Dusk Golem's List of Every Horror Game Ever (Details, Opinions, Videos, On-Going)

This is very true. I'm going to get more regular games down and consider how to handle things like mods/fan games, especially as I'm trying to play through all of them.

The funny thing about you suggesting that is I am a horror YouTube page, and actually am really up-to-date on horror game releases, and my fans help me keep up to date on them too. XD; I also work as an editor for the website Rely on Horror, and have several contacts with people in the industry who send us news and PR stuff and the like to make articles, which also helps, along with being in communication with the team, which can find horror stuff I hadn't heard of previously. I also every once in a while go to check new horror games that have/were announced and see how development/progress is doing. I have a list I keep of horror games, which I need to play, which are coming out soon and when, and try to keep up to date with news.

Definitely will be trying out the stand-alone version of Cry of Fear!
Yeah I saw some of your stuff after I wrote that :p Great channel.
I have a channel myself trying to get going and I started incorporating a lot of horror games lately. I really wanted to do Among the Sleep but it's like $100 to get the alpha now :/

Clock tower 3 was interesting and def shocking when it first came out. You might still enjoy a playthrough.

Ok I'll def still give it a whirl, I've actually never played one of the Clock Tower games - closest thing would probably be Haunting Ground.

Edit: I'm actually considering starting Amnesia for the first time tonight, although I don't have a wired 360 controller & would have to play with mouse and keyboard, is a controller the preferred way of playing that game?

Edit 2: ok so I did start Amnesia and holy shit, I'm not far into it (just mixed the four chemicals) but its intense. Had to take a break.

Yeah, seeing the heroine turning into a magical girl and scissorman reduced to a comic figure was indeed hella shocking.

I'm sure he was talking about a masked murdered bludgeoning a twelve year old girl to death with a hammer.

Or a young man blinding two elderly people with acid and then dissolving their bodies in vats.

Both were (tenuously) based off of real life occurrences but back when they released it was semi-shocking.

I agree that turning the Scissorman villain into two clown twin siblings was a misstep though.

It was still better than The Struggle Within

Speaking of Clock Tower, is REMOTHERED still coming out? I really like the artwork for it:

Nothing can be worse than this, regardless:

Hey everyone, this is Dusk Golem aka AestheticGamer. I have posted on NeoGAF since 2011, and have decided to resign. I have enjoyed posting about horror games here for years, but I no longer wish to support the site and will be leaving for good. I will still be around the internet, I go by AestheticGamer on YouTube, I make games on Steam as Yai Gameworks, and I plan to go by Dusk Golem on other forums. I'll be joining an off-set of the GAF community leaving to try other ventures like ResetEra (Official Twitter for that here: https://twitter.com/reseteraforum ). I hope some of you who read this may consider it, and I plan to try to expose more people to horror games in the years to come. Just not here.

I hope you all are having a good day, and know I always loved the community, and in the end it's the community I'm going to stick with, not the site itself. If you want to follow me, my official Twitter is here: https://twitter.com/AestheticGamer1

Oh shit, I just remembered there was a Clock Tower film coming.....but I guess it never actually came out.

The first teaser posters for the upcoming movie adaptation Clock Tower have been released for your viewing pleasure.

Directed by Martin Weisz (The Hills Have Eyes II), Clock Tower stars Brittany Snow (Prom Night), Alyssa Jayne Hale and Louise Lombard. The movie is loosely based off the Survival Horror videogame series conceived by Human Entertainment, the most recent being 2003’s Clock Tower 3 on PlayStation 2

IMBD's synopsis reads: "A woman is tormented by an evil that has haunted her family for generations, but the only man who believes her is the psychiatrist she meets in a mental institution. Together they must find the source of her family's damnation and then fight for their lives, until the curse is finally laid to rest."

Yeah, while I'm sure this would of turned out to be cheesy, I admittedly would be interested in a film based on Clock Tower and the imagery for the teaser posters looked interesting. Another example of a game-to-movie thing that never went through, though.

I do wonder if Capcom ever plan to one day continue the Clock Tower series, since it is now their property as well as Haunting Ground. The only thing they've done with the series since Haunting Grounds came out was have a Haunting Ground cameo in one of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom's endings.

I find it weird they would bother with the teaser posters without beginning to actually do anything :/ Brittany Snow was cast to play someone as "Alyssa" so I guess it was either an adaptation of The Struggle Within or an adaptation of 3, which was the more recent game at the time.

