 copy also gives you access to the PC/Mac versions?

diablo 3 is a good game mechanically, it's just poor every where else. Level Design is probably the least random/interesting of all diablos. Item DROPS FUCKING SUCK. Affixes for Champion mobs pre nerf was fucking super not fun.
Some people would be mad about this no matter what, but the real sting is how bad D3 is in comparison to D2. I don't think that has anything to do with D3 moving to Playstation. Mechanically some things had to be simplified, but simple doesn't mean inferior.

I would not be so fast as to absolve the vitriol spewed towards consoles by some of the noisemakers in the PC community.
Then again gamers on a whole seem to be looked upon as a whiny bunch of entitled children.

Like atmosphere, music, art, boss voices, randomization? Can't fix that I'm afraid.
