Media Create Sales: Week 7, 2013 (Feb 11 - Feb 17)

So why expect this to be WiiU's savior?

I don't think anyone ever said that in the history of a Media Create thread. Wario is simply the next and pretty much only known release for Wii U right now, so it is something to look at. Will it boost sales much? Probably not. Is it better than what the Wii U is currently getting? Well yea, anything would be.

As Takao said it's not Mario Party and should be compared to previous Wario ware
First week/LTD
WarioWare Touched! (NDS) 117,677/1,136,255
WarioWare: Smooth Moves (WII) 63,086/654,200

Plus I don't think anyone think it's gonna save the WiiU, it's the first relevant release on WiiU since it launch so that's why their is discussion about it, Dragon Quest X which will be release 2 days after will have more impact on hardware sale even though it's just a port.

Since people love comparing Wii U & Gamecube:

WarioWare: Mega Party Games: 100,628 / 400,785

Though G&W really isn't a WarioWare title either. It's a more traditional, "deeper" minigame compilation, probably more along the lines of Wii Play Motion or Nintendo Land. The Game & Watch Gallery games are probably even closer than WarioWare really.

I'm not gonna be multiplying anything for 2. It'll be just the number Famitsu shows.
Sure, i didnt mean it like that :) I dont think that Famitsu will seperate the two SKUs either, at least they didnt do that with Earth Defence Force 2017 Portable, which also had a double pack. I just ment that i'm sure several of people will buy the double pack and split it with a friend, which means one "lost" sale when it comes to tracking. That is why i think it is worth concidering it when predicting, because the tracked sales numbers might be lower because of the double pack.

How much effect the double pack will have on this is very hard to say though. With Earth Defence Force 2017 Portable, the double pack sold more than the single pack, at least in the 1st week.

Each SK game sold 100k, so expecting it to be become more popular when it moves to a less popular system is being very optimistic.

Has such a thing ever happened? (For instance, a PS2 series that went on to sell more on the Gamecube?)

Diffrent audience - look like that rubbing card game is selling and it will be raiding on price cut wave which makes it not impossible.

Altrough i'm expecting it won't outsell 3DS version as it kinda looks like spin-off.

Yeah, I know. It was pretty much the only thing I could think of that improved sales going from PS2 to GC though. At least in Japan.

i hope G&Wario sells good. it's worrying that the latest minigame compilation games have done not as good as before (Mario Party 9 had a massive drop compared to 8)

Animal Crossing should hit 3 million in Famitsu next week. Mind blowing.

This makes me really interested to see how Tomodachi Collection will do, seeing as most of the big hits on the 3DS have been games that have a large amount of social interaction (save Mario 3D Land).

Damn, Senran Kagura predictions are really low too. I would say 80k+ FW.

Eh, I see it opening quite a bit lower. Marvelous AQL is having quite an affair with the Vita so far, although they're coming back to the 3DS with King of Pirates and Dragon Marked for Death sometime, and probably Rune Factory 5 and Senran Kagura.

Haha I think DIY is a secret classic, it's the only user-creation game with a tutorial designed thoughtfully enough to get me to make my own stuff and the downloads/sheer visual variety kept things really fresh for me.

The minigame compilation tanking I remember most is Wii Play Motion, it's almost unbelievable how badly it did. Kiki Trick is a little more understandable I suppose.

Looks like Animal Crossing: New Leaf overtook Pokemon B/W2 roughly 2 weeks ago (launch aligned). The graph shows that Animal Crossing is a far more leggy series than Pokemon due to how Wild World would then gain another 2 million after it's first year, which bodes well for New Leaf. Also:

After 1 year (or less) [From Garaph]:

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl - 5,283,004 (325 Days)
Pokemon Black and White - 5,304,286 (365 Days)
Pokemon Black and White 2 - 2,916,833 (232 Days)
Animal Crossing: Wild World - 3,346,780 (361 Days)
Animal Crossing: New Leaf - 2,857,599 (94 Days)

Further showing how amazing New Leaf's sales are.

The other commercial only have 1 thumb down in comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YWcK6ykNu0

I wonder if that other link was posted on a certain forum or in a certain thread.
Hmm? That ad was taking a jab at Monster Hunter.

Plus big digital sales, still facing stock issues and no signs of slowing down. 5M is on lock.

