Halo 4 |OT| Spartans Never Die

Descope isn't going to be in Halo 4 =\
[/URL]

Thats fine just remove flinch.

Or they could make you flinch when shot if you are in scope but out of scope you dont flinch, that would effectively serve close to something like descope.

Where basically you are trying to ruin the precision of a precision shooter whos been spotted and being shot at.

It will have to do til H5.

wat. So you like having you're reticle thrown in a random direction when you get shot? I'd much rather the fight just be decided by whose aim is better.

Camo snipers with the extra ammo perk really, really love you for this.

At the very least it should be put in throwdown. They could also make it global and leave flinch on the sniper only. There's a few ways they could do this. I see your point though.

Uh, it's been always been like that.

But what exactly is better about flinch than descoping? I can't think of any reason why it's better. De-scoping worked for every other Halo game...
They tried to wiggle themselves of the corner regarding death markers. But they failed and restored those back into the game seven months later and after an enormous amount of complaints. You may see people joke about something, but it is outrageous they made decisions like that and with descoping/flinch to accommodate their new design choices. There's still glaring issues in the game, but they won't change them and later they'll probably add things back in they previously took out, just to punch in some more bullet points for Halo 5.

343 - Change for the sake of change.

Actually, it's just one of the many poor design choices they had to make in response to the low aiming skill gap. I know it sounds like I'm beating a dead horse here, but the amount of crappy things they've had to do to accomodate the low skill gap is ridiculous.

Bad Strafe/High Aim Assists lead to...

Flinch: the descoping mechanics no longer worked because it was too easy to land shots, leading to a frustrating back and forth battle of rapid scoping in and descoping.

Lower weapon damage: with easy aiming, too many players could kill too quickly, so they needed to decrease weapon damage to bring the average kill time up. This in turns makes power weapons nearly insurmountable because of the wide disparity in kill times.

Bloom/Spread: in order to decrease the effectiveness of certain weapons at range, they added in randomized elements in the form of bloom and/or spread.

Armor Abilities: since there was now little variation in firefights (when everyone can land most of their shots, battles become very boring), they felt the need to add "wrinkles" to combat to keep it fresh. Rather than allowing the interplay of skill and strategy to be the variety, they needed to add armor abilities to change up the flow of combat.

Sprint: with the slower player speed and slower kill times, they now needed to recreate a sense of speed in the game. Enter sprint.

While those last two may seem like a stretch, I honestly believe that the lower shooting skill gap supported, if not engendered, their inclusion in Halo. If you fix the shooting skill gap, all of those "fixes" are no longer needed. Descoping is viable again because it's not a constant stream of back and forth when players miss, you can increase weapon damage while still maintaining a reasonable average kill time, you don't need to limit a weapons effectiveness through randomization because it's much more difficult to use at range, combat is more varied because individual player's abilities create the variety, power weapons are no longer the auto-kill-no-thought weapons they are now, the game exponentially increases in speed due to faster potential kill times....

I could go on.

Yup. You can blame any of the smaller assorted bullshit mechanics or bad maps for why Halo 4 is known for quick playsession burnouts in a way Reach never caused, but its these two right here that hamstring the game. The shooting itself is boring as fuck, even when you're steamrolling.

No I don't. I want descope because it had some skill in it and not a random thrashing of your reticle, not to mention with stability as a THING it meant DMR's and snipers would have DOMINATED.

There needs to be a penalty for getting shot in scope and descope was perfect.

Agreed on wanting descoping back but it's already been established that descope will not be coming back in Halo 4. Here's hoping that they hear all the complaints and bring it back for H5. Not sure what you mean about stability being a "thing". As far as I know, DMR's and snipers DO dominate (well not so much DMR any more with the update). With or without stability.

The main issue I see with possibly removing flinch is that it would make the sniper even more OP and easy to use than it already is. If they could adjust it on a weapon by weapon basis that would be nice but I have no idea if that is possible with the TU. None of this is likely to happen anyway.

I'll likely get one. Depending on price. The policies are fine if your not a 10 year old who has his mam buy the games.

Support Dev's buy new

I wasn't argueing about it coming back in Halo 4 I know thats impossible. I just read your post as you wanting to have flinch removed entirely from Halo 4 and put nothing in its placed, but it seems you realize what a terrible idea that would be.

And stability as a thing is referring to Stability (and other perks) only being made to address a problem/restriction 343 built into the multiplayer on purpose.

Hate flinch, put on stability.
Can't pick up nades, here's grenadier.
Running out of ammo, here's the ammo perk.
PV is ruining your fun, use stealth.
etc etc etc

All this under the guise of "it allows you to customize your playstyle"

with menu options instead of changing up your actual playstyle...

Where's Stinkles? I have a question. I wanna know who or what was in that spaceship that crashed on Installation 04 in the HCEA terminals. Humans or what?

Thats what happens when you build anti-consumer stuff into your console. PC/PS4 and my main and WiiU/One for Exclusives is how I am going.....though wont get the One until a price drop.

I don't know if I'll ever get an Xbone with how it's shaking out. If Sony follows suit I won't get a PS4 either, but currently it looks like Microsoft is just bowing out of the competition entirely.

I'm gonna laugh so fucking hard if Sony has a similar system in place. I just can't really believe MS is going into this alone. Sony will probably leave it up to the pubs, and it'll be just like the X1, lol.

Probably will be.

Meltdowns will be hilarious.

What I don't get, is that GAF has a lot of "master race" PC gamers, and you can't trade shit on there either, what's the difference?

Consoles have a history of being able to do so?

But like I said, with how big digital distribution is gonna be, theres not gonna be much borrowing happening either way.

Prices are lower.

Also, I haven't really been following it, but I think Steam is working on some trading system right now with trading cards or something? I see it mentioned in the Steam thread quite a bit, but I don't know the details.

I can't speak for them, but personally my standards across the platforms are different for a couple of reasons; namely that games on PC end up being really cheap and plentiful. Also being on PC, installs were just par for the course and CD keys were in place since the mid '90s, the turn to DD only brought on way more convenience and benefit than it took away, and being the kind of platform it is opens itself up to more open updating and compatibility with older titles. Basically I can take my Steam account to any computer and have all my games at my fingertips, that's pretty sweet.

On the flip what I want out of consoles is plug and play, I want to pop things in and have them physical and quick, because that's the strong point of consoles and what makes them convenient despite some of the downsides you already incur over just playing on a PC. The more you make them like PCs, the more I'd rather just play on a PC, because they simply can't compete on the same terms.

You can already trade games (unredeemed ones), if you didn't know that. Though if they're working on one for redeemed games and you're referring to that then that would be news to me.

Trading system isn't that as far as I know. Each game can have like 10 cards you can randomly "find" while playing. However, only 6 or so are able to be found by any one person. Once you collect a set by trading cards with other people, you can then craft them into badges which can be used to earn coupons or DLC codes, etc. I'm not sure if you can trade them for games, though...

I wonder if the prices will be lower on the digital side for next gen, Microsoft's last Xbox sale was pretty dope... but they're usually bad.

Is there any easy non-MM way to get all the new gametypes with the weapon tweaks? Like a fileshare or something?

Gamertag HaloWaypoint I think

It's on 343's fileshare supposedly.

Also, this XBONE stuff is disappointing. A decade from now you won't be able to play any XBONE Halo titles, but you'll still be able to play Halo 1. In both it's forms.
