#IwataSays We will discuss new Smash Bros.3D Mario game, Mario Kart etc @ E3

Could be Nintendo's best system ever for first party games.

Sales-wise, it's going to get better but it's not going to drastically change.
At this point I think it'll sell about half as many units as the Wii, so in the 50 mil range, which would still put it above N64, GC, and SNES.

Btw exclusive Mega Man would be so goddamn sick. Just take the X formula and put it in 3D.

I just care that the console gets a full lifespan because the potential is awesome.

I guess it's selfish that I don't care too much how much profit Nintendo makes with it.

I just want my games, I already like the system better than the Wii and there aren't any huge games out for it.

Iwata did say that there were more unannounced titles coming to Wii U by the end of the year. However, it looks like those games are basically going to be the recently announced Sonic Lost World and Mario & Sonic Olympics. Both franchises have track record of coming during the holiday season.

I was thinking about this the other day. Nintendo should embrace the old school and revitalize it.

I am really curious to see the visuals of the new Mario. I'd REALLY love to see Nintendo go a completely different route and do something crazy. Make the entire game pixel art or totally abstract. I'd just like to see Nintendo be extremely creative.

I'd be surprised if we see a huge departure from the Galaxies. It'll probably look similar to those, but with tons more detail. Not that that's a bad thing; it's going to look glorious no matter what they do.

I've complained about the reused assets for SMG2 once or twice, but I'd be 100% okay if we got a SMG3. The cosmic art style of the galaxy games is far too awesome to not get a chance to utilize the power of the Wii-U.

Which one? X? HarmoKnight? The Wonderful 101?

I want Nintendo to talk about X

But it might not have a big presence at E3 because Nintendo is focusing on the western market for E3, and X might not be considered one of their "western" games given by how they treated Xenoblade.

What's considered a Western game?

If Square Enix are going to show off their weird tech-demo FF wet dream, no reason why X couldn't have prominence too.

I don't know, especially when considering Nintendo. I don't deem any of their games western or eastern.

Which is why I found it weird during their financial earning Q&A that he said Nintendo would focusi on titles for the western market during E3. There must be games that Nintendo's considers are for the west and games that are for the east.

Probably just means focus on what games to localize. Just wording it would seem.

Cute.

Even though it's not going to happen anytime soon, Mario in these visuals would be amazing.

Why would you complain about them reusing assets from SMG1 to SMG2? SMG2 was only made because they had a lot of unused idea's they wanted to do.

NINTENDO DIRECT SEQUENCE OF EVENTS

1) Open with Super Mario WiiU, much like how they opened with Skyward Sword one E3
2) On the topic of Mario, transition to Mario Kart WiiU
3) Still on a Mario-related note, transition to Yarn Yoshi for WiiU
4) On the topic of Yoshi, transition to Yoshi's Island for 3DS
5) Continuing the 3DS, transition to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2
6) Still on the topic of Zelda, proceed to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
7) Proceed to another fall WiiU title, namely The Wonderful 101
8) Still on the topic of Platinum Games, transition to Bayonetta 2
9) On the note of third-party collaboration, go to SMT x Fire Emblem (unlikely, but still)
10) On the note of epic RPGs, transition to Monolith Soft's X (and 3DS title, why not)
11) Touch on story-driven games for NA: Bravely Default, Layton vs. AA, MonHun 4
12) Highlight major RPGs Pokémon X and Pokémon Y (first simultaneous global launch)
13) Focus on expanded audience: Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, Wii Sports U
14) Return to "core" and drop the Treasure 3DS project Bob-omb
15) Then drop the Retro Studios WiiU project Bob-omb
16) Reggie: "One more thing" -- SUPER SMASH BROS. 4

remove the 3ds games and maybe smt x fire emblem, and this is a pretty safe bet. they're all games we know are coming, and should be pretty far along in development.

the crazy stuff would be like, OH AND WE GOT PERSONA 5, MEGAMI TENSEI 3, METAL GEAR REMAKE, AND MEGA MAN LEGENDS FOR WII U IN THE NEXT YEAR.