It's not the time to release Tomodachi Collection, I think Nintendo is doing drugs or something. And I don't think people care if they hold the game for another year.

As for Marvelous on the 3DS, bomba, vaporware and invisible games. People were excited for that Inafune game, but not anymore, they lost momentum.

Well, I don't really see another timeslot that they could have put it in. It would have been surrounded by MH4/Pokemon X/Y if they released during the end of this year, and March already has Luigi's Mansion and May already has SMT IV. So...

Also, Marvelous got its major profits from the 3DS before randomly releasing a bunch of games on the Vita. I'm sure they'll do something.

I think it will be overshadowed by AC, even during Golden Week.

And I'm sure MMV will come back to the 3DS, but will they sell as much as before?

They have games on hold because of a decision to support a Sony IP and release 50k games. I'm sure the money hat was nice looking, but sometimes you have to look at the future.

Those Vita games won't build momentum like Harvest Moon, Rune Factory and Senran Kagura did. They were one of the top selling publishers on the 3DS and now they are back at the starting point.

It had two releases in Japan:

The naming is based on the US release, which often results in confusion...

Isn't the second one the international version?

I have

牧場物語 しあわせの詩 = Harvest Moon: Poem of Happiness
牧場物語 しあわせの詩 for ワールド = Harvest Moon: Magical Melody
for ワールド = for World

(Mario Party 9 had a massive drop compared to 8)

Mario Party 8 was done by Hudson Soft, which has since been closed. Mario Party 9 was done by ND Cube. Now, a lot of the Mario Party team from Hudson Soft joined ND Cube, but the game itself was also very much a departure from the first 8 Mario Party games. Declining Wii, in general, along with the 5-year gap since the last Mario Party probably had a big impact, too.

While I know you're referring to strictly Famitsu sales, we know the title has already sold 3 million a little while ago due to the digital sales.

Well to be fair to Nintendo, they probably started on development on the title assuming AC wouldnt take 3 years to develop. I wouldnt be surprised if the title has been ready for a while and delayed it a couple months to make way for AC.
Well, I don't really see another timeslot that they could have put it in. It would have been surrounded by MH4/Pokemon X/Y if they released during the end of this year, and March already has Luigi's Mansion and May already has SMT IV. So...

Well they couldve released it in 2014 but I think its silly to delay a title for so long even though there will be overlap from Animal Crossing. Im also curious how it'd perform.

DIY was pretty shallow at the end of the day. making minigames was fun but the minigames themselves were too simple and the main game didn't feel as diverse as the past ones.

It wasn't anymore shallow than the previous ones. There are even straight 'ports' of older microgames going back to the first one. And the shop aspect, with other products than games (comics and records) made the game more diverse than previous games.

The focus on self made content probably put some people off. Even though it's much quicker to make a microgame than to make a LBP level. And not everyone could get their DS online to get more microgames, a lot of which were quite excellent. Pushmo on 3DS thankfully doesn't have these problems anymore, it's really the creative continuation of DIY.

I love how when a game does bad commercially people will blame it on the quality of the game and make unfounded statements like the one above. WW Touched was being called shallow for the majority of games being about drawing lines. I guess the original WW wasn't shallow even though "all you did" was pushing buttons.

WW is about super simplistic games where the whole challenge is to grasp the concept in seconds. The nuances of 'shallowness' in these games cannot even be measured. In the end, each control scheme allows for plenty of variation.

I'm not sure why anyone was ever interested in that Inafune pirate game. It was Dynasty Warriors with animals.

They're doing a TV anime for that, so I wouldn't call it a guaranteed bomba or something.

Ah ok, i thought both commercial said the same thing, so i was wondering why only one of them had many thumbs down, sorry. Then it makes more sense if the two commercials are different :) I wasnt referring to any thread on NeoGAF or any specific people here just to point that out, i was just speaking in general.

I dont think that it necessarily is a dig at Monster Hunter by the way. It is certainly directed at Monster Hunter and games alike, but "change" can just mean that it is different, and Soul Sacrifice is a bit different to other hunting games, from what i know at least. But i guess it can be interpreted in several ways.

Yes, which is why it is the one that I have with the American title (based on Gamefaqs). I just kept the title of the original Japanese version, that was technically not released in the West, half-translated. ("Poem of Happiness" was probably a literal translation used before an official English title was given.)
