It's probably been mentioned, but didn't the Wii CoD games sell decently? It's more a case of userbase, launching the console late and launching this version after others.
Userbase is the biggest one I think, since many would rather play with their mates on the PS3 or 360.
Mind boggling numbers, so bad.
The game sold 170k so far, (yeah, yeah, ********, complain about the source) what were they expecting, half a million? CoD 3 sold well on the Wii, but since then each game has sold progressively less as it became clear that there was a big gap (at least graphically) between the Wii version and the PS360 version.
CoD is the 5th best-selling game on WiiU in North America, behind only ZombiU and Scribblenauts, and 6th best-selling globally, behind Monster Hunter and Sega Racing. The gap between Nintendo and 3rd party sales is pretty staggering, but it's always been this way. Anyone actually expecting to sell more than 300k - 1million on a Nintendo console is in for a shock. A few titles get lucky but that code has not been cracked.
Still if Nintendo wants any Western 3rd party support they better keep promoting and bundling the heck out of ZombiU. If a big exclusive like that can't hit 1 million, we have a real problem.
If Activision actually wants to keep a good relationship with Nintendo I'm betting it's for Skylanders and possible Guitar Hero-ish revivals.
Maybe it's profit-sharing issue? I can't imagine there being any other hurdles besides one having to do with money.

Your shtick is getting irritating.
How about you keep your banal comments to your own crappy blog and stop shitting up threads?
We get it, you think Kokatu gets a raw deal. You don't improve things with this passive-aggressive drive by trolling every time you post.
this is a problem that feeds on it itself.
a blackhole that will consume the wiiU.
See Opiate's response to RoombaDance.numbers?
So was this the mysterious game mentioned at DICE that was supposed to sell a million copies on Wii U but now the publisher thinks will never come close to it? Most people were guessing Assassins Creed 3 or Skylanders.

This is slightly off topic but how would you even go finding this article? I can't find anything else he has written and his twitter is suspended. Where would something like this appear for the OP to see it?
make the most of your penance, OP
i'd click the link, but just for the inevitable Amirox joke/hate
as was said, this was uncalled for - he was right to point out the garbage source OP had (kinda surprised this thread's still open), and this had nothing to do with kotaku.
i mean, posts like this are inevitable; as was said, the narrative is already written for some, so no reason to bother clicking links

I picked up many exclusives. Many were good to great but they weren't free of problems. Little King's Story with no pointer control was silly. Red Steel 2 had great controls but not a very exciting overworld or story. Made as a Star Wars game and earlier in the Wii's life it would have sold amazing I think. I agree with the idea of a malaise developing around a platform. Look at the people trying to get Xenoblade now - where were they when it released? They were not paying attention to the Wii anymore or figured they'd get it in a bargain bin.
Searched around. Sooner or later, I always ended up at Emily Rogers twitter account.
Giving you 1 minute to remove that source. Hint for juniors: the name is starred out for a reason, don't try to subvert our obvious attempts to prevent you from using these sources.
wiiU sold less than vita in the latest media create. just saying.
my remark is also 100% true.
My apologies. I understand how it may appear, but I had no attempt to subvert the rules. I was merely commenting on the unpopularity of the source, but I thought bad numbers would be butter than no numbers. I was unaware the source was blocked before submitting (Preview button may have helped).

Activision didnt expect much from Wii U sales of Black Ops 2, but they sure didnt expect it to be that abysmal. Activision gave Wii U owners the best version of Blops 2 with Off TV features, and Nintendo fans didnt support it. Its easy for Nintendo fans to trash publishers for not giving them ports, but publishers have wisened up. They realize Nintendo fans are all talk. Nintendo fans are vocal with their mouths, but when its time to open their wallets, theyll spend that $60 on New Super Mario Bros instead.
It's like they're asking for flames. I hope they are ready with flame-proof suits.
This is what I found.

@AceBandage85 Yo. You were one of the realest dudes at NeoGaf. Fuck those GAF mods for permabanning you.
What if they didn't say it?
while that's true, it's not what OP was talking about, and people were directly replying to. it's also true that his source was garbage.
your remark was vague hyperbole that said nothing relevant here, balls
Put your money where your mouth is.

Did you write this article?
In the OP? No. Why would you think that?
--Sorry didn't know the source was that hated. Are numbers forbidden as well? Gonna go read through the forum rules for answers to try to avoid banhammer.
They expected it to sell better.I just don't understand what they expected.
The there is 0 reason for third party to develop or publish games on Nintendo consoles. Many people who initially bought the Wii U either 1) bought it mainly for Nintendo games
Dumbfounded? Really? Well we will see if PS4 and Nextbox COD sales will be this abysmal. As with most Wii U news these days, I'm mainly dumbfounded by what people expected to happen with a new console in its first three months while launching in a global recession.
They expected it to sell better.

If Nintendo products consistently crowd out third party product from generation to generation, then it is an issue that Nintendo has to provide leadership on if they want their platforms to be more successful, whether it be around helping third parties raise the quality of their offerings or helping time releases better.
We don't even know what CoD sold on Wii U. Because this magic posting claims Activision says sales are abysmal doesn't mean anything until proven.
It's not about "hating" something but ensuring, as much as possible, that GAF-approved sources of information are reliable.
Less than 100,000 sales in two and a half months for COD is pretty damn bad. It's a new console launch though, so low numbers are expected. But still.
Ding!Does owning a Wii U make you only a fan of Nintendo? Maybe people bought Call of Duty on the console they have been playing it on with friends for the past 5 years.
The online is fine. But yes people won't shift from their established platforms. It's not rocket science. No serious CoD player is going to shift to an online community that s a joke to the numbers 360 and PS3 put up.
So..is anyone actually reading the source and engaging in any degree of critical thinking here?
Thats about what, 3% of consoles. That's pretty reasonable ain't it for a third party game that came out later than the consoles with 150 million install base. Didn't CoD on Wii sell about 1 million with an 80 million install base?Less than 100,000 sales in two and a half months for COD is pretty damn bad. It's a new console launch though, so low numbers are expected. But still.
It sold like shit. There you go.We don't even know what CoD sold on Wii U. Because this magic posting claims Activision says sales are abysmal doesn't mean anything until proven.
Make better games than Nintendo then. You're generic dude bro shooter #1000000000000000000 ain't gonna cut it on a Nintendo system.
If the numbers were from Wordpress and were posted as a rumour would it be ok?
It's hard for me to believe that third parties mean much to Nintendo. If they did, they wouldn't have released a console on par with current gen machines in the very same year that newer iterations of those consoles are coming out. That's not something you do if engendering third party support is high on your to-do list.
