I don't see how you could conclude that.

Which part is this an objection to? If the 1st part, then I say "played all around the world" could mean most series these days. If the 2nd, then I'll point out that the well known game could just be a reference to Pokemon itself and not the collaboration.

Yeah I'm not sure why this means it is not pokemon.

It looks like it could be a pokemon, and it doesn't seem like there are any well known franchises with something to fit that character design.

Not to mention Pokemon is drawing near, and is being reborn in 3D for the first time. Maybe it's a secret pokemon feature we don't know of.

It's about a game been reborn so I think it's very unlikely that it's just some sort of mascot promotion. The collaboration can very well be something japanese centric but if it involves Pokemon no doubt it'll come here, like Pokemon x Nobunaga's Ambition.

OGPlanet? The MMO making dudes? The only one I've played is the SD Gundam MMO, it's kind of fun but the difficulty ramps up pretty quick, kinda put me off playing a bit. Engrish is horrible though.

Speaking of Harvest Moon, one of the Gamefreak designers, Atsuko Nishida (who did Pikachu, Chillarmy, other cute Pokemon) did designs for Hometown Story for the 3DS.

Maybe the pony-horse thing is a ridable animal/Pokémon that you use during farm management tasks? Pokémon getting farm cultivation features?

Allow them to level up and perhaps have a small bonding mechanic the more you use certain pokemon and depending on how useful they are. Legendaries could appear for special missions to assist (such as Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Victini, Lati@s, Shaymin, etc.)

It does seem like a Minoshiro. A video game set in the universe of From the New World could be really interesting, though Game Freak would be one of the last developers in the world one would think would tackle it.