Hell Capcom hasn't even released Haunting Ground on the PSN yet. The rating for that was leaked ages ago.

As for the editing it makes sense that its probably the mobile theme. It has issues handling text heavy posts sometimes.

That was actually one of the first live-streams I did. A bit D< at how the audio mixing turned out, but the actual game of Saya no Uta is wonderfully disturbing and interesting.

Yeah I noticed a few times where the music made it difficult to understand what you were saying, but I'm still really enjoying it none the less.

Just finished up Part 4, and found it strangely disturbing, yet touching at the same time. Starting Part 5 right now, very interested to see how this ending turns out - also what's curious is the fact that there still seems to be another five parts remaining.

Oh Amnesia~ The face of the indie horror scene. Amnesia was an intriguing game to follow before and post-release. They're really modest guys and though they had hopes, they thought Amnesia wouldn't do to well as their previous games (the Penumbra series) were sort of sleeper cult hits. Amnesia definitely took off though. They're wonderful guys who were interesting to contact with for Rely on Horror business, I can tell you that. Very passionate about horror.

Yeah I have actually followed the development of the game for awhile, just never had a computer sufficient enough to run the game up until recently

(still not sure my current computer is adequet as im seeing alot of what I think is screen tearing? - maybe some people with advanced computer knowledge could shed some light on whether its up to par or suggest recommended settings- I have a Lenovo Z580 laptop with 8 GB of RAM, an Intel Core i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz running Windows 8)

From what I have played so far I am really enjoying it, although my heart is constantly racing the whole time!

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
No updates on the OP yet?

So I'm starting a playthrough of Dino Crisis on my Vita, does anyone have any fond memories of that game? Any tips for someone starting their first playthrough?

I need to get a really awesome exploration based PC horror game.

Something like a more sandbox Condemned would be awesome.

Bioshock Infinite lacked the horror elements Bioshock 1 brought in. The first game was a very dark and bleak atmosphere.

And I keep hoping that one day, Rule of Rose will be brought onto the PSN. I know that is as likely as a Xenosaga IV. :-(

Rule of Rose is an "okay" horror game. The fact that it's characters consist of children does make it interesting. But the recent interest in the game is odd, I bought a copy used from GameStop like 4 years ago, beat it, then traded in back in for prob less than $10. Really wish I held onto it for collectors purposes only.

Seems the updates to the OP have come to a hault.

I actually literally just beat Rule of Rose last night. Gameplay-wise I have some mixed thoughts on it, but it has a pretty original story for a horror game, and actually really well thought out with deep symbolism and a lot you can read into. Has some great CG cutscenes and scenes, nice orchestrated soundtrack, and an interesting story, but the gameplay is only so-so. Some nice extra side stuff to do, including one of the most ridiculous side-quests I've ever heard of. I should also note it has some wonderful alternate costumes.

I remember being underwhelmed by the ending. Then I read up on it. Yikes.

Awesome write ups!! Gonna have to check out some of those.

You should try the Chzo Mythos (PC, PnC, 4 games, freeware). Very cool horror series.

Has anyone already alerted OP that the description for Silent Hill 3 is actually the description for Slender? Might wanna fix it.

Amazing and subbed. Cant wait to try some of these.

So is Alone in the Dark 5 worth a playthrough. It's literally worth $5 right now. I remember playing a demo and it looked decent, though it was I think 4 years ago when I played that demo.

Nice thread
been watching your lets play on youtube at night :D

I've also been doing this, but there is just so many different things to choose from to watch, I get lost in my choices. Also I see you post on your YouTube page when you are going to be live streaming / do all your live streams eventually land on YouTube? (Like will your Deadly Premonition DC & Rule of Rose ones make it onto YouTube?) also could you post a link to your live streaming site? Also is it watchable on mobile devices?

I came here to post the only Co-Op Horror game I know of, and it is very under-estimated. The fact that your colleague holds your torch while you have the gun, so co-operation is necessary in the dark. Bare with the control scheme, take the time to map it if playing on PC.

The name is Obscure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cqk56u4IuVk

On my way to google you guys an example of this game, I found this article which has a great list for games to add.

I love this thread, thanks OP :D oh, and please don't forget 'White Day', it made my blood boil http://unnamedgs0.blogspot.ie/p/whiteday.html

We don't need to geographically discriminate games, just one list is a great idea ;)
