MS marketing director: "We are going to kill Sony at E3!"

I'm actually believing that these guys have several exclusive juggernauts now, i mean they have tonnes of money to throw around and entice publishers, sony does not.

They might actually have secured a franchise that was previously multiplatform... who knows. I just know that MS has been puffing their chest out and Sonys been sitting quietly.

The thing about them having "tonnes" of money is that the investors/board won't let them spend that much money. We gotta keep in mind that XBox is only a part of MS, they can't dump that much money into it. Hence they spent just, yea just lol, $1Billion dollars into games... they could have spent more, tbh they could buy up a lot of 3rd party studios but their investors would never approve of that.

What makes you think MS' line up will be better? At the moment we can only base our opinion on their output over the last gen. Do you honestly think MS' output of games over the past gen has been better than Sony's?

Well yeah.

Crackdown > Infamous
Halo > Killzone
Gears > Uncharted
Viva Pinata > LBP
Banjo < Ratchet
PGR > Motorstorm
Forza sucks. GT sucks.
Alan Wake > Heavy Rain

I mean, I can keep going, but that's just in my opinion. Does that mean the Sony games sucked? No, not really (Heavy Rain and Killzone 2 did) but this myth that Microsoft has no first party games is laughable.

I like the new Microsoft attitude and confidence hehe. Maybe they will completely bomb this generation but they don't give a shit what forums like this think. They have a plan and their sticking to it. I think they are going to hit a home run with this console but maybe I'm wrong too :). Can't wait to see the games at E3!

Not concerned about DRM because I pay for my games and don't share them, not concerned about always on because most everything I have now is always on (IPhone, Ipad, Kindle, laptop, etc.), and my only worry is Kinect because I didn't like the original beyond voice commands for Netflix or HBO GO watching. Willing to give Kinect 2.0 a shot.

People expecting all of those 15 internal IPs to be AAA are delusional. They must include digital and small releases as well. Also, they won't be showing all of them at this E3...

I am expecting no less from MS at E3 that they are not going to drop a regular bomb, but a NUCLEAR BOMB.

My predict:
Dead Rising 3 (exclusive)
Morror edge 2 (co publish, so exclusive on Xbox One)
FIFA 14 (3 months exclusive on xbox One)
COD Ghost (3 months exclusive on xbox One)
New Gears
Halo 5
Rare games (banjo kazooie and PD and Killing Instinct)
Just Cause 3
PGR 5
lots of other.

Personally I don't see the Xbox being a big success.

It won't affect my purchase of course, same way the WiiU bombing didn't stop me buying one.

The games don't matter if the policies don't change (or if they get cleared up and still suck). Saying "I hate what they're doing, but they've got a cool Halo game coming out so who cares I'm going to go buy that" is the problem.

This is the part where we vote with our wallets.

If Microsoft are truly throwing around 1 BILLION dollars towards exclusives then I think it's possible.

Problem is money won't help without the talent and even talent is nothing without direction. It just isn't that easy to build good new studios from the ground or bring back the former genius to a company like Rare.

I am sure we will see some impressive looking concepts at E3 - if and how fast they'll turn into good games we'll see.

Best bet for Microsoft short term would probably be enormous money hats to buy exclusives. Maybe some companies, but again Rare shows it isn't that easy.

Not interested in any of those (as a Sonybot). Mirror's Edge - only slightly; not a system seller for me.

They have said that nearly every e3 the past few years and they have disappointed. As for the exclusives im being realistic, how many of those will be kinect shit and small arcade style titles? we dont know, just as people saying we dont know this and that about the machines drm etc and yet counter with the 15 exclusives yet dont follow their own advice.

MS just like every publisher doubled down on thier most successful ip in the last few years. Now is the time when they'll start focusing on the core again as they have a expensive console to sell.

Ill take an avatar bet that there will be no full game exclusives on fifa or cod, willing to take the bet?.

Can someone explain why there's such unbridled hatred for a console we don't really know much about yet? Is it just that they want to do some different things with TV connectivity and everyone's paranoid that Microsoft is gonna be watching you play games naked?

seems kind of ridiculous.
Living under a rock much?

If it results in NO DRM and ability to play used games/rentals, please break the curse.

Do you mean that in the "the Xbox One is successful, but ends up crashing the industry, thus resulting in a DRM-free rebirth years later" sense? :P

Or did I get the "third console curse" thing wrong? Haven't all the third consoles of every company been a failure? Like SEGA's Saturn, Nintendo's N64, and Sony's PS3?

