What the hell is happening in those first two pictures ?

They boast unique tree stump patterns but apart from that I'm not sure there's much utility to them seeing how every unique stump is interchangeable in terms of their mushroom impact (or so is my understanding).

Don't stumps reduce your village quality?

Also pines are good for shaking stuff without fruit.

Hello, I am new to this so bare with me!

It is normal to get bored at first? I am on my third day, my house was ready this morning (yay!). I have a net and a shovel but I did not see any fishing rod yet (making me upset!). Isabelle says I need to raise the aproval of my citizens which currently sits at 22%. She tells me that I can clean the place, add more green, fish out garbage (I wish I could).

Do I miss something? All I have been doing for 2 days now is walk the beach for shells and stuff and catch the same insects again and again, donating some, selling some. This is pretty boring at the moment, I wish I could at least fish. How do I plant greens? Nobody sells any seeds. How do I fish? Nobody sells a rod. Do I put the game down and wait until tomorrow hoping for a rod at the store?

Oh well, off to poke some rocks. I really like what I see and I know it will get better, but right now I struggle a lot... Thanks for any help you can provide!

Yeah, this is different from the older AC's that the first few days are whole tutorials rather leaving you alone. It takes a while to pick up but once you get your development permit it moves on.

A friend of mine who is new to the AC series feels the same way and actually recently rated it a 6.5/10 no matter how hard I tried to make him like the series.

He's just the type of person that would rather have everything at once than wait it out. He hated the fact that he had to wait to put QR codes in. He hated the fact that plants took so long to grow into trees. He hated having to fish all of the time for money. Don't get me started about him not liking having to pay off his debt with Tom Nook.

I guess the game isn't for everyone. It's one of those games where either you like it straight up or you eventually "get it" through gameplay if you want to test the waters. Thankfully with this game, there is a lot of other GAF members that are playing along. The Stalk Market wouldn't be a success without them.

Unlocking the golden axe, do only the tree saplings count, or can I buy seeds and flowers as well? The guides aren't clear on what counts to the 50 item requirement (some say only saplings, and some say anything but bushes).

I'm having a neighbor come over to my house in 50 minutes. Do I wait for her inside my house, outside, or talk to her at that time?

Doesn't matter where you wait, but you need to ENTER your house at the designated time (or just after). The neighbor will come into your home right after you.

So I want to leave my town open while I work (nothing really special going on in my town) but I thought about throwing it in sleep mode. Does your character give any indication that this is happening so they know not to bother messaging you?

You can just wait around in your house. I waited in my house for about 15 minutes yesterday, and then at the designated time the villager knocked on the door and came in.

Haha I can see it not working at all for some. I think the game will be perfect for me, I am just trying to make sure that I am not missing on anything. It's just that I woke up excited to play today only to realize that all I can do today is the same as yesterday, catch insects and get shells... I think I am just really bummed that I did not get a fishing rod at the store. I almost paid for my entire first house just catching insects, I need a break from that. ;)

Did you exhaust all dialogue with Isabelle at the front desk? If she asks you whether you'd prefer fishing or bug catching, choose fishing and she will give you a rod. (She will also give you a watering can once all dialogue has been read.)

Just starting. Already getting worried about selling stuff. Found a couple of fossils which together basically paid for my house downpayment, but that also made me worry they were rare and I should give them to the museum. I figured a roof over my head was more important.

Couple of quick questions if you kind folk don't mind..

- Do I actually have to wait until tomorrow for my house to be built?
- any benefit to sleeping or eating or is it just cosmetic?
- I got stung by a bee. If I take a photo for my ID (so I can open up my town), will my photo have my busted eye on it?

YOU JUST MADE MY DAY! <3 Thanks! haha

1. Yes, you do.

2. Purely cosmetic.

3. Yes, lol.

Yes.

Cosmetic.

Yes, but you can take as many photos as you want.

If you want to complete the museum, you should give all your first finds to Blathers. You'll start getting doubles eventually, but it's still better to be safe than sorry. There will be PLENTY of other ways to get bells so don't worry about not having enough cash.

Yes, you really have to wait.

If no one will give you medicine, you can just save and quit and then reload the game. Your face will be fixed.

This has probably been answered before, and I am sorry, but what is the purpose of the Gyroids? I've been getting a lot of them and, yes, they're neat but I probably won't keep them around unless there's a distinct reason to do so. Can I just flip them for more Bells, or should I start hoarding them?

If swapping designs changes the designs you've put on the ground...how can you make various custom paths around the village? If I save first then swap will they stay?

By the way here is that Knight Solaire armor I tried to make:

They make noises in tune with songs you have in your house being played on a CD player, and you can swap them with the ones in Club LOL for funky beats of your own taste.

I have no idea what that is but my Dark Souls playing brother sends his regards.

Oh cool, didn't know this. I waited inside of my house for a few minutes past the appointed time and nobody came, I walked outside and didn't see anyone. When I went back in, they immediately knocked.

GF finally got hooked, going to be hard to get my play time in now hah.

Makes me sort of glad my girlfriend took one look at it, said "That's great", and went back to her own stuff. The initial "Wow my girlfriend likes AC" would be great, the reality of me not being able to play all the time would get to me.

I just bought this on Sunday, and damnit my current overtime schedule at work is wreaking havoc on my ability to be an effective mayor. I leave the house for work at 7AM and haven't been getting home before 9PM. Can't even take out of a loan on a house :(
