I work at Norway's largest chips-manufacturer. Here the most popular flavor is Salt, followed by Salt & Pepper and then Paprika.

Ps UK GAF did you know Space Raiders are now priced at 20p a pack!!!!

OUTRAGOUS!

What?? Were they still 10p before this?

tbf, I don't think I've had a pack of Space Raiders since my school days, but I really like the fact that you could get a bag of (reasonable) crisps for 10p.

My favourite crisps Walkers used to make, then they went black packet and are a mare to find, they are awesome tho

I actually found my morrisons sells these as a 6 pack on a regular basis.

they are so gooood.

People actually like ready salted? ugh so flavourless.

As a kid the ready salted were lays the last ones left in the cupboard from the multipack.

I'd throw some malt vinegar in the pack and give it a shake in those desperate times.

I'm old (32) they were 5p when I was at school.

Primary school? I'm 36 and pretty sure they were 10p at my secondary.

Regardless, that is an insane price hike.

And holy shit, Morrisons do Marmite Walkers? What time do they open on Sunday?

I only used to get £1 per day for pocket money. 70p went on bus fare and the 30p left over was for penny sweets and 10p crisps.

Awesome times.

Nowadays I see kids with chips and Mayo or fried chicken and then everyone is wondering why Britain is sleep walking higher up into obesity stats. lol

Surprised steak and onion is that high. Would have expected prawn cocktail and roast chicken to be above it.

Space Raiders were 10p near our school.

Btw, Golden Wonders is still around, even though they were bought up by Walkers.

edit: strike that. Golden Wonders, the crisp brand, was sold onto Tayto. Golden Wonders sold wotsits to Walkers.

Saddened that prawn cocktail is not higher. It's the best crisp flavour out there - sweet and addictive.

Roast chicken is fucking disgusting. It tastes fake as fuck and is like eating those flavour pouches you get with instant noodles.

On the subject of cheap crisps, Morrisons version of Quavers are actually better than the real thing, and I love me some Quavers.

I think I'm going to be picking up a lot of crisps from Morrisons today, this thread is giving me cravings.

Pringles to the best Prwan Cocktail.
McCoys the beast Beefy and Salt & vinegar

And Walkers Sensations Balsamic Vinegar and Onion are ace too

Yeah, Marmite crisps are great. Walkers Worcester sauce flavour are great too, but you rarely see that flavour sold as as single packet. Walkers have a lot of fine flavours that you can only find in multipacks ;(

Cheese and Onion>>>>everything else, how is ready salted number 1? They never get eaten at my house. Im annoyed they changed the flavours to somerset cheese or something? Clearly tastes different not as great as the old version

Eben though they're the same, are Walkers Ready Salted any better than Lays Original?
I see some on Amazon and would like to try them out but it'd be a waste if they taste exactly the same.

I think they are different.

When I've read the back of American packaging it does seem to have a longer list of artificial ingredients. It could be just my imagination though. I seem to remember GM being in a lot of the products.

No, otherwise these would have been posted:

Oh now I want some...

Actually I call both crisps and chips 'chips', but differentiate by saying 'I'd love a packet of chips'.

Edit: forgot to mention 'potato chips', 'corn chips' as well.

Prawn cocktail ones are nice but I'm not that big of a fan of crisps here in England. Especially after eating them in other countries where they sell big packets of lays and cheetos. So damn good.

I guess that Prawn Cocktail must sound really weird to someone who hadn't heard of it before. It just tastes right though.

I actually didn't realise any of this was weird. Walkers crisps are so ingrained in British culture, that they just seem really normal. "Ready salted" is just what you call it - you don't really think about what you are actually saying (I assume it comes from a distinction between ready salted and something like "Salt n Shake"?).

I am surprised at Ready Salted being so high though - I would have thought Cheese and Onion would be top, and maybe Prawn Cocktail in 4th behind the 'big three'.

Prawn Cocktail is easily the best flavour on this list.

Nothing beats the humble Wotsit, though.

Although this was god-tier, and I'd lobby to have it brought back permanently in a heartbeat.

what is "ready salted"? In America our "normal" chips are covered in salt with no additional flavorst... is this the same thing?

You don't see it as often now, but back in the day salt would come in seperate optional sachet inside the bag. Ready salted means these have already been salted for you.

I'll always opt for a flavoured crisp (except beef/chicken or ketchup - they are all wrong) over Ready Salted, but I'm always surprised by much I enjoy a good Ready Salted when I'm forced into having them.

It's the mark of a good crisp brand imo. If their plain ass crisps taste good, you know their flavoured ones will be even better.
