PES 2014 (PS3/360/PC/PSP) first screens and details - You will say wow

Konami are using their brain, releasing the next PES on the next gen consoles is pointless, the install base will be absolutely insignificant compared to current gen consoles. They are losing nothing by waiting until next year to bring the games over, when there will actually be a decent amount of people to buy their game. I can't help but laugh at the people claiming Konami will somehow lose ground to EA this year by not releasing PES this year on next gen consoles, newsflash, hardly anybody's going to be there.

The first FIFA and PES of each new gen always suck, so this year Konami are actually making sure they leave a good last impression with PES 2014 on the current gen consoles before properly focusing on making a first next gen PES which doesn't suck whilst EA is just being, EA, and not giving a hoot.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
In terms of Konami soccer games:

Winning Eleven 3DSoccer - 101,088
World Soccer Winning Eleven 2013 - 12,730
Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 - 10,525

For Japan, from Garaph.

I remember both PES 2012 and 2013 at 40k, from last Media Create numbers. PES 2012 as a result of over one year sales, PES 2013 as sales of just two months. Still, I'll search on Geimin for the Media Create top 1000, in order to be perfectly sure.

EDIT: Here it is

PES 2012 (launched on December 8th, 2011) - 3,714 / 46,182
PES 2013 (launched on November 1st, 2012) - 11,365 / 43,484

LTD up to end of 2012 for both.

I don't see the wow but we'll never see smokes and other stadium animations in a FIFA sponsored game. So that's something at least.

Refreshingly honest.

Winning Eleven 2013 PSP sold 3x compared to 3DS version, so i don't understand why people are blaming Konami for its choice...

Garaph may not be up to date, I just went to the software groups section.

Adam replied to me again. Seems Konami aren't expecting anyone to buy next gen consoles...

@Paul_LFC this year? Tell me, how many people do you think will buy a nextgen console this year alone? Think about availability too.
---

I don't get that. This gen has gone on far too long, provided the price is right, next gen will sell.

@konami pes community manager*: Don't tell us what we should and shouldn't expect. Jesus. Have some fucking humility. Make a good game, and the crowd will follow.

They may well be right but that's not the important thing, Konami is not on any growth platform and will not establish itself. When people start establishing FIFA online communities on other platforms do they think there's much incentive to look back at PES?

I swear I read somewhere that Konami will be releasing PES every two years from now on. Or did I read wrong?

The only WOW here is disbelieve at the extent Konami has failed at delivering once again.

Without next gen versions, PES will lose even more market share, and I am sick of listening to conceited marketing talk from them.

Hiring this Adam from WENB is one of the worst mistakes Konami has made, as this only fuels the self-complacency that has overtaken the brand. It's like Konami is in a race to the bottom by itself.

Hate to say it, but it is a sad day as a PES fan since the beginning.

Noone bought the 3ds version?

I played online matches with people every time I got online with it. Maybe I imagined it, or I was one of the 5 that bought it...

I don't know. I loved PES6 on my 360 and it seemed like a straight forward previous gen port. (albeit it was a year after the 360 launch, it still was a port)

i don't know either, was just speculating of course. Maybe they just want to avoid that "port" feeling at all costs on the new machines, don't see any other reason atm.

I wonder why Konami don't want to "aim higher" themselves and release a next-gen-only version? Or a Vita version instead of PSP one?

Simple... they want to cash in on the larger user bases. If they improve the gameplay and balance it right, I'd prefer that over jumping to next gen for merely prettier visuals (as lovely as that may be).

The installed userbase worldwide for both next gen consoles will be so low over the 12 month launch window that releasing such a title for profit reasons will be highly irrational. It's a business first... as much as I would like a day one brilliant looking next gen PES, I would rather wait till they honed the gameplay before moving forward visually.

I know Adam, he's a good guy. But maybe needs to just take a wee break as everyone is tearing into him (such is twitters nay the internets mentality, at times).

I'm not sure sanity or being good at your job is a requirement to work at Konami.

Perhaps quite the opposite these days.

To be honest, no one is probably reading these tweets at PES production in Japan.
What a clusterfuck things have became of the PES brand.

Yeah, the game looks worse but I´m totally fine with it. 2013 was great gameplay wise and i´m expecting good things to follow.

I thnk that they are honest: they are limiting the development only on the less risky platforms for their established franchise.
Personally, I'd love a Playmaker version for Wii U, but...
I'll probably skip also this iteration, as for Fifa, considering how many football games I've purchased in the last few years, waiting for some substantial new elements.

Why Santos anyway?

Why not Bayern and uh, I don't know, Dortmund?

Considering Neymar already left them, the cover, and game is already out of date and it's only June

:lol ... PES

They try so hard but as long as FIFA got the licenses they will always fall behind.

When PES was king no one gave a shit about that, let's be real, licenses don't mean much when you're looking for the best footy game. What matters is which is the better game.

Could be excuses, or could be that they think not to have enough people to make all the versions they would like to do keeping the quality they intend to attain.

That maybe true, but this is FOX engine we are talking about here, a new engine that is supposedly made to develop multiplatform games with a significantly shortened development time.

Konami should have dedicated a team 2 years for a Next Gen version of PES2014, it is something big after all, but what's done is done, the question remains if PES will be able to regain the crown from FIFA or not.
