Nintendo E3 Site Opens: E3 Direct one hour long. Teases some games.

I highly doubt this.

The whole console was developed because of some ideas that some Nintendo developers had with this whole dual screen thing.

Source saying Galaxy 3 is unlikely from Kouzumi because there are no leftover concepts left.

EAD 1 has said Super Mario 3D Land is the crossroads in the 3D Mario series. This is where they will take some point from.

Mutiplayer and real time switching has been on the cards for ages since N64.

It's been 3 years since the release of Galaxy 2, 3D Land was probably a much easier job , and 2 years since end of Super Mario 3D Land release when 3D mario Wii U comes out. Plenty of time. First parties get early devkits early.

Retro have had 2.5-3 years to develop a game, Nintendo need top bring out te real guns to create a real reason why people should buy a real Wii U.

Plus the rumor, albeit a rumor, taht the last surprise (fireworkds) of E3 2012 was supposed to be Retro's game that was actually pulled last minute.

Your post gives me hope and I really do hope you are right.

I booked days off work to see both the Sony and Nintendo E3 shows.

This, if we don't have at least a name and a small teaser trailer, it's best to assume that Retro as a company is now DoA and we won't likely see anything from them aside from credits where they helped on a couple games for the next 2-3 years.

Or, more reasonably, it would mean that Retro's game is a 2014 title.

If they are indeed working on a large title that rivals other western AAA productions it's not unlikely that they still need some time. Retro is rather modest in size after all.

Holy Crap! Amended:

Assuming 60 minutes:

- 7 min for Mario Kart U
- 15 min for 3rd party (Sonic LW, Ubisoft, WB, Activision)
- 4 min Smash announcement
- 15 min for NSLU, W101, Pikmin 3, Bayo 2, Wii Party, etc.
- 7 min for new 3D Mario
- 3 min for Retro announcement
- 9 min for other random things (welcome, os updates, etc.)

Severe lack of X there.

Please show X, that is what will get me to buy a Wii U, the new Zelda too, but don't think the Wii U one will even get mentioned, it will be the 3DS game.

It seems like a lot of you are purposefully trying to deflate your hype in order to brace for disappointment, but I find that allowing yourself to be hyped and ultimately being impressed is more effective than having low expectations and being impressed.

Wow this thread already exploded when I was gone. I'm scared of future nintendo threads.

Anyway, I think X is 85% positive for E3 because of twitter.

I got a very strong feeling that the next Mario game will be Mario Galaxy 3.

Why?

IMO Because considering the time constraints and pressure to deliver AAA titles as soon as possible, the Mario team probably used the Galaxy engine / assets to create a updated version in a shorter span of time than it would take to come up with a new engine / game theme.

I wouldn't mind Galaxy 3 but I really do hope it is a new mushroom kingdom style game like Mario 64 but just on a larger scale. They could even have space segments within that (where you fly out from the kingdom) and retain mechanics from the Galaxy games.

I also doubt we will see Retro's game. I would love if we did, but I just have a sinking feeling it wont be there.

they could potentially use the same engine and a lot of the same assets to create a game not based on Galaxy as well. it could really be anywhere. i just can't believe they'd do a Mario Galaxy 3, but a spin-off Luigi Galaxy could be possible.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
Are people seriously expecting the silhouetted pics to be the only ones in Direct? The fact that it has Mario and Luigi should say something lol

It's adorable how you guys get so amped for something that's just going to disappoint you.

when have Nintendo's biggest franchises ever disappointed its core fans?

....besides Other M.

The hardware certainly can be disappointing.

The software rarely is.

Microsoft is far more primed to continue to disappoint than anyone. Their past 3 E3 conferences have been train wrecks and their console reveal was a disaster. I don't think they know how to do this stuff.

Nintendo MUST show some 2014 line-up (Yoshi Yarn, Bayonetta 2, Smash bros., X, etc etc etc).
This is NOT the time to show only the games that will be launched this year. Wii U needs hype!

C'mon, how many ppl choosed PS3 over X360 because the exclusivity of FFXIII, Versus XIII and The Last Guardian? (I did =/)

Eh, Luigi galaxy is done in the originals.

Come on Nintendo, Waluigi needs the spotlight.

Silhouettes of all the key players, including Wind Waker... But no ZeldaU?? WTF Nintendo!!!

You're expecting Zelda U... Good luck with that lo. At most you'll get one piece of artwork/development themes talk.

That's what Wind Waker/LTTP2 are for.

Aonuma pretty clearly said that they're doing Wind Waker HD to tide over Zelda fans since Zelda will be a while. Those games require a ton of unique assets and complicated programming on their own - that game isn't coming for a while.

If it's at E3, that'll be awesome, but don't expect it. Next year seems way more likely.

It all starts with the Nintendo Direct presentation on June 11. Coverage will continue throughout E3 with game trailers, interviews, and more.

So theres a chance theyll squeeze game announcements in the direct and then show trailers later?

People who are guessing the e3 direct breakdown would have to consider this.

Yep, remember Wonderful 101 was announced on Gametrailers/Spike TV

Smash Bros Brawl trailer then online (unlikely this time ofc) at Round table

Killer Freaks (Roundtable)

Kirby Return Dreamland (logo after end of E3 2011) with Kirby Mass attack

Pimin 3 (roundtable)

At first I was concerned about the time but then I thought about it:

-The January Direct was only 30 minutes and yet they squeezed a ton of games in there.
-Because it's not an E3 conference they're not going to be doing on-stage demos.
-Since Directs are pre-recorder, they're as time efficient as they could possibly be.

I'm sure there will be plenty of new games there. But as long as I get:

-Bayonetta 2 reveal
-Retro's game (FUCK YES)
-Smash Bros trailer announcing a few new chars
-New X trailer, showing updated graphics (color please)

Then I'll be more than good. These things are really all I want, everything else is icing on the cake.

not really, you play luigi and it's still pretty much the same game. same situation happened with 3d land. just very slight changes in the physics. if you remove mario from being the lead character in the game, you can experiment more and do different stuff because you don't have the whole conflicting consumer expectations thing they found out about in Sunshine.

Exactly. For a Nintendo Direct, an hour is a long time.

Hmm yo're right there. But I think the mutiplayer aspect in Mario 3D Wii U will tackle this. If multiplayer comes to fruition.

Someone break down the time allocation for the following:

1) Open with Super Mario WiiU, much like how they opened with Skyward Sword one E3
2) On the topic of Mario, transition to Mario Kart WiiU
3) Still on a Mario-related note, transition to Yarn Yoshi for WiiU
4) On the topic of Yoshi, transition to Yoshi's Island for 3DS
5) Continuing the 3DS, transition to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past 2
6) Still on the topic of Zelda, proceed to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
7) Proceed to another fall WiiU title, namely The Wonderful 101
8) Still on the topic of Platinum Games, transition to Bayonetta 2
9) On the note of third-party collaboration, go to SMT x Fire Emblem (unlikely, but still)
10) On the note of epic RPGs, transition to Monolith Soft's X (and 3DS title, why not)
11) Touch on story-driven games for NA: Bravely Default, Layton vs. AA, MonHun 4
12) Highlight major RPGs Pokémon X and Pokémon Y (first simultaneous global launch)
13) Focus on expanded audience: Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, Wii Sports U
14) Return to "core" and drop the Treasure 3DS project Bob-omb
15) Then drop the Retro Studios WiiU project Bob-omb
16) Reggie: "One more thing" -- SUPER SMASH BROS. 4
I would love to have this :)
