Codemasters speed to the top of the All Formats Chart for the first time since ‘F1 2010’ back in W38 2010 thanks to ‘Grid 2’.

The sequel goes one better than its predecessor which could only manage No2 five years ago, however launch week sales are 29% down on the original. ‘FIFA 13’ holds on to No2, enjoying a healthy 17% weekly increase in sales during this Half-Term week. ‘Dead Island: Riptide’ (-0%) is up one place to No3, ahead of ‘Far Cry 3’ (+35%) which climbs 4 places to No4, boosted by a new budget price point. Last week’s No1 is No5 this week as sales of ‘Resident Evil: Revelations’ fall by 45%. ‘Assassin’s Creed III’ (+10%) has to settle for the title of Ubisoft’s second biggest selling game this week behind ‘Far Cry 3’, despite holding on to No6. No1 three weeks ago, ‘Metro Last Light’ (-40%) slips from No3 to No7, ahead of ‘Donkey Kong Country Returns’ (-17%) at No8. ‘Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes’ (+35%) bounces back into the Top 10 for a second time, at No9 (having made another reappearance back in W15). ‘Tomb Raider’ (+0%) clings on to the Top 10, falling 3 places to No10. There is only one other All Formats Top 40 debut this week; ‘Fuse’ from EA, new at No37.

Why not? I don't think there has been any rumours about Insomniac and Sony having problems with each other. Last full mainline Ratchet game (Crack in time) was also great game so quality should not be concern either.

Sony have been pricing it very aggressively. Which at the end of the generation is the right thing to do, especially given that GoW:A is just a reheated version of GoW3 with tacked on multi-player. People were not willing to pay full price for a game that is very similar to what they have already experienced.

GoW has been charting consistently in the Top 10 for a few weeks there now iirc, don't think a sale is the relevant factor here. It's got surprisingly good legs.

As much as I really love what insomniac has done with R&C mainline games...I would be very interested to see another devs take on the franchise. Feels like it could use a new vision. Sansaru maybe.

THIS however I disagree with absolutely. The MP in GOW:A is anything but tacked on. It's a vast and deep MP with a lot of planning behind it. Rather unique too

Yeah, certainly makes sense if they can afford to sell it at that price.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Fuse would have seemingly seen a lot more success if it was a Vita exclusive seemingly by these results of not even making it onto the charts. Sony would have been happier to have another title on the system, and its exclusivity would have reached a hungrier audience, the likes of which keeps buying NFS:MW.

Wondering if a WiiU title will ever chart before Mario at this point...

MC for 2012:

[3DS] Fire Emblem: Awakening <SLG> (Nintendo) {2012.04.19} (¥4.800) – 455.268

This number doesn't include digital sales, neither 2013 sales. At best maybe it is around 500k shipped+digital in Japan.

In USA, thanks to NPD we have 180k in February and 64K in march (retail + digital). So 244k in total. No data for april and may, we can guess 300k (shipped + digital) in USA.

So, in PAL countries only need to sell 200k to reach the million.

Correct, Fire Emblem is probably over 1.000.000 units by now and the first entry in the series which achieved this.

That Diggs game doesn't seem to be in a single chart so must have sold double digits if that.

NPD started to track Australia by themselves, while before they worked with Gfk, or something like that.

We all know how NPD loves to publish their charts...

Maybe the idea was brilliant and I'm just an ingrate, but honestly one game is more than it deserved (IMO). The whole augmented reality thing isn't really ready for prime time. My kids loved, loved, loved the EyePet demo ... and the full game left them flat. Yes, I'm bitter.

It was both. Seems ideal as a downloadable title though given the price. Given its non existence on the charts 'd be surprised if the next iteration gets a disc release, if there is another iteration.

My gf loves Harry Potter, we were at the Sony store in NYC and she saw the demo station and went running to play it with her eyes all lit like a little kid. She tried it for a couple of minutes and then said, "great idea, horrible execution". After I picked up the move to try it, I can't say I disagree with that assessment.