What if MML3 being canceled for 3DS was because it was being moved to Wii U, and that Capcom employee blaming the fans was a publicity stunt to drum up notoriety for the next Mega Man game?

I know why they did what they did, I just didn't like that they did it. By reusing the assets, SMG2 seemed more like an expansion pack, while lacking SMG1's initial shock value.

I see what your saying. If the Wii had the ram as the Wii U it probably would of been DLC ala New Super Luigi U.

It's kind of funny: We expected so much last year and got absolutely nothing. Now, we know we are going to get almost everything we expected then in addition to all the new stuff that has been talked about this year. And knowing that, we may still get one or two surprises. People thinking Nintendo skipped out on a huge conference because they don't have anything to show are crazy.

I think that the E3 direct will be starting with Mario Kart U. Mario 3D could be in the middle and then closing with Smash. Then Reggie appears and drops one more bomb: Retro studios game. The internet collapses after that.

I hope this means we will get to see some serious first and second party muscle at this years E3 Nintendo needs to make a serious case for the wiiU.

I would pay $60 for smash melee HD port/remake, sorta like the wind waker remake

do it Nintendo
just add online and all the characters from Brawl and i'm on board.

hell i would take Brawl X with all the cut characters and stages

if Nintendo could have a smash for the holidays with mario kart and mario wii u, it'd be huge.

i better see a trailer and gameplay, no pics or i'll be :/

They're going to announce the date and time of this direct in advance right? I mean more than a day or two before hand right!?

I had a dream that it was E3 and they showed next gen Mario but it looked like 3D land but with AA and sewn together textures on everything like Kirby Epic Yarn. Looked nice but underwhelming.

Then I saw a SSX style snowboarding which looked INSANE. You went down off huuuge jumps down this icy volcano (idk) and you went inside and the ice was melting and you could bounce off the walls of ice and flip to the other side and upside down and every which way - it then eventually turned into just water cascading down and you could ride that too with huge loops and jumps and gravity defying shit. All with insane next-next-gen graphics with colours and effects and things everywhere. Seriousely. You shulda been there

Nothing in that list would wake up people that arent Nintendo fans. Nintendo needs a new Wii Sports, but I doubt its possible.

June - Luigi, Game & Wario
July - ?
August - Pikmin 3
September - Wonderful 101

I don't know where Nintendo would cram in all those other games.

They're almost certainly going to be launching multiple games per month in the latter half of this year.

In Japan they already have seven games in the six months between July and December ("2013") titles, and that's without Mario or Mario Kart (and possibly Mario & Sonic @ Winter Olympics, depending on the release time-frame).

i just realized. this will be the first time since 2007 i'll be able to watch their conference. i was at e3 from 2009-2012 when they were actually doing their conferences (which was actually okay as going out on the show floor was always a pleasant surprise.... aside from 2012), and in 2008 i was taking summer courses in college.

I suppose. I just don't want to get my hopes up.

That's fair enough, and admittedly Japan is a little special as Nintendo here is publishing Rayman Legends and Lego City, which isn't true for the West. I can see a scenario where either Mario or Mario Kart slip into 2014.

Still, the Wii U line-up is looking better.

Potential latter 2013:
New Super Luigi U
Pikmin 3
The Wonderful 101
Wii Fit U
Wii Party U
Scribblenauts DC
Rayman Legends
Mario Kart
Mario Platformer
Batman Origins
Assassin's Creed 4
COD Ghosts
Watch_Dogs
Lego Marvel
Wind Waker HD
Sonic: Lost World
Mario & Sonic at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games

2014/Future:
Monolith Soft's 'X'
Yarn Yoshi
Bayonetta 2
Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem
Project CARS
Retro's game
Exclusive Sonic X2
Super Smash Bros. 4

Plus, there might be a Pokemon 6th Gen Battle Simulator and Wii Sports 3 and they may bring over Yakuza 1+2 HD to the West.
