Sony and Naughty Dog’s PS3 exclusive ‘The Last Of Us’ (-35%) remains at No1 for a third consecutive week.

Microsoft’s Xbox 360 edition of ‘Minecraft’ debuts at No2 and Nintendo’s 3DS ‘Animal Crossing: New Leaf’ drops down 1 place to No3 after 2 weeks at No2 (-25%). EA’s ‘FIFA 13’ also drops down 1 place to No4 although sales rocket +43% over last week thanks to the keenly priced 360/PS3 versions. There are a further 3 new entries within the Top 10 this week: debuting at No5 is EA’s ‘The Sims 3: Island Paradise’, the 10th PC Expansion Pack in the series and the second this year, after ‘The Sims 3: University Life’ back in week 10. Right behind and new at No6 is Activision/Blizzard’s Marvel Comics ‘Deadpool’ for 360/PS3. Completing the new releases is Sega’s ‘Company of Heroes 2’ on PC, new at No10 and which becomes the 7th game to be released on a Tuesday this year (the last being ‘Defiance’ back in early April).

The original ‘Company of Heroes’ debuted back in September 2006 and was developed in Canada by Relic, at that time a THQ studio (also known for ‘Homeworld’/‘Warhammer 40K’ games). The follow-up is still a Relic-developed title, but they are of course now a Sega studio.

Thank god deadpool charted.

Seriously though, I love High Moon's writing and overall presentation, but they really need to sort out their gameplay mechanics. Leaving aside sales, if they went under it wouldn't be surprising sheerly based on critical examination of their games. :(

Fall Of Cybertron showed they can put out good games, but Deadpool seems a lot of a backslide looking at reviews(unless they had a short dev window, haven't heard anything about that either way).

Will still pick it up when I feel better, but solely for the writing

I can't fully agree with Microsoft for charging full price for the people who bought the Xbox 360 edition. But then again, if I were to buy the PC version, which just like the One version is a completely different version, I need to pay for the game again. Same principle as when I buy Battlefield 4 on the current gen, and later on I want to play it on the next gen. I need to pay for the game again.
 
Haha totally forgot about Wario....damn the best selling WiiU title + first party release cant even enter the Top 40. Pikmin cant be released soon enough.

Last of Us has the charts by the balls. Word of mouth is clearly doing the work.

Fascinated by exactly what number Game & Wario would be at? Just outside the 40? 50? 60? This is why third parties are abandoning ship. Not even Nintendo can sell anything on their own system. This also highlights the "dont need third parties to expand userbase, fine on their own software" problems Nintendo faces.
 
I don't know why people are surprised at TLoU, there's nothing else for people to buy. Number five is Fifa, how long has that been out? Eight months?
 
Not surprising for Game & Wario. Released early in Japan to mediocre reviews (AND low sales). I'm a huge Nintendo fanboy, but even I wasn't excited about getting it. I preordered it as part of a bundle and as soon as I saw reviews and gameplay, I considered cancelling my preorder. Not to say that I won't like it, but I'm not excited about it at all.

It's not a different version; it's the same game on a successor console.

MS should really sort their shit out so those who already own Xbox 360 Minecraft can either get the Xbox One version for a reduced price (a la Wii U virtual console games), or for free (a la Sony's cross-buy scheme). Considering they're using the same Live network, it's not like MS couldn't enable this with a bit of effort, but obviously that would entail giving the game away and not charging $15 several million times over again.

Isn't Minecraft $20? 1600pts. But it was only announced what 3 weeks ago? And no gameplay videos unless I missed them, theres nothing to say those that bought it previously won't get a discount of some sort (yet).

Okay, Tomb Raider is 12. It came out four months ago, and it's the same genre as TLoU. It might be higher if they combined SKUs too. TLoU isn't spread across multiple platforms.

I think it was a missed opporturnity to not have a price cut for PS3 at E3. I think TLOU could have moved quite a few units depending on the price especially for your basic dudebro audience who might only have 360 and not looking foreward to jump next gen just yet. Especially if they could have sold the message that GT6 was coming this year too. If they cut the price at gamescom it doesn't have quite the same one-two punch effect that combining it with TLOU release would have had.

Difficult to know, given it's Summer and games sales are usually much lower than in the run up to Christmas when Uncharted games have always released.

If TLOU released in October it'd be suffering in the charts with competition from the usual big-hitters (CoD, FIFA, Battlefield etc etc).

It's undoubtably the big hit for the Summer though - it may well hold on to the #1 spot for a while longer with little else big releasing until the end of July.

Especially if they could have sold the message that GT6 was coming this year too. If they cut the price at gamescom it doesn't have quite the same one-two punch effect that combining it with TLOU release would have had.

Well that is precisely the trade off a lower price brings: less revenue per unit against higher sales, something that is difficult to determine for us here on GAF, much less so for Sony. Plus as much as the 360 and PS3 prices are still very high given the late stage of this longer than usual hardware cycle, deals can be frequently found for both systems in the £100-£140 price bracket.

But yeah, it may well have been the case that a lower PS3 RRP in conjunction with TLOU could have bought in higher sales of both.

To enter the Top 40 it doesnt really have to sell much, thats the problem...and its the best selling WiiU title :lol
Of course there are reason for such a bad performance, but damn.....doesnt look too good. They should have just put it on the eShop for 15€ instead of letting it die in retail - i mean bamco got it right with TankTank. Adapt or die.

First week was more than Uncharted 2, but less than Uncharted 3.

W1: 84K - 116K
W2: 44k - 60K
W3: 29K - 39K

LTD: 157K - 215K

But I don't know what the third week drops for Uncharted 2 and 3 was so can't really make a comparison.

Nintendo hasn't released anything on the Wii U but they have been the developer and publisher of the year in my eyes for the games they are releasing in the 3DS this year. Plus there is still mario and luigi rpg, poke Mon, super Mario world, a Link Between Worlds and donkey kong tropical Freeze.
