Thats actually pretty good news, why havent they said that on press conference?

And what about other, non Sony F2P games? Will it be universal?

It would make a lot more sense just due to how much numbers would be behind the subscriptions now. If anything potentially more content, than before. Lots more money behind it thats why.

it's in the OP. it's optional, publishers/developers choose what they want to do.
This will also depend on the judgement by the publishers, and there will be some free to play titles that you’ll be able to play without needing a PS Plus subscription,

Are you serious? How would I enter the code to validate PS Plus? Through the store? :p

There is no 'enter code' option unless your country has a Store afaik.

This is what no PS Store means for me, since 2007

- no demos
- no HOME
- no discounts
- no PSN exclusive games
- no DLC for games
- no DLC which I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR AND CAME WITH DISC GAMES <<-- no way to redeem, how bad is this!
- no PS Plus
- no online with games that require online pass
- and now... no online games at all

That sounds pretty fair considering its almost a free brand new launch game just for buying their online service.

And my guess is they will have a discounted upgrade to the full game for like $19.99-$29.99 anyway if you really like the game.

Can somebody please ask him on Twitter if we have to pay Online fees for MMOs like FF14 and Elder Scrolls Online if we have PS+? I highly doubt that though but it would be amazing! Online fees are the only reason that keep me away from FF14 :/

The online fees for each of those games will likely be at least twice what PS+ costs, so no.

These games wouldn't require a PS+ subscription though.


Sounds like the PS+ requirement has even more granularity than just on a game/app level though. As stated by Yoshida in the OP, they can go down to specific play modes of a game where there is direct contact with players.

If the service is going to be the same as it is now, as in free games, discounts etc, then I'll be happy to pay. I've paid for XBOX Live gold for all these years and what do I get for that? Laggy multiplayer and fucking adverts.

So Async will be free but the one thing that people actually care about (the multiplayer in real-time, stupid) isn't?

Well, I'm still pissed. I'm still going to Steam for my shooter fix. Fuck paying $60 for a title and then $50 yearly on top of that. Not worth it for me.

I'm not going to use any of these new services and features so why should I have to bear the financial burden for the users that will? Let me play multiplayer for free like everywhere else and charge for all these new services and Share buttons and junk.

And stop saying you're giving "free" games and stuff. It's not free if you have to pay even a penny for it. PS+ costs money. You're not giving away anything free you jerk.

Well hopefully DriveClub PS+ edition will be able to play online against people with DriveClub regular edition on the tracks that are on both. Hopefully both games are exactly the same when it comes to who is available to race online.

It could be the most played racing game if it works that way since everyone who owns a PS4 can download and play it.

I'm glad they clarified this because this is how it logically should be. F2P pays for its own servers. On PC people are allowed to rent their own servers, which is why PC multi-player gaming is "free." Now if Sony allows PS4 users to rent their own servers they should also allow people to play, on those servers, for free.

Hopefully the money actually goes to server support for PSN...I mean I know it will but they really need to step that shit up. Show proof that there servers are actually decent this time around

So far Sony has been handling this really well, its is becoming less of a paywall with each announcement and i hope they make it clear to everyone.

what country? We have PSN in Croatia, so I am surprised almost everyone doesnt have it :)

We dont have official Xbox anything on the other hand.

Yoshida probably just wanted to promote his own titles and doesnt want to decide for other publishers how they distribute their games. AKA it's up to the developer/publisher.

This is starting to get a little confusing.

How would it work with Demon's Souls, for instance? It has both asynchronous multiplayer and real-time PvP and co-op. Would the asynchronous still work? Would you need to play for invasions and co-op to occur?
