Yeah, thanks for the advice, I might do that.

With facebook, it's just a plain like button, right? There's no concept of hashtags or a mechanism to direct attention to - say - Playstation, or whatever? Just want to make sure I do that one correctly.

Facebook like buttons like either html pages or specific facebook app pages. For this, just like the actual HTML page so all links in feeds go directly to your page.

It might be a good idea to fix the facebook meta tags if you want to have a nice description and image with the posts. Facebook have a meta tag validator here:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug it is a good tool to use.

I just wanted to quickly say that I tweeted Yoshida and several others late last night after I came across the thread. I linked this thread on the SlickDeals gaming forum; I know, I know...not a big platform but it is pretty much the only other gaming-related forum I can read on my network at work and I can at least log in to that one (can't log in to GAF there).

I don't like twitter and only have used my account a handful of times for givaways and promos on CAG, but I am happy to help. I hope this really turns into something.

If they figure out that the goodwill of no-DRM will propel their brand and get them more money... "I'm okay with this".

Sure sure, we can take advantage of this to gain as gamers but we have to remember they are a corporation. PS4 fanboyism is getting way too far thanks to MS disaster. :D

This is the right way to do this. I'm really proud of GAF, and to be a part of this. So many times people who claim to be a part of our community voice their opinions with anger and disrespect. By doing this, we are showing that not only are we serious about it, but we're willing to be the better people, when our rights as consumers are on the line. Blind rage solves nothing, peaceful, educated protest makes Sony look really bad if they don't address this properly.

I made something quick with an online photo editor (lol) for everyone who wants to share it :

That's all I got, but I mean we should make some kind of universal avatar for this, we did kazification, let's use gaf's skills for something important!

So GAF i've made a twitter account to help you\us on this, bear in mind this is my first social account ever.

But it's really too important not to help.

Hope it will work.
GO GAF!!!!

Shahid seems like a cool cat, I'm a little concerned he's being too vocal though, don't want the Sony higher ups kiboshing him. Keep straight and fly right my good man.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

You're right, and I'm guilty of this myself. But all the good will and free PR can go the exact opposite route as soon as they do something even remotely wrong. Internet has this way of making everything hyperbolic, be it good or bad.

But yeah, it's good to remember that they are not our super awesome gaming friends.

I hope Sony will listen! They have to! Or else next gen is going to be at least troublesome for me and i guess for most of all the gamers.

Sony should just take this to the next level and create a webpage with a blurred teaser image or a message behind a wall and every 1000 tweet would make a brick disappear or enhance the image until it reveals:

NO USED GAMES DRM.

Why are they deleting posts about it? Does it break some sort of rule over there? Isn't this kind of campaign something a lot of posters over there might want to get behind?

It definitely is, but redditors work in mysterious ways. I've done a few posts about the subject, including various links, and everyone gets deleted.

This one, which is a bit creative because there's a big image attached to it, still stands:
http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1f4qde/twitter_protest_against_drm/

So everyone with a reddit account - everyone - should just press that little up arrow.

UPDATE: It's on the front page of /r/gaming now. KEEP PRESSING THAT LITTLE ARROW!

Is it worth tweeting the big retailers too?

They may not have any direct power but they can influence things, it can only be a good thing that they're aware of the backlash.

I would just say spread the word any way you can. We need it to be noticed by the gaming media and from that spot on it'll gain a lot more track. This happened with the Adam Orth fiasco.

It's worth it - but they will not write about it or mention it themselves. It's probably better to tweet to all journalists - gaming or not. Just tweet directly to them and noone else in your feed will see, send how many you want, like:

@journalistperson Have you seen what we're doing at GAF: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=568033 #ps4nodrm

Let's start with the european gaming media, Eurogamer for example.

This is why I hate Reddit. There are always people who downvote it. It's mind-boggling.

Well I'll still take part, GAF actually got Naughty Dog to put in an option in U3 controls to make the game much more replayable, it was actually pretty amazing how fast they got someone from GAF to come down and then implement it, so this place does have more power than some give it credit for.
