I liked it on a phone. I wonder if there's anything different in pc version to justify 3 times bigger price.
Hard button premium tax obviously.
XCOM should be cheaper on iOS, iOS games should be more expensive on PC. Circle of iOS rite? :p

(I'm personally not of this opinion)

Interested or not in XCOM, it's a pivotal moment for the AppStore.
It's almost the first time a triple a occidental game is published on the AppStore at over the 10 dollars barrier.

I'm curious to see how it will fare (I hope very well of course).

They will need far less sales to make a profit than many iOS devs selling at the 69p mark for one thing, they are also an established developer who made back the dev costs on Console / PC and probably had a small team work on the port, so it may all be profit to them.

iOS gaming addressing sexism.

MSRP for XCOM PC not on sale is 39.99, and people are throwing a fit over the 20. How odd.

Also people mocking the controller announcement at WWDC is interesting. While I agree its not E3 news (Polygon article) because it wasnt at E3, its still a big game changer for the things you can do with iOS gaming. Between my iPad and my PC I dont think I'll need a next gen console at all unless exclusives grow in number and quality.

I would never ever imagined I would have seen a video comparison between iPad 3 and...PS3.
Odd.

(I still think for certain games 2D is the way to go).

Impressive for what it is, I'm not sure iPad 3 is the best showrunner in the iOS department though, but hey.

I'm getting it on this principle alone: IT IS GENUINE XCOM ON MY PHONE

I wished for this the first time I started up Hunters 1, can't pass this up now.

Really want to buy xcom but already have it on PC so will probably be content with that (I have so many good games to play on my iPad already). So cool what what they've pulled off.

Yeah, I feel the same. Maybe someday I'll pick it up but no big rush. Definitely slick to see it on the platform though and looking forward to hearing people's impressions.

Sonic the Hedgehog is for a dollar as well - If the controls aren't too good at least I'll wait for the external controller to enjoy this properly.

BTW how does XCOM play on iPhone if anyone has tried it out? On some of the videos it looked quite choppy on iPad 3 not to even mention the size of the text on smaller devices.

XCOM: No performance issues on iPhone 5, and text is well readable, more so than say Warhammer Quest. Looks better than on iPad 3 too.

I'm only just past the tutorial, this is XCOM. I'll give more robust impressions later.

I'm going to hold on XCom until it's silly cheap... already have on PS3 and dont' think it is really worth the double-dip due to lack of replayability.

Have they fixed the bugs in iOS?

That sounds good. I think I'll get the World Ends With You first and maybe then I'll get XCOM since I got enough strategy games on my iPhone for now... still waiting for your impressions!

This is similar to what Rev3 had to say about X-Com: It looks better on iPad 4 and iPhone 5 than it does on iPad 2, 3, Mini and iPhone 4S (as you'd expect).

Even though I beat the shit outta XCOM on PC (indeed it was one of the finest things I spent money on last year), I'm mighty tempted to pick it up for portable god dammit moments.

It would fucking kill all and any chance I have of ever being productive during down time or quiet time at work, lol. But then I think I could play XCOM in bed? And then I wonder how far I could fling an iPad3 after a squaddie misses an 80% shot?

Hmmm.

fucking shit. I just bought it, but didn't have enough space on my iPad to download. Now I can't download it.

There has to be a way to re-download games you have purchased right?

Unfortunately not in cases of games being pulled for licensing reasons. Normally they'd be in your Purchase history.

The download size isnt the final size though? Should that be reflected in the graphic?

I haven't put the uncompressed install size in any of the game graphics to date, because in order to find that out I'd need to buy every single release and install them.

It's 3.2gb for XCOM.

I bought Xcom before leaving the house but didn't have time to put on my phone and clear out the 3.2 gigs (!!!) required. I'll report back with how it runs on an iPhone 4S. I know it won't be pretty, but I will do virtually anything for portable Xcom love (the new Xcom, anyway; I tried Aliens v Humans and it's a little too old-school for my tastes).

On another old-school note: I re downloaded Knigjts of Pen and Paper on a whim, and I think the +1 edition added quite a bit because I'm in love all over again. <3

Played about 90 mins of xcom today on iPhone 4s. Works surprisingly well. Game is fantastic so far. Was playing outside so brightness was full so battery was getting eaten alive but what ever.

Frame is OK. Some slow down here and there but fine. Game looks great. Interface works great even on 3.5 inch screen but is no doubt better on tablets.

Really glad this came out as I was a huge fan of the original and don't have enough time to play it on PC. Price is fantastic as far as I'm concerned. Anything under £15 for fully featured games like this on steam is impulse buy territory.
