Jem was truly outrageous, though. Truly, truly, truly outrageous.
So contagious!

Now we're in the crappy sports mode of the show. So, I expect 10 episodes of blahblahblah cards blahblahblah fake character development before Arata shows up again and the three leads can finally meet for the first time this whole season.

Well it added to the mundane gritty tone of the whole thing. Though I'm left kind of wondering why bother make it an animated show at all and not a live action show.

Live action is expensive. What they are doing here is probably more expensive than if they just animated it normally, but it is still less expensive than making a live action production. There are lots of stuff you need to make an actual competent live action production - props, proper sets, lighting, etc. Plus, while you can do a lot of post-production touch up on animation to mask the actual age of the cast, it's a lot harder to do that in live action. It's already obvious most of the cast is too old to play middle school students as it is.

The irony is that it still looks better than any live action version of the show would look. This is an industry that can't even make outdoor lighting look right, let alone everything that's shot indoors.

The only reason I really ask is because the 13th movie, The Raven Chaser, actually deals with some cool Black Organization themes and has that overall darker tone to it that can be found in their respective episodes/chapters. It does all this and somehow manages to not step on the actual plot's shoes. It's a lot of fun.

Cool. I've heard about that movie, and have been interested in seeing it, especially due to my love of Black Organization related things. I'll be looking out for it when I get around to watching some of the later movies.

Yeah I agree. The worst thing about Asian TV industries is the lighting. I mean, sure it's not easy, but goddamn it doesn't have to look THAT amateur... does it? Lol.

True.
I do love my dramas though, but they'd look better filmed with more than one flashlight.

Solid episode. Yes it was sports heavy, but it was enjoyable. The tension between the two teams and the progression of Chihaya as a player made this episode a good one.

I really don't know why they can't figure it out. They really should just hire some Americans to shoot some shows for them and train up their guys.

Unless it really is a case of not being able to afford the proper lamps and trying to get away with natural lighting.

Poor Bucock getting ignored. The Alliance government really is filled with incompetent fools. The contrast with Reinhard giving war positions to a chamber filled with skillful Admirals couldn't be larger.
And Julian is not only good-looking, he's apparently able to keep high conversation with a room filled with diplomats and politicians. Is there anything this boy wonder can't do? He's like James Bond, only chaste.

Karneval - 01

It was "ok" but i'm not sure i'm intrested or not ..

they did try some action but it wasn't that impressive but the setting can improve so i guess i'd watch next episode

Cool stuff. I expect the next episode to be good and everything else after that to be shit.

is this the technique used in Kill Bill?

So did Aku no Hana save anime or

Anime cannot be saved unless it is put in danger first.

Now I wanna stay up just to see you self-destruct.

It's gonna be awhile. I'm writing a 20 research paper tonight (I'm on page 12) and I stop once a page to watch an episode, or once an episode to write a page, if you will. I also have to make a good dinner tonight.

Damn right!

New Lockon fits the show, because he's as awful as the rest. Old Lockon didn't belong in the show because he was a quality character with development and thoughts.

Detective Conan 177:
TMS did a fantastic job with this episode. The scene when Conan is calling out to Haibara and
she gets drugged from behind
was pretty much perfect. In fact, just about every scene with Haibara was perfect, as you saw her despair and acceptance of her situation increase. Last episode we saw how reckless Conan can be sometimes (he also continues this somewhat here, contacting Megure as Shinichi while the Organization is involved), and this time is really showing his nasty habit for never telling his own allies what he's thinking, something that always seems to be causing him problems. (Just think how much anguish could have been saved in the Vermouth arc if he had just
told Agasa his suspicions about Araide.
)

Wanna hear a good joke? Waste your time helping me! LOL!
Nah, I meant your posting was worthless. hth

His post in response to Haly, or his posting in general? If you're saying the latter, lets not even go there because that is complete BS. Dimb expressed his discontent with memespam in the thread, that's it. It is known that meme posts are a turnoff for some folks.
