So the significance of this is that it is a mark in the road towards a US launch. This is right about in time for a launch later this year in the US, based on historical comparisons at least. The PS3 controller first appeared at the FCC in May 2006, ahead of its holiday 2006 launch in the US.
No sign of the PS4 box yet - of course, Sony will be with-holding that until after E3, but I would guess it might appear shortly thereafter in FCC's database.
