I still need to really sit down and play through the first game some time. I can never make it more than an hour without getting kind of bored.

Uhm, he can still know.

What does that have to do with anything? I know that the villain in Ocarina of Time is Ganon but I don't claim to work for Nintendo. You don't have to develop a game to know basic things about it.

This is a pretty dumb thing to say, I'm sorry but it is

How? It's cute when youngsters say things like this for no reason.

Nintendo doesn't make games?

Also, have you ever looked at the credits for a game? All kinds of people at the developer, publisher, and outside of the company collaborate to make most games.

On to the topic at hand, the game looks fantastic!

No, the publisher Nintendo doesn't make games. They have studios that do that. You need to learn to separate Nintendo (developer) from Nintendo (publishers). You should look up how game development works.

Deep Silver is the publisher for this game, this guy works for Deep Silver so he probably knows stuff from the game? What's so weird about that? I really don't get your argument.

He used to work at THQ before it imploded, I think he was the brand manager for Metro over there. If you search for older gameplay videos or interviews about the game he's the british guy with curly hair.

That still does not explain why LonelyGreyWolf is getting upset about that and claim no one knows the difference between publisher and developer.

It shows that he's more than a PR guy for Deep Silver, I guess. No idea why lonely grey wolf got upset.

Edit: Just noticed this:

I've grown a despise for publishers. Developers aim to make good games. Publishers aim to make good money. The majority, anyway. It annoys me when a man working for a publishers act as if he is developing a game. He's not. He's doing PR for it. As for the last thing you said, I didn't claim that "no one" knows the difference, my response was at only one user.

On-topic, by the way, I forgot to say what I originally came here to say: The game looks really good. I really want to play it. I love atmospheric games. I want to avoid spoilers though so I'll do a blackout on the game. I'll listen to the key-points reviewers have to say when reviews come out, but I'll most likely buy the game eventually anyway -- not sure at what price though.

Is this one going to be fun? I didn't find Metro to be too engaging despite its visuals. Never finished it, in fact.

From a technical stand point? Yes. Artistically? No.

No idea where the hate for Crysis 3's artstyle comes from. 2 I can get, it's just bland and the color scheme's odd, but I thought they nailed what they were going for in 3.

Metro 2033 is a game that you play only for the atmosphere, really. The gameplay was pretty average. The AI had loads and loads of issues. I hope they've fixed that in Last Light.

Metro 2033 was hit and miss.

I had one of the most intense and enjoyable firefights in that game - stealth punctuated by sheer terror - but the monster sections sucked hard.

"It looks fantastic on 360 as well, but [on PC] you have a different potential that you can hit," said Beynon, before revealing there are currently no plans for a next-generation version. "If someone asks me are we doing a next-gen version - well, yes we are. It's the PC. We're one of the few studios out there that have a proven piece of tech that's built for high-end PCs. I firmly believe that the PC version of Metro: Last Light is one of, if not the best looking game you can actually buy, period, at the moment."

I wonder why they wouldn't put it on PS4?

Sounds about right. Wonder if they're going straight into something else for next gen then

But will the PC version get higher res assets this time? They claimed so the first time but they game was the same size as the console versions and the only thing that looked better was the lighting.

What? I remember the PC version of Metro 2033 having significantly better textures than the console version.

Crytek will crucify them if they read this, haha.

Bison will the PC version have 360 gamepad support?
(couldnt find any info on your Steam page regarding this)

I'd be in the dick
Putting it on ps4 would be bad because it wouldn't have all the bells an whistles of the pc version. It would look bad

Huh? It's coming to PS3 and 360 already.

Anyway I hope the PS3 version is decent. I've wanted to play the first one for a long time but don't have any way to play it. I'll pick this one up if it doesn't run like ass. It seems like a game I'd love.

A few questions to answer...

Ranger Mode - it's included in the initial production run of the game. A pre-order basically guarantees it. But it'll also be available as DLC from day 1.

We live in a world where retail demands you have a pre-order offer in place. We figured this was the least abrasive option. We really wanted to do a cool limited edition, and you can read why that didn't happen here:

http://sticktwiddlers.com/2013/03/21/metro-last-light-interview-guns-gas-masks-gameplay/

Also - Ranger Mode is really suited to a second playthrough, I'd really advise against jumping straight into it. You need to learn the control scheme before we take the HUD/UI away, it's much more complex than 2033 was.

That GameSpot footage - it's from our late November build. That's me playing (yes, with a controller - I think Metro plays better that way) on PC. We used our trailer agency's capture rig, the same machine we use for footage for the trailers. It's packing a single GTX 590. We'll show you some capture from triple SLI Titans at some point...

Yes, we support 360 pads on PC

PS4 etc. - we might, we might not. If we think there's a commercial opportunity for a next-gen version we'll do it. I guess the question is, would a PS4 early adopter want a previously released game, or something new?

Me - yeah, I'm the Brit with the curly hair. My patience for the lazy, cliched depiction of the publisher / developer divide is as thin as the parchment they signed the Magna Carta on.

I spoke to Huw last week as apart of this press tour and he definitely knows his stuff about the title. He was able to answer my questions which went back to the beginning of development.

Thanks for the clarification on Ranger mode.

Please answer this for me, how will my 670 sli setup fair with Metro Last Light? If a gtx590 can come close to maxing Metro Last Light I'll be happy.

I will most certainly buy your game if it hits PS4. Just sayin'

How is the PS3 version, in the meantime?

Game looks incredible on the PC but will we see some ps360 footage before release? afaik there isn't any console footage out there.

Metro 2033 looked and run awesome on the 360 and I'm really curious to see how Last Light looks and runs on the consoles. :p

Pretty obvious don't you think
Anyway all that info sounds great. I don't think my single 670 will max the game at near 60 fps but if I can do over 30 all the time I'll be happy. Doesn't need high frames for a single player experience I don't think

Expanding on that: are there going to be English subtitles that expand beyond the main story dialogue? Very little of Metro 2033 actually had subtitles, which meant ALL the non-core dialogue had no subtitles, like idle chatter, the Commissar's speech, and other such moments, which really detracted from the overall game experience.

I hated that shit in Metro 2033, there are some really cool side conversations that i can only listen if i set the game audio in english and i really wanted to play the game completely in russian.

My second playthrough was in Russian. I loved hearing everyone speak in their native tongue, but the lack of subtitles (beyond the important stuff) killed the experience for me.

Too bad to hear the AI is binary (from the Rev3 Sessler and Tara Long video).

I know this isn't a survival horror game, but after I Am Alive, I can't look at combat with human enemies in a post-apoc game the same way again where you could fake having bullets and force enemies to surrender.

Coulda bullshitted up a gold gun or some silly preorder bonus nonsense (and i'm saying that in the goofiest way possible - I'd hate a gold gun in Metro haha) as opposed to taking out the preferred difficulty mode of many wastelanders, but alright.

Well I have hope :( I really don't want to have to get a third 670 to keep up and I damn for sure wouldn't try to get a titan.
