Nintendo ending various Wii channel services on 6/28

the only good one was the check mii out channel. I used to import all those look-alike miis to use in games that supported them without having to do anything myself.

This is actually quite saddening. I loved the Mii Contest channel.

I did really like some of these Wii OS features. Though some never made any sense... I never really figured out what on earth the "message board" was.

They're shutting down the Nintendo Channel? That's too bad, it was nice to have all those videos there. I hope they're backed up somewhere, or are on Youtube, or something... and yeah, the DS Demos section of it was nice too.

I also hope is everything backed up, I liked Nintendo Week and never got to see them all

Somebody has saved all the music right?

I was thinking about this, the music on them is good, somebody has to have it, right?

Activity log is a great feature. Can't believe they are going to get rid of it.

They should create a new channel just for the activity log.

Agree, I love the activity log on the 3DS and its too bad that we are going to lose the one on the Wii, at least the daily accomplishments are still there, but is not the same

I feel sorry for whatever employee has to make new questions for Everybody votes and update all these channels every week.

They sill have new things going on in the Everybody Votes channel? Wow, they supported that for more than six years. I remember when that went live. Maybe I'll check it out and vote a couple more times before it ends.

Bullshit. This is why the console digital future can kiss my ass. How will I know what the weather is outside now? It's why so many people bought a Wii in the first place!

I love Everybody Votes, that dilemma when you're not sure which choice to pick. Now it's ending I feel bad for neglecting it lately.

Hey, I was using those! Well, three of them, anyway. The ds demo channel, the Reuters (news) channel and the weather channel will be missed here.

I don't care too much about some of those things, but Everybody Votes is awesome. I vote there all the time and it's gonna be sad to see it go. I hope they do a Wii U version with more options in the future.

I didn't use them much... But this feels so wrong... They shaped me... where would I be without them!>!>?? WHYYY

Should we like, share metroid prime 3 vouchers now? Do you put your friend code down? Is this happening?

Why are they deactivating WiiConnect24? That's a bit annoying. Don't care about the rest. Why is the horoscope channel not going to be deactivated?

Well, Everybody Votes can be integrated into MiiVerse, and.I guess they're killing off services because they want people to buy Wii Us.

Wii U needs updated Everybody Votes Channel and Photo Channel. Compared to the 3DS and Wii, the Wii U feels really lacking in just the app side of things.

Not being able to view photos and videos on Wii U is such a backwards step.

Yeah. A photo/video app would be excellent and really fit the "family usage in the front room". You could pop an SD card in and then browse through the photos privately on the GamePad, swiping the ones you want everyone to view up on to the TV. And then draw mustaches on them.

I could care less about every channel except the Nintendo channel. Why get rid of that? Is it that much extra effort to offer it to Wii users that haven't switched?

Well there's not going to be a lot to showcase on there really, is there? Everything is U and 3DS now, which the eShops on those devices cover.

Yep, I came back from my honeymoon and had my family round, and realised I couldn't view my photos and videos on Wii. Can the Wii U even access the SD outside the Wii Mode? I hope so, it's very convenient.

Great way to keep sending a message to Wii owners that they need to upgrade no?

I guess on the bright side I can delete a bunch of channels to make room for more Club Nintendo games.

I think the only potentially harmful outcome of this would be being unable to unlock all of the friend voucher rewards in Metroid Prime 3 / Trilogy.

The last time I used my Wii for anything outside of playing a game was to watch that episode of Nintendo Week when Allison left. I'm a fuckin' dork of the highest order. Bow down before me.

EDIT:
How else am I supposed to get friend vouchers for MP trilogy? Fuck!
PM me if you need em'.

Wonder how long till they pull the plug on games with WIFI conection... I mean, they can't keep running the servers forever, right? I guess it'll be a game per game basis. Mario Kart Wii still has one of the healthiest online communities for Wii compared to Smash or Strikers where you barely see people playing online.

Not the Nintendo channel!

I'm going to miss the activity log.

They had some really cool apps on the Wii. Definitely appreciated the stuff Nintendo tried out.

Everybody Votes was another one that I went to pretty much once a month or so.

Wish they would bring some of these apps to the WiiU.

So, does this mean we can delete all these off the console permanently since they won't be of use anymore?

Everybody Votes Channel!! Nooooo don't take my only means of Democracy, Wii is now no more than a third world dectatorship console.

Somebody should go through the Nintendo Channel and tabulate all of the user data (how many times played/average number of times played per person) for every game before it closes.

I'm fine as long as they keep Wii Shop and Virtual Console Games on. I fear for the day they'll decide to put it down

Due to the fact that the Wii's shop channel can still used on the WiiU and is currently the only way to get Wii VC and Wiiware games, it will be up for the forseeable future.

I'm assuming things like Everybody Votes and Mii Contest will have their own equivalents on the WiiU. I mean, there was nothing really wrong with them. It's a good time waster and brings back some great memories of when I first used my Wii. They grow up so fast...

Wish Wii U had everybody votes.. serious... Their AP newsfeed/weather were pretty cool too, but less relevant today.

I liked how if you used the globe for the News Channel you could specifically see which regions stories were from. geographically. I haven't been able to find an app or a program like that for phone or PC.

Everybody Votes and Mii Contest channels were hysterical at times, especially the latter. They should be updated and integrated into the Wii U.

I don't care what anyone says, Weather Channel was amazing. I'd spin the shit outta that globe with that music everyday before school when it first came out
