Found something I feel comfortable sharing since it's from someone else. I googled the studio name and JP4 to see if anything was already out there and found this post on another board:

Thank you! Im actually starting to feel like JP4 may still be on. =)

(If you can comment further, any word on a time frame?)

I don't know why they're pushing for a summer release. If it slips to winter/fall, so what? HAS NO ONE LEARNED ANYTHING FROM JAMES CAMERON?!

I haven't asked anyone but I did a little digging and Planet of the Apes is scheduled to begin filming next month in New Orleans:

If we give it a 3-4 month window for filming and take the previous comment into context I would say we're looking at July/August start date for filming. If I pick up anything concrete, I'll pass it along.

Hm, Ok.

I think its fair to say that if it does film around those dates that the movies release will be pushed back, which I think is going to happen one way or another already. Also, the 9 month schedule that the other guys mentioned seems off- maybe thats the internal development time for production & post? No way this movie will take that long to film.

But all if this banks on whether or not Universal actually has a director lined up. I imagine its got to be hard getting a director on board if the script etc. is already finished meaning the director will have very little creative say so late in the game.

Why? JP was mostly CG with limited practical dinos. In fact, I have no problem with the new JP being ALL CG considering how realistic it's getting. Rubber dinos don't hold up as well, no matter how well they're made.

Two articles mentioning that JP4 is indeed underway and crew are being hired and meeting already. They mention that the director is being kept secret and then speculate the return of Spielberg.

Hitfix:

Right now, Universal Pictures is very close to starting production on "Jurassic Park 4." They have their offices open, they have their fake cover title they're using, and they are hiring people and casting. It's happening. There will absolutely be a "Jurassic Park 4," as they announced, and it's underway.

.....

Crew who are meeting on the film aren't being told who is directing, and it really does force us to question why there's such a veil of secrecy.

Bleedingcool:

I’ve heard a lot of talk about Jurassic Park 4 over the last few months, and I’m not sure how true any of it is. I’ll go with Hit Fix when they report that the director is being kept secret, though.
And I don’t mean secret from us, the public. I mean secret from the crew who are going forward for jobs on the project. This doesn’t mean the big department heads, but other folk, further down the pecking order.

....

It seems set that some of the film is going to be shot in Louisiana, and I understand that the production has also been looking into a return to Kualoa Ranch, where the first film was shot. This suggests a trip back to Isla Nublar in the plot.
And Legacy Effects, the studio that continues the work of Stan Winston, have at least been trying to lock down the Jurassic Park 4 gig. They may have succeeded by now… or Universal may have taken the business elsewhere. It’s been a little while since I heard anything about this. I’ll be curious to see how it pans out, but a deal with Legacy was definitely on the table.

I highly doubt Spielberg will return, but these two articles both imply that production of this movie is definitely happening. Anyways, judging by Marshalls tweet I expect a director will be announced soon.

While I don't think Spielberg will return, it isn't completely out of the question. Robocopalypse was put on hold, so he's got an open space in his schedule. Production is supposed to start on the TinTin sequel soon, but he's just producing that. It's obvious they already have the director set, and things are ready to go. I would put more credence to Spielberg directing than some hack like Joe Johnston or Jon Favreau with the secrecy surrounding the project.

If he is returning I can almost guarantee the movie won't be called 'Jurassic Park 4' but have a title closer to 'TLW' but with a more fresh start sound.

So, here is everything known/rumored about JP4 that I can think of:

-Spielberg met with Mark Protosevich to start brainstorming/writing Jurassic Park 4 in 2011

-Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) were brought on board to write the script/story in 2012. They are the writers of the movie.

-Colin Trevorrow is directing and has seemingly been involved since at least June 2012.

-Frank Marshall on CG: "That’s what’s gonna be great about it, technology’s taken a leap now that we can really do some great things"

-Frank Marshall on animatronics: 'Marshall promised JP4 is still going to utilize animatronics, so as to make the dinos not only “[feel] real to the audience, but [aid] the actors in their performances.”

