WiiU hardware sales goes down when a game finally comes out for it (i know it is a multiplatform game, but still) :\ I hope that the 1st party offerings will work a lot better for the hardware sales.

Shin Megami Tensei series: (Best openers)

[PS2] Persona 4 (Atlus Co.) {2008.07.10} - 211.967 / 294.214
[PSX] Persona (Atlus Co.) {1996.09.20} - 201.147 / 391.556
[3DS] Shin Megami Tensei IV # <RPG> (Atlus) {2013.05.23} (¥6.980) - 184.811 / NEW
[PSX] Persona 2: Innocent Sin (Atlus Co.) {1999.06.24} - 170.577 / 274.798
[SAT] Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers (Atlus Co.) {1997.11.13} - 160.850 / 258.678

Rabbids Land, though NSLU is probably the better release for a hardware impact.

Code:
06/06	Rabbids Land
06/19	New Super Luigi U
06/27	F1 Race Stars: Powered Up Edition
	Injustice: Kamigami no Gekitotsu
07/13	New Super Luigi U
	Pikmin 3
07/18	Sniper Elite V2
07/25	LEGO City Undercover
08/08	Ryu ga Gotoku 1&2 HD for Wii U
08/24	The Wonderful 101

Download versions of NSLU will do nothing. Pikmin 3 & NSLU @ retail will help more, but...July :S

Wants the largest console games publisher to avoid Nintendo's platforms.
I don't think that applies. One is a moribund platform on its last legs, the other is an up and coming next-gen box.
You don't think install bases matter? Ok, carry on then.

Was P3 a slow burner or something? Surprised to not see it when it arguably re-invigorated the series massively.

The Vita only had two weeks selling lower than 5,648. It'll be interesting to see if the Wii-U can beat that.

Eh, it hardly matters what Wii U sales are for the next couple months, as there STILL are no games, so what were we expecting? An inexplicable uptrend? I think most people saw these new lows coming back in February even. In Japan the only notable release since than has been MH3U (EDIT: Scratch that, forgot it was a launch title in Japan. So basically a whole lot of nothing...). August NPD/Mediacreate and on from there are where it gets interesting.

What did Persona 4 Golden do? I could have sworn it was up there. Unless you're not counting re-releases.

And what's the next big Wii U release? Pikmin 3 in July?

Things are gonna get reeeeeaaaal ugly.

Sales rarely make me all that happy, but for some reason this does. It's nice to know that even with Persona blowing up, mainline SMT still has a place. There is room for both.

MH was a launch title here.

Excellent SMT IV, Tomodachi Collection edging closer to a million (will be over including digital) but that Wii U. Damn.

That is true. Not sure what Iwata was thinking with his prediction for the year and what Nintendo were thinking with such a Barren lineup since January.

A complete clusterfuck!!!

I could be wrong, and if so someone please correct, but typically attach rates on newer systems tend to be higher and attach rates tend to decrease as system installed bases increase beyond a certain point.

So the relative sales of the PS3 and Wii U are more interesting really; the former has a higher attach rate for the title.

No, P3 sold less than SMT3. But they kept building on the brand because it had traction and lots of merchandising potential. P3 -> P3:Fes -> P4. It was only when P4 itself was released that the series fully exploded.

Persona 5 will destroy lives, but Atlus needs to hurry up.

They're going to be announcing it pretty soon I think. I bet you're excited.

It most definitely matters. That there are 'good' reasons for the low-ass sales doesn't change the fact that it matters.

surprised valhalla knights did so well, with the other games all being shit. Is it because of the smut?

Anyone have numbers for previous ones?

Attach rates are clearly higher on newer platforms. Which is why the WiiU SKU edged out on the 360 SKU at a 9:16 disparity of install bases. My point was that it could have been just as well the other way around - 360 SKU edging out on WiiU SKU, and that would've been normal at the given install bases disparity.

Not trying to rag on the Vita, but exactly how much did that price cut accomplish in the long run? Okay, so the new base line is slightly above 10,000 week to week and it is averaging 4,000 to 7,000 more sales each week. Was it really worth a $50 or so price drop just for that? I'm by no means an expert at this, but that price drop didn't seem to change all that much for the long haul. Vita sales are still in the tank (and that's Japan, elsewhere Vita sales are so far through the floor it ain't funny), heavy hitting software still isn't coming out in a steady stream (something we can say the Wii U will have once Nintendo gets their crap together), and now they are making less per unit sold with a marginal sales baseline increase. So is it just me, or was the price drop just kind of a drop in the ocean?

In which prediction are you referring to?

Have there been predictions for each territory alone?

I am familiar with the 9 million WiiU goal only..

I assume there's no magical red line that the Wii U has to drop below before Nintendo triggers a price drop. At this point I figure they've set up a strategy and are just going to roll with the shitty sales until later this year.
