Wii U™ owners have a ton of great games to look forward to from Nintendo and its third-party partners, including Game & Wario™ on June 23, Pikmin™ 3 on Aug. 4, Disney's Planes from Disney Interactive on Aug. 6 and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell® Blacklist™ from Ubisoft® on Aug. 20. At the upcoming E3 trade show in June in Los Angeles, Nintendo expects to show attendees upcoming Wii U games from the Mario Kart™, Super Mario Bros.™ and Super Smash Bros.™ franchises.

Wow Nintendo. They mention a total of 4 games coming out between now and September.

My estimates for March of last year was 789,444. If even somewhat accurate, it would put this months sales ~537,000. If true, that leaves ~277,000 for DS+PS3+Wii+WiiU+Vita(+PSP). I find that hard to believe so my number must be off (I'll consult jvm).

Are you mixing revenue and units?

According to NPD analyst Liam Callahan, "March 2013 saw deep declines of 32% in dollar spending for dedicated video game hardware, with stronger declines for portable hardware than for consoles. However, sales for the Nintendo 3DS grew 9% over last March. In March 2013, the Xbox 360 had the highest hardware unit sales for the 20th month in a row.”

3DS hardware: ~203k (estimated as 189k last month)

Well, better than last month at least.

Still shitty numbers

Pie and Beans

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Slightly low for 360, Pachter may have been highballing WiiU after all! (in which case holy fuck)

Uh, games do that all the time? When did Bioshock Infinite come out?

And to kill your point completely:

Lego Star Wars: Clone Wars III -> Released March 22, 2011.

March NPD?

1. Mortal Kombat 2011 (PS3, 360)** Warner Bros. Interactive
2. Portal 2 (360, PS3, PC) Electronic Arts
3. Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (Wii, NDS, 360, 3DS, PS3, PC) LucasArts
4. Call of Duty: Black Ops (360, PS3, NDS, Wii, PC)** Activision Blizzard
5. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters (360, PS3, Wii)** Electronic Arts

You don't even have to go back that far... Lego Batman 2 charted higher more recently.

Very good sales for Luigi. Combined with the strong legs it has shown in Japan, I imagine that Nintendo is extremely happy with this performance. I think we can definitely expect more Luigi games in the future.

Infinite came out on the 26th. The real argument here is that those 2 games are a lot smaller than many of the other releases in March.

But is it really an argument when
1. Almost every other game is multiplatform or from a large established franchise in the west
2. On consoles with orders of magnitude more users

I'm saying even if the Wii U sold "well" at cracked 100k, I wouldn't expect them to be in the Top 10

Great for Infinite and Luigi. Surprised how well Luigi is doing!

Also, lol @ Nintendo's press release regarding Wii U. Man, the next games from them are Game & Wario on June 23, then Pikmin August 4?! That's horrible management. What is there even to translate in G&W? Purposely delaying so that the rear end of the year is more packed?
The system was clearly not ready for prime time. Even more shocking given the dearth of Wii releases for the past two years while Nintendo lavished love and attention upon the 3DS. The Wii U release calendar for the first 9 months of this year is nothing short of catastrophically awful.

I wonder what ever happened to W101. I thought it was near completion or at least it felt that way when I played it last year. Surprised they didn't mention it in their presser.

Isn't that 9% over March 2012 and not February 2013?

It says grow from last March, not from February.

So...it did grow indeed! Then, why no hardware numbe-Wii U must have been horrendous.

That wasn't what you said. You pointed specifically to the release date which means fuck all given how much time it had to chart.

I like how the Nintendo PR basically says 'Please look forward to E3' as a + for Wii U owners. lol.

Please be excited.

EDIT: FUCK!

3DS was UP YoY? Why on earth wouldn't Nintendo mention that?

Why the hell would Nintendo highlight Disney Planes instead of Resident Evil Revelations?

This is EXACTLY why they are failing, they don't understand the market at all.

Grew 9% over last March. Last march was 225k.

3DS Hardware March 2013: 245k.

nods at old men
Did people really expect Lego to chart when it came out on the 18th?! Or Monster Hunter which was released on the 19th?! Really?

lol
I can't believe that after years and years of NPD people still don't realize how front loaded game sales are.

It does not matter.

Their WiiU SW situation has been disastrous. Some of these games were long promised.

If their big holiday games are that Luigi DLC and W101 then I smell trouble. They will likely show a new Zelda at E3 but that's not enough to gather enthusiasm for the future of SW on WiiU.

They did state they were showing Mario Bros, Smash Bros, and Kart Bros at E3. So one of those will be their holiday title.

Uhm last March:
225k

So this March:
245.25k

Nintendo just don't want to talk hardware sales; leave the Wii U out it looks bad; talk 'Family' it looks pathetic.

Haha, and it released on June 19 too.

The point just looks completely insane now on his part lol

1. Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes (360, Wii, PS3, NDS, 3DS, PSV, PC)
2. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (360, PS3, PC)
3. Diablo III (PC)**

At least some growth, could be a lot better though.

edit: I see it's actually better than this. Could be even better though!

Why the fuck wouldn't Nintendo mention that?

"If you reveal 3DS numbers, people will start asking about Wii U numbers, so just fuck it."
