TRAIN HEROES 1

Yowch.

So it seems that (to oversimplify massively) in order to get around Chinese business law, TV Tokyo did some finagling with licensing to make Train Heroes an entirely Chinese production.

It's a shame that they didn't think about the fact that the animators would synch everything to Chinese dialogue, though. The lip synch is atrocious - sometimes there are trains flapping their "mouths" and no-one speaking, or characters speaking when their mouths aren't moving etc. Of course, the animation and art in general is unsurprisingly dreadful - they don't even animate the wheels on the trains!

Even for "kids' show" aficionados there's nothing of real interest here, other than laughing at the janky CG.

Although the episode does end with a look at some train stations and trains in China, which looked much classier than anything they could come up with in 2100 if Train Heroes is anything to go by...

This looks impressively horrific.

It's quite obvious. Your favourite anime is shit and my opinion is fact. I don't make those gifs for a laugh y'know.

.

Haibane Renmei is shit? :(

Just finished Wolf Children! The artstyle was reminiscent of The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and it was only after I finished watching the movie I learned it was made by the same director. Wolf Children was a good movie but nothing that hasn't been done before. Its a typical story, with wolves mixed in, I like movies about parental love and a mother trying to raise her (wolf) children, and Hana was a good mother. I'm not a big fan of slow paced storytelling, therefore I didn't like the first half of the movie, it started having its moments towards the end, there was drama but it wasn't really heartfelt. Nevertheless, I liked the movie, it could've been better, it could've been a lot more emotional because I felt I could drop a tear or 2 with some scenes, if they were done better.

My score would be 7/10

As awesome as that might be, I don't have much confidence that Crunchyroll will sub the songs.

Depends on the licensor and how awkward the music label wants to be - song translations usually have to be approved by the original artists, which is frequently difficult and unrealistic to manage to streaming timescales - but both the idol shows Crunchyroll streamed this season, Love Live and AKB0048, had song translations in place.

Ah, that's good to know then.

You want song lyrics getting in the way of the visuals?!

Music comes first, the pretty boys are just a bonus.

I turned 21 today. I still feel more like a 16-year old pretending to be older. Having my birthday on Easter Monday sucks since almost everything was closed.
Happy Birthday, Metrotab!

I am very fond of this series, and I really enjoyed writing about it. It served me to put my thoughts in order while rewatching it, and also to train my English writing skills. Thanks to everyone who read even one of those posts, they must seem like long pointless stretches to many, lol. I was often surprised that I could write paragraphs and paragraphs for each episode, when before starting it seemed like I had nothing to say at all.
I hope that you can find something on which you are equally fond of looking through your backlog/re-watch list, so it keeps you working on these nice write-ups!

Poor Tadakuni.
One would be the invisible, but the other doesn't even seem to exists outside his own dreams!

Can't wait for Food Smut anime adaptation.
Anything that keeps tosh away from what he has been doing until that work seems like poison to me, those weekly magazine editors absorb all your strength until you are completely subjugated by a routine you can't escape once you reach a certain status. Say no to expanding that continuous cycle of serialization's popularity boosts through trans-media and parallel promotions, that could end up draining him for good! :-(

I think the cut with the 3 girls flying in the sky was Kameda's cut? I'm not sure but it was probably the most likely cut he did in the OP.
Was that scene one of the featured on these multiple Mr. Kameda examples from the 'genga' book? Haven't watched that movie and all I remember is seeing some sparse fragments of it... that and all the flaming threads on /a/ with many shouting "QUALITY", while busterbeam kept trying to counterattack on every one!

Credit here for the ex-GAiNAXer Mr. Sadakata too... who I thought was still at GAiNAX by the way... who is left anyway from their own list? Mr. Saeki, Mr. Kuwana and part of the old guard at the Board of Directors? I understand more than ever why they dropped some months ago that 'STAFF' section from the official website!

So after finishing Wolf Children, I thought of watching Great teacher Onizuka, dub or sub, what is preferred?
I don't know how the English dub is so...
I loved the French dub though.

Definitely a must-see AND a must-read since half of the manga has not been adapted.

Sorry, I was talking about Gargantia! Kameda's cuts in FMA Milos are -very- obvious while watching the movie, so most people won't be able to miss them. It's a bit harder to tell for Gargantia right now because Kameda specializes in action and there aren't any obvious action cuts in the OP! :D

Yu-Gi-Oh! ZeXal II 75

And here I thought we would finally reach the point where the protag can duel on his own without the need of MAGICAL SPACE ALIENS.

I should know better.

Oh, thought you were talking about that film because I forgot Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet already pre-aired. Sorry then!

Mouryou no Hako - 12 (END)

Well, that's that. The story took a turn for the morbid at the end, but I got the mystery down. Everything else (the mythology, the mouryou stuff, what the writer had to do with all of it) stays in the dark however.

I'm simply not observant enough for this show. Too many layers of symbolism and deeper meaning going.

I'm rating this show 6/10 for its great atmosphere and impressive representation of early Industrial Japan. However, this was the least enjoyable out of the 4 shows to me.

Yu-Gi-Oh! ZeXal II 76

I-it's not like I enjoy seeing the protag get beaten up in duels to an inch of his pathetic life. N-not like it doesn't happen in every duel either. B-baka!

Enjoy your shitty male lead. #stayfree

Meh. I liked Touma, but really I mostly like it when Touma was with Misaka. When those two arent playing off each other I feel both shows drag for me.

Meanwhile the main sidekicks (index and kuroko) annoy me terribly.

Bah, I wish Crunchy could've added the real episodes 10 and 11 for Wandering Son, it doesn't look like it's licensed in the US.

Yeah, unfortunately they didn't bother. Presumably they would have had to pay extra and it wasn't worth it.

I'm still amazed that they got the DVD only episode of Sora no Woto, to be honest.

The AnoNatsu lead isnt bad. He just chose the wrong girl. But a lot of leads make that mistake.
There is only one girl in AnoNatsu though. The other one is dead.

Welcome to the NHK! - 10

Man, Satou has some real psychological instabilities going on. And he definitely needs to solve that problem about not knowing anything of Misaki.

Misaki feeding the cat was damn adorable.
