If you look at the news, a week or two ago Spanish police raided this huge operation that was selling doping to amateur athletes. I've heard from amateur athletes themselves too how pervasive doping is. My feeling is that if it's common in places where there's little to no money to be made, that it's going to be near universal in sports where there's a lot of money going around and doping testing is weak (like in football or tennis).

Same feelings, sport as a whole has felt pretty empty to me since reading the full details of the USADA report on Armstrong and the whole Fuentes fiasco. Football has virtually no drugs testing, some players may have their urine tested maybe 2-3 times in their whole career. Tennis is a total joke.

Apparently the cut-off time is around 36 minutes. Porte is already at >15 minutes, I wonder when the sprinter group will finish.

EDIT: Porte at 18 min.

It's fun to do internet searches for peds (epo/gw1516/aicar etc) and read forum posts from amateurs who tries it. Still nowhere near as many as those who use PEDs to bulk. People love shortcuts

If the riders aren't going to put an effort into riding outside of the intermediate sprint and the finish, I don't feel the need to watch anything beyond those two things. Flat stages are dull as hell.

Flat stages can be interesting, but it normally takes a strong wind or a crash to make that happen :|

wasn't Cavendish slagging off other riders for being dangerous sprinters a couple of days ago?
To be fair, this is only the first time he caused an accident. He is normally not a dangerous rider and it wasn't on purpose. That is why he didn't get a penalty either.

poor Manky Pissile
welp looks like the race is on for second, amazing ride from Tony Martin today considering his injuries

Didn't think the accident was Cavendish's fault, the other rider looked over his left shoulder as he was drifting right.

Nice day for Omega Pharma. A win for Martin, fifth place for Kwiatkowski and seventh for Chavanel. I hope Kwiatkowski can keep the white jersey till the end.

Are we talking about the same Cavendish? :p
Okay, it wasn't good to listen to the commentators on that case. Anyway, still clear Veeleers wasn't supposed to be there at all. If you assist a sprinter, you go to the side where there is nobody when you're done.

Flat stages are dull as hell.

Not when you have someone like Oleg Tinkov (TST sponsor).

Starts of quite "innocent":

Oleg Tinkov @olegtinkov
Chris Froome is surprisingly strong. But I still in believe with @TeamSaxoTinkoff and @albertocontador . Guys let's fire, go and fuck them!

We are an illusion @FrandysBikeShop
We are very much enjoying @olegtinkov currently. Please tell us you are riding in the team car for the rest of the TdF.

Oleg Tinkov @olegtinkov
@FrandysBikeShop no, i am jerking off at my tuscany villa)
Finally someone mentioned his hilarious tweets to which he replied:
Oleg Tinkov @olegtinkov
@MikaelBomholt I dont know if he eats doping every night before sex-stop asking me these shit
:lol

So Omega Pharma Quick Step and Belkin are killing Valverde. Quick Step formed an echelon to 'punish' Kittel (whose team didn't lead the pack despite being the big winner) and Valverde lost time due to a flat tire. At the moment Valverde, Rui Costa, Rolland and Kittel are 1m40 behind Froome and the favorites.

Belkin riding fast after Valverde punctured is such a dick move :/. Not the way you should win places guys, no class. I guess the cycling of the past is truly gone.

Valverde's group have all but sat up, 2'37" and only getting bigger.

They have lost Froome! Contador and Molema are dumping Froome! Hardly 10-20 people including Belkin, Saxo Bank and Omega Pharma in the front with Sagan.

Come on, twenty-thirthy years ago they wouldn't have doubted for a second. When Merckx crashed Ocana, he didn't wait a second. In the end Zoetemelk would take out Ocana anyway, but in those times they didn't wait for a second.

Exciting. Even if they only gain a few seconds, every second counts.

Whats BMC doing though, they have nothing to gain.

Valverde's going to lose 6 mins+ at this rate. Froome v Contador in the Alps now.

Edit: Sky is finally starting to organise, not sure why Froome is so far back in the group.

Evans and Van Garderen would still like to get a good position in the end. Quick Step, Belkin and Cannondale guys that got left behind are now also sabotaging so that is good. Contador is showing fighting spirit. Exciting!

Valverde is going to lose 10 minutes at the rate the gap is rising. Valverde and Costa are gone from the GC, I still can't believe they sent Costa back to help Valverde. What a bunch of idiots.

Yeah, luckily they left Quintana.

Why is Katusha helping by the way?+

Amazed that Cavendish managed to get away with the group.
It would be pointless if he didn't, his team is the 'cause' of all this.

A glorious day for Omega Pharma. They take the victory and the entire team gets the combative trophy!

Yeah, but why on earth they thought it a good idea to send the #9 in the GC back to help their leader on a flat stage where wind had put everything into disarray is beyond me.
At first it seemed logical. At one point Valverde and Costa were only 12 seconds behind, but Valverde ruined it at that point by ditching his own team mates.

Nice 1m8s gained on Froome.
And honestly, it is becoming quite clear that Froome was so good last year because Wiggins was there to guide him. He blew his load on Saturday without keeping himself in check. Wiggins was a lot more calculated.
