Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

With the lack of 3DS online play (without a Wii U), I also would think Wii U would be the bigger seller. As least in the US.

One would hope. But the user base isnt as significant as the Wii was when Tri came out. So we'll see. I dont think it'll be a system seller, but I hope tons of current users will be drawn to it due to lack of titles on the system.

I just finished Plesioth with the great sword (for the 4th or 5th time). Run in, unsheathe strike, roll away resheathe, run back in. Try to keep up a rhythm of hit and run strikes to the belly or legs. It's good if you can set up a pile of bombs first then fish it out and blow it up while the monster is flopping. I save my trap until it's drooling because it stays stuck in the trap for a long time. Perfect for getting off a few charged hits. In the water I just swing away whenever it's in range since it can be hard to maneuver.
I am also trying with GS. I don´t use traps because I don´t know which items they are nor how to use them.
Question, why does it sometimes stay idle, just standing there staring at the horizon waiting for me to freely attack him with my GS? Is he mocking my poor skills, and given its size and endurance, inviting me to come scratch his back?

Thanks, I'll try the fish out method to help... and I didn't realize that the traps worked better when it's drooling... awesome tip!

I never really used barrel bombs in Tri, I guess I was really missing out on some serious damage!

Apparently, some Toys R Us stores have broken the street date and is available for purchase now. I'm going to check out the Toys R Us later in Tukwila, WA. 3DS and Wii U versions are being sold. Taken from GameFAQs:

There's an item in the box called a shock trap. It's very useful for holding the monster immobile. As for Plesioth standing still. Most monsters hold still and pant or whine when they're tired, but Plesioth will also just stand and tilt its head this way and that for a couple seconds while it's still energetic. My impression is Plesioth is just not very bright and has to stop now and then to think about what it's going to do next.

Haha, so apparently [some of] the "cursed tables" don't allow you to get Rustshards, either. What the hell, Capcom.

I'm going to aim for table 10, but as long as I don't get one of these whale shit cursed tables, I'll be fine with whatever I'm assigned.

Well shit if true. Guess I'll be visiting the fish monger just to make sure I'm not on the cursed tables. Beyond that I don't care.

Don't know if this info has made it here yet, but it could be worse then we thought.

Athena updated her program and added these comments:

Athena updated the program to v.0.33b.

From Athena:

It now forwards-supports multiple languages (don't actually have any yet), also I added RNG/seed data for people who want to charm snipe.

I also updated the FAQ with Vuze's English fish table site, and the timing info for landing on each table. And it seems that on tables 12 and 16 you can't get Rustshards, which are required to make Atea/Atea X armor.

I have this horrible feeling that charm tables influence drop rates/rare carves. Oh god... the ramifications...

Anyway I have to sleep now cos it's like 3AM and I'm barely awake. Hopefully I didn't just break everything.

Don't certain specialty game shops in NYC always break street date?

Hmm... I"ll have to check in on that, I wasnt planning on getting the 3DS version, but if I may pick it up early just to get through the tutorial stuff before I get the Wii U version. And I guess to have a portable version.

I hope not. It really wouldnt make sense for Capcom to prevent users from getting certain materials. I understand if its just to shake up the charms, but if it gets in the way of carves and drops, then thats a massive fail.

consensus across the community from various sites is that it's a bug of some kind that the coders at cap jap forgot/missed. No hard evidence of this, just speculation for now.

Can someone explain this for a newcomer to the series, plz? :)

Which part? The cursed tables have been talked about a lot already, scroll back a few pages. Or do you mean Rust shards?

Rust Shards are a rare reward item or rare mined item you get that then uses an RNG to see what it turns into. It starts as a horrible weapon but then can be upgraded to a decent LR weapon if you get one you want early enough.

Rushtards are these weapons you can get when mining. They are basically ancient, so they are pretty shit when you get them, however, when you upgrade them completely (basically fixing the weapon), you will benefit greatly since they are good. There is no downside to getting rushtards, so not getting them is pretty bad.

Wel in MH Tri the tables existed, but they were set for each play session, each time you loaded the game (either hit "new game" or "load game"), not when you created the game (hit "new game").

In 3GU, only when you're creating a new game is the table set.

I visited a local game shop during lunch today, I was browsing the 3ds section, and suddenly behind all the marios, zeldas and kid icarus I found it! Monster H.....igh 3ds.

I was exited I had found the game early, until I realised it wasnt the kind of MH I was looking for.
