Skullgirls DLC Crowdsourcing - Completed, $829,829 raised, 4+1 characters funded

Honestly just increase the salaries that were downgraded. $600 a week might've been calculated for livable income but it is useful to have flexible income for comfort and to cushion yourself against personal setbacks.

My best guess was that one of the reward tiers had a middle man that they were able to cut out in order to develop them. Doesn't seem to mesh when NDAs get involved though.

Maybe Microsoft refunded some of the money they've spent on testing? I can't imagine they'd suddenly waive whatever they plan to spend on testing in the future nor do I believe the testing fees themselves are going to get cheaper.

Cert. costs looks like it fits.

$48,000: Staff Salaries - 8 people for 10 weeks
$30,000: Animation and Clean-up Contracting
$4,000: Voice recording
$2,000: Hit-box Contracting
$5,000: Audio Implementation Contracting
$20,000: QA Testing
$10,000: 1st Party Certification
$10,500: IndieGoGo and Payment Processing Fees
$20,500: Manufacturing and Shipping Physical Rewards

Alright, the bottom two aren't character line items, and the two sound and hitboxes probably aren't going to span $40K worth of waivers over 5 characters. *completely pulling things out of my ass at this point*

Alright, so I don't think M$ is going to be doing LZ any favors at all. That's why I didn't go with 1st Party Cert. I think it would make sense for Marvelous to pay for the QA costs of two characters though, especially if they're PC exclusive for awhile . . .

Speculation!

Writing up a post-campaign update right now, but thought I'd throw this out there...

Non-disclosure agreements with the powers that be prevent me from getting too specific, but in the last week one of our character development line items has evaporated. This means we’ve got an additional $40,000 to play with now.

Naturally we’ll be using this money to give the 2nd fan-selected Mysterious Character a stage and story mode.

Goddamn, this is the best thing ever. Mission accomplished.

Deciding which characters to vote for is tough. First round is 4 picks, right? Roxie is my #1 but for the other 3 I just can't decide.

I wish I had any amount of drawing ability, haven't seen much support or fanart for Roxie yet.

How many people bought into the custom color palette tier? Maybe I missed it, but I don't think I saw anyone mention the amount.

I think it started with 8 or 9, then it doubled after the initial sellout. Uhh, Did it jump to 20 when Big Band was confirmed? No, I think it went up to 24 for some odd reason . . .

And then it was sold out and removed to make way for other stuff . . . .

Maybe?

FIVE characters with stories and stages, and free to the general public?? This is madness

It's free for the first few months only. Since most game sales occur in the first month this isn't a big deal.

[edit]
I think the voting process should be done in rounds for each character instead of voting for both characters at the same time.

It would be a good way to extend awareness of the game while the DLC is being developed.

aw man, we can't have that. hustle a dollar from somewhere and throw it up when they get the paypal for direct contributions set up

hmm, i donated twice (kawaii emergency) so maybe i can get ravid to send you a vote link in my stead
Haha, that's alright man, rather let the good people who donated already get the most out of their donations! I'm sure you could find some long-time SG supporter in this thread that's more worthy of getting the vote!

I haven't read through all the playstyles yet, but I plan to once I get some free time.

Regarding Double, all of her moves and characteristics are unique. She's a full fledged character.
She is, but because she turns into the other characters and has their (altered) moves, she's not really adding much of herself to the appeal of the cast (and I do really like her idle animations.)

A very Japan Time sort of method?

Vote Juju and Stanley if you know whats good for you and the world. Thank you.

Way ahead of you!

That doesn't sound like Issac and Leduc and/or Panzerfaust

Isaac and Panzerfaust is good too.

We gonna need lots of "Vote ????" designs and avatars

And 2nd mystery character getting a story mode and stage after all? Fucking sweet

If Skullheart goes back up before the vote ends, I will be representing my choice(s) through avatar for sure.

Here's my guess:

"$10,000: 1st Party Certification"

Sony has announced that patch fees for indies are being eliminated. MS is likely addressing the issue as well. This line item times 4 (one for each character patch) = $40,000.

So a few things

1- What anime is this?

2- Aside from Squiggly and Big Band, what characters are gonna be made now?

3- Where can I vote for what character(s) I want or has that ended now?

1. Hyouka from Kyoto Animation

2. Robo-Fortune and two fan-voted characters

3. An email will be sent to all indiegogo suporters ($1 or more) on Monday with a survey starting the votes

Logically, this also makes the most sense to me.

With that money they can hire the dude who posted here that he would work a full year doing all the work for a new character for less than U$150,000.

Are you able to get animation done all at once for multiple characters, or do you have to do it sequentially?

They work one character at a time, as it's much easier staying consistent in their art style. besides, that means we'll get a constant trickle of characters to keep interest strong.

MS being nice?

Nope. Plus I didn't know Sony was eliminating them on the PS3.
