Reducing negative buzz, at least people actually watch the first eps now.
The background actually really great.
That seems like an extremely risky strategy to me; it only works if people actually like how it looks. Otherwise they might feel like they were "tricked" into watching it. Also, I'm not sure you would actually gain more viewers that way, since many people would probably skip it since they haven't seen any advertisements for it.

I like it. The pacing seems oddly fast but I like the character interactions, plus that sensei is super hot. There's apparently an Aoi Yuki character going to be introduced, so that'll be fun.

Onizuka is dealing with Urumi Kanzaki, a super smart girl with an IQ above 200! Also known as a school terrorist, she went had a childhood trauma and hated teachers ever since. Her motives to terrorize school don't make lots of sense though. What I also don't understand: at ep17 when Onizuka accidentally pushes her with his butt from the building she looks like she didn't care, but at ep19 when they jump from the bridge as part of Onizuka's life lessons she is suddenly afraid of dying. Wtf?

+ excessive reuse of animations (why rotoscoping?) and backgrounds in the first episode.
+ not giving a fuck about lip synchronization

Oh god yes. There's a reason both Jintor and I changed our avatars after watching it. It's one of those that sticks with you for a good while after you finish it. I love it.

Why not rotoscoping? It's just a different animation technique. I do agree with the rest of the criticisms, but it's not like rotoscoping is inherently bad.

Don't oversell it. I was oversold on the show and ended up being pretty "meh" about it as a result. Just recommend it instead.

I understand completely. I'm speaking as a person who used to do it all the time. When you fall in love with a show it's hard not to simply gush about it.
I mean if it was for a point (like it was in Scanner Darkly or something) I could see a point (Hell with Flowers of Evil I could see it being "This is what you're becoming Japan, cut it the fuck out") but nothing in the episode suggests that and instead says "We couldn't be arsed scraping even the meager animation budget we are normally allowed for a show.

Oh, it's probably not. It just happened to be one of those things that inexplicably hit me really hard, and I loved it. I'll definitely try to be a little more conscious about overselling it from here on out.
EDIT: But it IS totally way better than Kotoura-san. Like...waaaaaaaaay better. :lol

From the many rewatches I've done with the show, you sort of see all the flaws with the show and it really isn't that great when you look at them. I still absolutely adore the show because it was one of the first anime I've seen and was depressed for like a week or so after watching it.

So good. The Black Organization's music is just out of this world. Conan always has a good soundtrack, but this episode was just especially good. It was moody and atmospheric, and there was so much great stuff going on. Gin and Vodka showing up, Haibara's dream, and some great character moments. Oh, and a brief appearance by Chris Vineyard. It's almost time. The first real evidence of the Gin/Sherry sexual relationship comes in this story, too, and you start to really get a sense for how damaged Haibara is. Seeing this great story adapted into the anime is something I've been waiting for for a long time, and the first episode definitely exceeded my expectations. Especially because of how much Gin steals the show every time he's on screen.
Plus, it had some cute Haibara/Conan moments.

I'd agree with this. It was partly because of all that hyperbole, that I felt compelled to watch it in the first place. Conversely, it was also the reason that I wanted to explain my eventual feelings towards it, because I felt it had been done a disservice.
So, the moral is...continue?
