I just finished reading Lucifer. I dislike how it didn't keep true to the character in Sandman and took away the nuance of how Heaven was implied to work. That said, this was a pretty damn good story, with my favorite characters being Elaine, Christopher Rudd and Michael. Wonderful character development and I fucking LOVED some of the shit Lucifer pulled. Particularly his fight with Amenadiel, that shit was clever. Overall, a very satisfying comic.

Is there any kind of comic going on right now that's something like this? Justice League Dark maybe?

Those new Vertigo books all sounds pretty interesting, but i think i'm over Lee Bermejo's art. It's good but that shit blew me away when i first saw it (I was pretty new to comics at the time).

I assume Marvel doesn't do the same thing. Unfortunately, I haven't read much from DC pre-2005, and most of what I have read has been from big names who are still working in the business. I could have been of more help if this was for Marvel Comics.

The article stated that this program started in 1975, and that it was revolutionary at the time, so Wolverine (who was created in 1974) not being covered under something similar makes sense. It would be deplorable if Marvel still doesn't offer something comparable though.

As far as I'm aware, they don't and neither does DC. Unless I'm mistaken, DC stopped this program circa 2006 (when Levitz left the company). Creators are still entitled to money and credit for anyone created between 1975 and 2006, but any post-2006 characters are solely the property of DC. I don't think Marvel has ever had anything like that.

Batman Inc #12 - Hopefully Morrison can finish of his epic run with a bang in these last two issues.

Private Eye #3 - It's not been Brain K Vaughns best work but its getting better and better with each issue, also the fact that its only available online at your own price makes it irresistible to deny.

Yes. Read them. There are three trades, all worth every dime of the cost. The book doesn't get enough love. It won't change the landscape of comics, but it's always fun and always worth a read.

I don't know. I just saw this on my twitter feed and thought it was cool and wanted to share it. I'm a firm believer that creators should get compensation even if they sell the permanent rights to a company; A small kickback at the very least. Whether DC still does it (as some have mentioned it seems they may have stopped? Don't know) or not it has a period of time where it is in effect. I think this is more about raising public awareness more than anything.

As has been mentioned several times before; Batman Beyond is schway. All of it is worth reading. A note; The title is changing to Batman Beyond Universe in August.

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
None of those Vertigo titles do much for me, since they all seem to be in the realm of dark fantasy and battles between good and evil, except for Bermejo's future boxing series. I hate boxing however.

Ah well, they're still giving me The Wake and Trillium.

I'm probably just going to pick up Avengers next week, not much else on my radar so I'm going to try some new series like Lazarus I think. Maybe I'll give Vibe a shot for Rafa.

I've finished reading the first volume of Preacher. It has alotta swearing, more so than Crossed I'd say however not nearly as violent. It's been entertaining so far. Now onto The end of the world...

Seriously, I'm probably gonna check them all out. I was a bit disappointed that Kelly Sue DeConnick's involvement is just a one shot in that Halloween anthology and not an ongoing title. For my money she's the more talented between her and her husband.

Well, I trade wait, so if reviews are good and more details make them more appealing to me, I'll check them out. But that admittedly broad genre is a hard one to really grab me. The Discipline and Coffin Hill seem most likely to intrigue me. Considering how many books I read, tough choices have to be made, and it's easier to win my attention in genres I'm predisposed to enjoy than ones I'm predisposed to take issue with. I'm tough to please with fantasy.

Basically, I'm just sad none of them jump out and make me wish I could be reading them now.

I just want to say that very little of the offerings are fantasy.
Sandman is deeply rooted in mythology.
Dead Boy Detectives, from the scant comics we've seen them in, is more of a detective book with a paranormal twist.
Discipline seems to be some sort of erotic thriller from Peter Milligan (who is totally underrated).
Suiciders is sci-fi sporting Bermejo goodness.

So, two of the titles have fantasy elements while the others really offer a variety of genres and literary scenarios.

I get the save-money mentality when it comes to comics because there's always going to be too many books for your wallet, but it sucks that you just kind of brushed off this wonderful Vertigo resurgence that we're getting with an odd generalized comment about the books.

And dont discount Vertigo for these moves. These are exactly the types of books they needed. So glad Karen Berger is gone, the brand needed fresh air. They just shoulsnt expect to be selling 40k copies right off the bat. Didio is a crazed bum in a powerful position. I always felt Vertigo was a trade oriented brand. Its why they destroy Mahvel in the bookstores.

Green Arrow - I am loving Andrea Sorrentino on this series, but I want to see Jeff Lemire step up his game. Hopefully this Count Vertigo arc will be impressive.
Avengers - I've been enjoying every issue but it hasn't surprised me at all. Hickman continues his world building and the artist he keeps getting are great. I don't expect a lot from the upcoming issues until Infinity.

I also still need to pick up all the X-titles from last week.

Marvel unlimited is such a frustratingly crappy service. Marvel keeps saying they are working on closing gaps in series, yet every week they create new ones. Avengers arena 3 just came to it, great, but not #2. Because Dwight Howard is thinking about joining marvel.

I'm trying my best to read through Ultimate Spider-Man on Marvel Unlimted but I don't know if I can. It's so shitty-I fucking despise Mark Bagley's art with a passion and the writing is Bendis at his worst. How can the same man who turned out Daredevil and All-New X-Men be the same person responsible for this and Age of Ultron??

^^^ But All New X-men has a very similar writing style to it. Bendis was always strong at writing teenage characters and that's the same thing he did in Ultimate Spider-Man it's just he's got a better artist with Stuart Immomen.

Lol you toss out ANXM as if it isn't the same ol' Bendis? USM is Bendis at his best, stick with it.

Gonna be upfront and brief here: I'd like to get into the new batman comics but have no idea which one or how (logistically speaking). Oh and I really don't like reading comics online because scrolling sucks (vertical comic layout vs 16:9 computer screen) and imo tends to really hamper readability.

Help?

I agree, USM gets really good. You should read Spider-Men also to flesh things out a bit more. Spider-Men does a good job at making the reader accept Miles even more.

On going series New 52 Batman is good. Newer trades would be The Long Halloween and Hush.
