MS marketing director: "We are going to kill Sony at E3!"

You should write a fanfiction about it.

I hope they don't plan to kill Sony with this:

-Fallout 4
-Dead Rising 3
-Mirror's Edge 2
-Titan

Because it wouldn't even cause a slight reaction from me. Although I can admit that Fallout 4 is probably a huge deal. But for me, I don't care. It completely depends on the 1st party titles for me.

But they do. That's what this is all about. A game like Fallout 4 being exclusive to one platform is a huge deal.

If it was all about sales then people would be bowing down to MS for getting Call of Duty and Fifa coverage exclusively at their reveal event.

You might be able to 'kill' financially, appealing to the masses and throwing money all over the place, but it's pretty damn impossible to kill Sony on a critical and quality level, which is what many gamers are after.

you wonder why MS is so hell bent on killing Sony when Nintendo won the current gen with Wii/DS sales

Did they win in profit and sustainable income? Seems to me like their Wii train came screeching to a halt and the 3DS took a huge price-cut in order for it to start flourishing.

They're not willing to lose billions, but they're willing to speculate billions. They have money to throw at projects and they're not afraid to do so. Sony isn't in such an enviable position unfortunately although their focus for the coming gen seems focused.

arguably Sony is in *more* of a position to spend on PS4 as it is more critical to their overall business success than Xbox is to MS.

Nobody is killing anyone. I'm just saying MS has the upper hand with big third party exclusives. :P

Real Talk, Sony surpassed Microsoft this generation after being cheaper throughout the entire generation and releasing the system first, having a 8 t 10 million console sale lead upon release of the ps3 in 2006.

so on that note Microsoft have to say something to make them look good at this point because right now SONY is showing everyone why they have been successful since 1994.

1luv and god bless video coming soon on this.

Mirror's Edge 2 being exclusive means as much as Bayonetta 2 exclusive ... looks good on paper but won't have a huge retail impact. Fallout 4 would be big assuming somehow it is not coming to PC.

They know nobody bought Mirror's Edge, right?
(Incidentally, I love how we've already narrowed their exclusive games list to ME2, Fallout 4 and Dead Rising 3.)

And if their idea of exclusives is some undisclosed FIFA Ultimate Team mode and more timed-exclusive COD map packs which the X360 gets too... well, a reality check will be forthcoming soon.

best E3 ever?

For the lolz of course... games are not the main subject anymore. Specs and technical discussions maybe but games? No, not hardcore enough -_-

I think realistically speaking the only major scoop would be Fallout 4, but there's no weight to that speculation - if anything it'll be exclusive DLC.

I think Respawn's game could be a huge deal if it's the CoD killer that I assume it'll be.

We will have to see though. So far it looks like E3 is a battle between SCEWWS vs Moneyhatted 3rd parties.

It'll be a bloodbath.

Do you consider Gears a third party exclusive? Doesn't MS own the IP rights?

I don't consider Gears to be that important personally. I think 4 Gears games was enough.

As someone who into Marketing I feel there are better words to describe what he was trying to say.

I don't know, it just feel a bit childish between "going to kill sony" and the other Thread where they say "you are still going to pick us"

With Titan, Id say they have an franchise that could easily sell a great deal of systems. That IP will have the marketing of a game that sells 9 to 10m.

Launch games are never expected to perform like a big mid-generation release, thanks to not having much of a userbase. So, ME1 not selling exceptionally doesn't matter. Launches are for interesting games and new stuff, not the boring and safe guaranteed sellers.

As for 'arrogance', I don't see it. I guess I think there's a difference between healthy confidence in one's product given that the work that takes thousands of people, years of planning and work, and billions to happen. If some of y'all had your way, we would only ever hear meek people barely audible in their hope for success, like some overly-humble Japanese developer. I want confidence because, while it does happen when there's no reason to be so, it also happens when killer things are in the making and on the horizon.

I fully believe that MS will deliver a super-strong slate of games at E3, one that gives Sony's show a run for their money.

One thing MSFT is doing is talking a lot out of their ass. They're killing Sony in that department.

Same here. I'd even forgo Fallout if it's not released on PC. Hell all of those games would be better on PC. MS needs to sell me a console, not remind me I need the new Nvidia card.

Also drop DRM and Kinect bullshit. GTA 5 is the only thing that would be big enough to elicit a reaction from me, then I'd switch my pre-order to PS3 out of spite.

All I'm really thinking or have to say is, talk is cheap. Back it up in a 11 days.

There were a lot of japanese companies that didn't venture off into the HD era. Would love to see NIS, (relevant) Atlas, etc on the XBO.

Even if money hatted, it'll be nice to see it on the machine.

E3 will be great no doubt but my decision of not buying Xbone first was made during the unveil and I doubt they can change that even with a plethora of brilliant titles.

Naw, I'd just wait 5 years, pick one up for $99 with a bunch of games shortly after next xbone is released. No need to not play the games, just have some serious patience.

But I doubt the games are going to be all that. MS sounds like they are mandating kinect and smartglass integration into core feature of all the release games (according to crazy buttocks), which means game designers are being dictated to by suits which never ends well.

And if I were a Sony fan, I'd be worried. MS has shown that it will spend big money just to keep games off of playstation devices, even from developers that hate Microsoft as the Minecraft and Fez moneyhats have shown. It is entirely possible that will start doing that with big 3rd party pubs this generation. For example, depending on what the agreement is with EA regarding FIFA, xbone could make huge inroads in Europe with that alone. I know FIFA will be on PS4, but if it is a gimped version...

So yeah, MS might kill Sony's gaming division this generation if they sink a few billion into the xbone and moneyhat big big things, but the chances of ms making great legendary games, very very low.

Oh man I am so hyped for this E3. This is the most hyped I've been for E3 since the current gen was being announced.

I cant help but think of Sony's silence every time that MS come out with quotes such as these.

One company is bigging up expectation - and needs to deliver a lot

Another seems to be quietly going on about their business.

If there was a lesson to be learnt in not setting yourself up for a fall, MS should enrol, pronto.

No. But some people are convinced that FF is irrelevant, so it's not such a big deal, lol.

Wow your posts in MS threads are funny, so much delusion. FF isn't huge and certainly not the biggest exclusive any of the big 3 could get if they wanted.

Not sure where the Fallout 4 rumours are coming from, don't think they'll be true, if they are that'd be huge.