Well that is your opinion man. I personally would have thought most would prefer Sony's first party games.

Have you played crackdown recently btw? It has aged pretty badly

Thats not stopping those being kinect games and arcade game though, you really think that those 15 games will be core new ips?.

It will be in tNorth America, imo. Its chances of beating Sony in Europe are slim. Asia has already spoken. The emerging markets have been Sony lands for ages.

Forum myths die hard. For example, people think Sony games don't sell. But in 6 out of 8 of those comparisons you made, the Sony game sold better.

MS has a lot of great franchises. They're not as great as Nintendo's or as varied and numerous as Sony's, but it's not a bad effort for being only two generations in the industry.

Looks like some people can't interpret fulls sentences properly
"Google translated from an IGN Spain opinion article:"

How much do you want to be it was a mis-translation

Thats not stopping those being kinect games and arcade game though, you really think that those 15 games will be core new ips?.

They'll be a combination of every type of game. The Kinect games will still be there but so will games for the core. Games like RYSe will support both methods of control.

You underestimate how rich Microsoft is

Ms arnt scared to kill a division though, if they see the division as a complete money sink and no signs of it turning around they will cut their losses. Thats a total extreme example but people who think that ms as a massive corp would continue to pump money into xbox division willy nilly is wrong. Again this is an extreme case and not one i think would happen but its a business at the end of the day and they need to make the sums add up. They couldve killed sonys gaming division this gen if they wanted to pump stupid amounts of money into it.

Do people see these third party exclusives as a good thing?

What if Fifa was exclusive to Xbox. Would you guys support MS for doing that?

could be confidence, could be arrogance, could be distraction tactics.

Thats what im saying, this is a core gaming forum and people keep bringing this 15 number up there is no chance those will be 15 ips aimed at us. They will be kinect fitness stuff, kids stuff things not aimed at us in that number.

Some will be timed exclusives and/or on PC as well.

The Xbone doesn't even offer a component connection without even going into requiring an internet connection. They are really just going after the US market first.

The sentence "Vamos a matar a Sony en el E3" would never be used in Spanish in this context. The sentence was clearly translated from the original English one, which makes sense taking into account it was Craig Davidson who pronounced it.

I am expecting no less from MS at E3 that they are not going to drop a regular bomb, but a NUCLEAR BOMB.

My predict:
Dead Rising 3 (exclusive)
Just as well. Capcom put no real effort in anything other than Xbox releases of that franchise.
Morror edge 2 (co publish, so exclusive on Xbox One)
Assuming said game even exists, a bombshell it is not (no more than the first game was).
FIFA 14 (3 months exclusive on xbox One)
COD Ghost (3 months exclusive on xbox One)
Yes, that's what EA and Activision will do: put two of their biggest respective multiplatform titles on only one system with a limited install base for a quarter of the year...surely.
New Gears
Probably. Wouldn't have especially high expectations for sales performance after Judgment, though.
It's possible.
Rare games (banjo kazooie and PD and Killing Instinct)
And no one will care because modern Rare are worthless (or said games will be more Kinect crap following the studio's shift to focusing on Kinect titles).
Just Cause 3
Depends upon Square Enix's priorities following the change in leadership/ongoing organizational overhaul.
Didn't they discontinue this series in favor of prioritizing Forza?

All in all, I'm not seeing anything especially "nuclear" here.

The 15 is only first party. There will be 3rd party exclusives in show and not to mention partnerships with 2nd party's. There will be loads aimed at the core gamer dude.

If there are restrictions on used games, we can pretty safely assume Sony will be doing the same thing, regardless of what that is. MS isn't taking that trip alone. As far as connecting to the internet every 24 hours, how many people don't already do that? It's a pretty minor issue for the backlash it's prompted.

I'm not sure abount the current connection rates but back in 2010...

...27% of 360 owners had never connected online vs 23% of PS3 owners.

I'm sure more connect now... but I'd hazard a guess that 15% of current consumers have never put their hardware online (that's not to say they don't have broadband..they just don't bother connecting their consoles).

Microsoft starting to get so arrogant and angry already. Infinite power of clouds is turning in to a storm.

If they really invested 1 billion $ for exclusives and are able to pull cheapest next gen console launch price (with a mandatory live subscription, which no one realizes when buying) they might pull it off though.

Competition is good, will buy everything worth buying for a gamer nevertheless.