-Legacy Effects (Stan Winston Studios) strongly hints that they are involved

-Production is most likely taking place at Baton Rogue/Celtic Studios Louisiana starting in April

-Production also will seemingly return to Kualoa Ranch in Hawaii (first movie location) to film

-Rumor: wont be called 'JP4' but rather will go the route of a subtitle like TLW

---

I just hope we start hearing plot and or casting news soon.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I didn't want every dinosaur to be retrofitted with feathers, but on the flip side I wont them to go the opposite direction and try to make the dinosaurs monster like and scary. I was really hoping to get a small feathered dinosaur like a Micro Raptor to replace Compies. Im just afraid they may go the route of making them more like the Kong dinosaurs in design, big stupid monsters.. like the Spinosaurus.

I always appreciated Jurassic Parks blend of science and science fiction.. I hope the Dinosaurs are still fair representations of them as animals.

The dinossaurs in Jurassic Park are not a real recreations of the real dinossaurs. They are indeed monsters. Its cool with me if they left the feathers out to maintain the world more cohesive. The use of feathers would made more sense if it was a reboot or remake I guess.

I'm ok with no feathers in the context of JP. The dinosaurs in this case are genetic experiments, not a species that evolved over millions of years. The splicing of Dino DNA with Frog DNA could explain the lack of feathers (a line of dialogue saying as much would be nice though)

No JP4 for me then.

Seriously? Because they're going to avoid giant chickens? They're not going to change the lore of the entire series, you fucking knew that. Don't be so dramatic.

ps it's probably gonna suck anyways so i guess it doesn't really matter

Seriously. Im not saying I want the Tyrannosaurs to be feathered- keep him the same. Hell, keep the Raptors the same.. but I would have liked to see feathers on some of the animals. Imagine being chased by a rabid flock of fucking Microraptors:

Or hell, feathered Raptors (from realistic to stylistic) could work pretty well-

Jurassic Park went out of its way to state the Dinosaurs were animals, not monsters.. Yes, it took creative liberty, but even so I tried to embrace science. I do not want fucking monsters. We got that with JP3, and it was trash. (I realize they can still embrace them as animals without feathers, but even so, I wanted to see some feathers. ) Embrace the science. That was the idea behind the first movie, and to follow suit, feathers are an inevitability. Yes, I do want them to follow the canonical appearance of some of the Dinosaurs as well, but making shifts towards science, especially with newly introduced species is a necessity IMO.

Guess we're just pretending that JP3 didn't happen now.

Or The Lost World for that matter, for color differences (I think there are slight changes in the design/size, as well).

I don't believe there is or ever was such thing as a "Jurassic Park raptor canon/lore" or at least no good reason to explain the differences between the raptors (and other dinos) on the island, other than the director wanting their own look and/or producers wanting new toys.

That animatronic T-Rex is fucking beautiful. Damn I love this movie. I can't wait to see the 3D one, not because it's 3D, but because I get to see JP in the theaters again, 20 years after I saw it when I was 14 years old in 1993.

I was born in 1986, I remember seeing this movie with my parents, was amazing.

Only thing I like about no feathers is that they would probably look weird on animatronics or even CG. I imagine the leathery reptilian skin is easier to do.

Still. Fuck. =/

Lame.

Public perception of dinosaurs will continue to lag behind science by decades.

The only way I accept this is if the movie calls attention to their lack of feathers as scientific anomalies. Otherwise this is regressive nonsense.

This. Fucking people don't learn anything about Paleo anymore if it wasn't in a JP movie.

What a disgrace.

Yup.

Fuck, the Paleontologist in me in pissed. I thought for sure we would see at least a feathered dinosaur introduced alongside the featherless ones to embrace that part of science. Like I keep saying, JP is at its best when it embraces science.
