Media Create Sales: Week 14, 2013 (Apr 01 - Apr 07)

And to think I expected Vita at 24K this week, despite the lack of software. Guess I was just overcompensating for lowballing it for most of March.

The price cut's impact might yet surpass my expectations (no improved baseline), but it's probably already fair to call it a failure from Sony's perspective, as I'd say 20K is the bare minimum baseline that might get the larger third parties to positively reevaluate their investment in the platform.

Lol! It is still the second highest selling piece of hardware for the current year. Unless 3rd party devs are only going to start putting their games out on the top platform, I think PSV is in a pretty good position if it can maintain this momentum. Btw, the 3ds also dropped 10K units from last week.

I wonder if Nintendo is going to maintain the "Year of..." homage for next year, starring a different character to showcase. If so, any guesses for who it'll be in 2014?

Year of Zelda
DLC to play WW U as Tetra, Zelda 3DS with Zelda as the MC and unveiling of Zelda Wii U, cooperative game with Zelda playable.

Back to the CD-I days !

8. Kids in my classes are drawing Luigi pictures in their notebooks and in their artwork (alongside Mario usually) I have been here for almost 9 years and its the first time I've noticed this. He is almost always ignored. In my mind that is the final proof that this is the Year of Luigi.

But Vita owners told me that the system as going to stabilize at 30k per week for the rest of the year!

I am willing to bet that you can't find evidence of this assertion. I have followed the past months media create threads and it seems to me that the general consensus amongst PSV owners was that the new baseline post-price cut would be between 15K to 20K which seems pretty damn accurate.

But that's just it - there's no particular reason to think that it'll be able to maintain any momentum. The only announced software that's likely to cause even halfway decent bumps is currently undated (GE2, FFX, J-Stars), and due to being multiplatform, all of those will be lucky to sell even 150K retail.

Who? I remember many people saying it would go down <20k the week after the pricecut, it held out for another month.

It was a joke.

Well my prediction was off by a couple of weeks.

Alot of people didn't take into account the price drop, since we never knew about that til it basically happened. Without the price drop, the Vita would have never held out for this long.

English. Pretty much all a foreigner can teach in Japan. But I'd like to think the students teach me as well...

And captain Rainbow is a great game. I have 4 copies. 2 of them signed by Skip employees. I just feel bad when u see a copy abondoned in the Bomba Bin for 500yen. "Don't worry little one" I say, "you're coming home with me"

Team NINJA games sold like crap lately, even DOA5, they better come up with something or some people it's going to be fired.

Too bad that they can release game after game and Itagaki it's MIA.

(I think) These are the only Vita games that appeared in the Famitsu Top 30 in their 5th week:

19. Soul Sacrifice - 6.052 / 162.238
26. Minna no Golf 6 - 4.776 / 93.795
21. Persona 4 Golden - 4.630 / 193.412
23. Demon Gaze - 2.612 / 46.745

lol, I'm surprised you haven't adopted a kid or two.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
Slightly higher Wii U number than I was expecting, given that the I assume the bump last week was purely for the DQX bundle. If Nintendo actually had some games coming out maybe it could get a bit of momentum.

Have all previous Animal Crossing games sold this well? 3m in Japan alone is monstrous.

I actually think it's approaching 4 million right now, if we include download sales/cards. The DS outing is at 5,200,000 but New Leaf is outpacing it by a lot.

Are you saying the ones who worked on Metroid Prime Trilogy, or DKCR?

Trilogy.

Boy did heads turn.

Apparently 3 of the leads at the time were fed up with the lack of creative freedom so they wanted to leave.

And tried to lure many other folks to come along, Nintendo didn't take kindly to that.

Remember the Infinity Ward incident? Same thing.

In fact, DKCR was given to Retro because they were freed up due to this.

Yeah people expecting over 100k vita for the month are going to be disappointed. Vita has 0 games for the next 2 weeks. There's only a downward trend coming here, although the lasting effects of the pricecut did last weeks longer than many expected, but you just can't do much with vita's lineup. Either Sony announces some more games soon or it will be right back to 10k making even less money.

OK, so those guys at Armature right now didn't work on DKCR.

True. The game lineup for the next few months though seems good - although I play smaller titles vs. larger (I'm a bit Terraria obsessive).

And just wait for the PS4+Vita combo package...it'll happen...I swear...

Muramasa kicking DQX and G&W butts still.

G&W will probably top it next week. I expect it to manage to chart until the 100k or so stock is cleared out.

Vita is a bit lower than expected but we'll see. Most of us wanted to see it stabilize around 15k or so.

Gotta love dem moving goalposts. 2 months ago people were predicting less than 30k for the week the pricedrop was supposed to happen. Now the system apparently had to sell at that level forever.
