Beyond: Two Souls PS4 port possibly in the cards

Honestly I'll wait for it if they confirm a PS4 version down the line. For some reason I have a feeling we'll be hearing a Quantic Dream buyout by Sony sometime in the future. These two are just too close for it not to happen.

Meanwhile, de Fondaumière added further ambiguity to the ongoing speculation that Beyond, due out in October, will be ported to PS4.

Following mixed messages, we asked the Quantic Dream executive whether the game would be released for Sony's next-gen console.

"That's not been decided yet
," he replied.

Also talks about development on their PS4 title beginning almost a year ago:

Pre-production on Quantic Dream's mystery - but confirmed - PlayStation 4 game began in the middle of 2012.

Vice president Guillaume de Fondaumière told Eurogamer in an interview today at the Digital Dragons event in Poland that the developer, which made PlayStation 3 exclusives Heavy Rain and the upcoming Beyond, was one of the first studios in the world to receive a PlayStation 4 development kit from Sony.

"We received PS4 development kits - at the beginning it's specs then it becomes early kits - very early on," he said. "We were among the first studios in the world to receive those kits."

I'm okay with this not being true. The PS3's swan song will be amazing when all is said and done. What a turn around from "$599 US Dollars!". But I'm all for a superior version existing,

I'm going to skip it otherwise.
You will have my $60 if you release a PS4 version in a timely fashion.

Allowing this speculation to go on is a bad idea. Some people are already considering skipping the PS3 version for a supposed PS4 version, which will hurt sales.

If this game is as good as it looks, then I might double dip, even,
Or offer a download code for the PS4 version in every PS3 box. Do want!

I might pick this up if they release a PS4 version, otherwise I think I'll either skip it or pick it up when it's cheap. I'm in next-gen mode now and Last of Us is pretty much the only PS3 game I'm looking forward to before the PS4 comes out.

Yeah, it wasn't a good idea. All this does is make me wait for the PS4 version. It'd be quite unfortunate too if the PS4 version won't appear if the PS3 version under performs, because people are holding off.

Let's be honest here, Last of Us, Beyond, and GT6 are probably all going to be multi-generational with some sort of you only pay once incentive. Been calling this for awhile.

Last of Us doesn't look like it's going to be cross gen at all. Hell it's coming out in June.

That is what I'm hoping for as well. Hopefully we'll know before the game is out.

I think Naughty Dog has outright said that Last of Us won't be coming to PS4. I don't remember too clearly since I've been on a media blackout.

The plot thickens...not sure what to do now. B2S is coming out in early October, and PS4 is likely a month or so later. So at the very earliest it could come a month later to the PS4, so that's too long for me to wait. I've been excited for this one more than The Last of Us, so I'll be getting it the day it comes out.

I could see myself double-dip though if they give me a good enough reason.

If there's a PS4 version announced by the time I get around to this game, I'm waiting for that. Same for any cross gen game

While I'm hyped for this game and I really want to play it I think I can wait to get it for a cheap price since it's just a Single-Player game so I don't need to worry about dead servers or low community by getting it late. Might go later on for the PS4 if it happens.

I'm quite excited about this game, so there's no way I'm not getting it on the PS3 when it comes out. If a PS4 version exists, I'll only play it if they offer it for free to those who bought the PS3 version like was stated previously in this thread. So, yeah, even if there is a confirmed PS4 version, I'm not going to wait to play it when it looks just fine on the PS3.

It would be nice if we found out if this is coming to the PS4 before the ps3 version launches. I'll just wait for the superior version if I can.

It's pretty telling that they aren't outright denying the possibility of a port. I think the only question now is will it be available at launch or some time after.

PS3 games remain PS3 games.
Sony cuts PS3 prices.

delayed PS4 ports is a bad message as most core gamers get the major releases on day 1.

PS3 exclusives are not supposed to be developped alongside uprezzed PC ports. So fuck PS4 ports unless they release the same day.

Yeah I don't get this 'maybe we will, maybe we won't'. It's going to cause people like myself to wait, and if it doesn't end up coming to the PS4,we'll more than likely forget it. Same with other games that are rumored cross gen.

Hmmm. Perhaps there will be a whole series of these...

The Last Guardian
The Last of Us
Beyond
GT6

All confirmed for PS3 and 'enhanced versions' on PS4.

Thoughts?

I don't see The Last Guardian being cross-gen by this stage. PS4 version or bust. And I think The Last of Us won't be available anywhere else but the PS3. The other two though... sure.

I wouldn't be massively surprised to see a GOTY editionof The Last of Us released a while later for PS4. The Last Guardian just shouldn't bother with PS3 at this pont though

Same here. And the nature of this game is such that spoiler will leak quickly and those assholes will try to spoil things on YouTube and other social media. The sooner I can play it the better it'd be. Then I can replay it again when PS4 version comes out.

- The Last Guardian: probably already a PS4 title and won´t be released for PS3
- TLoU: only PS3
- Beyond + GT6: don´t know, but would guess only PS3. Quantic Dream isn´t such a big studio that they could manage to develop their new PS4 IP and port Beyond. And David Cage is a perfectionist and wouldn´t be happy about a simple port.

GT6 would cannibalize Driveclub. Anyhow, I don´t think it would be a very smart decision from Sony releasing GT6 only for PS3. Of course they will sell more copies of the game, but the initial hardware sales for the first 12 months after PS4 release are much more important for the whole next console cycle, than a few copies of one game...

I thought it would be weird to see one of these new PS3 games enhanced on PS4, but if they did a series of them, it might be a good way to give early adopters some really high quality end-of-generation games to expand the list of launch titles.

After all, next-gen is hard. They're gonna really struggle to have good content ready for launch.

They are probably still in discussion with Sony. I hope we get an answer at E3.

If there is lots of space between the releases, this ould be a game I'd buy both versions of. Wouldn't do that for AC IV, Watchdogs or the other announced games that may be out on both consoles.

I'm betting they'll allow the PS3 version to sell through as much as possible, getting the initial front loaded sales out of the way and the rest of the sales for months after, possibly 6+ months, and will announce a PS4 version at E3 2014.

They don't want people to wait. But I think this game will make it to Ps4, perhaps a Directors cut version or something. And Last of Us too, perhaps.

GT6 is odd. PD was being caught shooting footage for a next-gen GT. But PD is supposed to be working on GT6 for over 2 years already. Perhaps it will be either a Ps3 swan song, or a cross platform release. Or 2 different projects.

why can't they release both together? I want the PS4 version :(
